Kempenfelt Bay

Kempenfest is an outdoor arts and crafts festival in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The festival occurs annually over the August long weekend and features over 300 artisans, an antique show, food demonstrations, children's activities and live entertainment. It is named after Kempenfelt Bay and began in 1971. It was originally placed at Formosa Spring Breweries Park (later known as Molson Park) Ontario, and moved to downtown Barrie in 1975. The festival includes a 2000-metre swim across Kempenfelt Bay, leaving from Centennial Beach. Since 2014, the city has offered free shuttle service around the bay.Kempenfest is organized by a committee representing eight different organizations who each play a role in executing the event. The Barrie Art Club and the Barrie Kiwanis Club form the Huronia Festival of Arts and Crafts, who jury the 350+ art and craft exhibitors into the event. The Optimist Club coordinates the Antiques section of the event. The Chamber of Commerce hosts a beer garden and entertainment stage in Centennial Park. The Barrie Rotary Club hosts the main beer gardens and main stage. The YMCA hosts the Children's Village with kids activities throughout the weekend. The Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus and Optimist Club also run food and beverage outlets at the event. These groups typically raise over $250,000 annually for their community work through their involvement in Kempenfest.

Barrie South GO Station is a train and bus station on the GO Transit Barrie line, located in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Barrie Transit buses provide public transit access to the rest of the city. As of January 2012, the station is used by about 700 passengers per day, up from 350 at the time of its opening.

Eastview Secondary School is a public secondary school (grades 9-12) located in northeastern Barrie, Ontario, Canada. It has an enrollment of about 1,400 students. Eastview is one of the largest high schools in Barrie, Ontario, serving students from the east end of Barrie, as well as the south portions of Oro-Medonte Township (Horseshoe Valley, Shanty Bay, Crown Hill) and Springwater Township. It has a string-music program, making it unique in the county. The mascot of the school is a Wildcat.

The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (formerly the Royal Victoria Hospital) is an Advanced Level II facility with stroke designation, serving the needs of the population of the City of Barrie and the surrounding area. The facility is located at 201 Georgian Drive in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The CEO is Gail Hunt. As of 2017, the hospital operated on a $340 million annual budget.The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is a 299-bed acute care facility. With a team of over 380 physicians, 2,500 staff members and 850 volunteers, the RVH provides healthcare specializing in cancer care, surgical services, critical care, mental health rehabilitation services, as well as women and children's programs. The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is the only hospital in Barrie and is the regional hospital for a large geographical region including central Simcoe County Barrie, Innisfil (Alcona, Stroud, Gilford), Springwater (Elmvale, Midhurst, Minesing, Snow Valley), south Oro- Medonte (Horseshoe Valley, Shanty Bay), a small portion of Essa Township (Ivy, Thornton). The hospital dates to 1891, when it was known as the Barrie General Hospital, which was located in a home at 105 Duckworth Street near Ardagh's Grove. The facility has relocated and expanded many times since its inception: 1897 BGH relocated to 63 High Street to R.E. Barrie was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 2004 to 2015. It consisted of the City of Barrie in the County of Simcoe. It was created in 2003 when its predecessor, Barrie—Simcoe—Bradford, was redistributed. Barrie—Simcoe—Bradford consisted of the City of Barrie and the towns of Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil. It had been formed in 1996 as Barrie—Simcoe from Simcoe Centre and York—Simcoe ridings, but its name was changed before an election was held.

CKMB-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 107.5 FM in Barrie, Ontario. The station airs music in the hot adult contemporary format. The station was launched in 2001 by Central Ontario Broadcasting (Rock 95 Broadcasting (Barrie-Orillia) Ltd.), the owners of CFJB. It was launched as Star 107.5.CKMB's call letters were taken from station owner Doug Bingley's desire to name the station after his children, Michael, Matthew and Megan Bingley. He had originally wanted to use the call letters for CFJB when that station was launched in 1988, although the call sign was not available at that time. On August 20, 2004, the CRTC approved Rock 95's application to change CKMB's frequency to 107.7 MHz and to change the authorized contours by relocating the transmitter. The change to 107.7 MHz was never implemented. In December 2005, CKMB rebranded from Star 107.5 to 107.5 Kool FM and began more current/recurrent airplay over classic airplay.

Barrie/Little Lake Water Aerodrome (TC LID: CPT5) was located on Little Lake on the north side of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The aerodrome served floatplanes, which parked along wooden docks along the south side of the lake, and was accessed via Little Lake Drive.

Barrie—Innisfil is a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada. It elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The riding was created in 2015 from portions of Barrie and York—Simcoe ridings, and it is congruent with the new federal riding of the same name.

S. Peter's Catholic Secondary School is located in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. It is a member of the Simcoe Musoka Catholic District School Board. The school is informally referred to as St. Pete's or St. Peter's. St. Peters was founded in 1996 and had an addition built on the west side of the school in 2010-2011 which consisted of six new classrooms, a new dance studio and fitness room, and a new student success center to accommodate the growing number of students. St. Peters also has a daycare/preschool attached to it. Six feeder schools contribute to the high school's population each year, these include but are not limited to: Holy Cross Catholic School, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School, St. John Paul II Catholic School, St John Vianney Catholic School, and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School. The school's population is approximately 1150 students. The principal is Brad Shoreman and vice principals are Janet Cinnamon and Rose Lafrance. Although the school colours are gray and purple the uniforms are white, black, dark green, and gray. The uniforms include articles such as: polo shirts, vests, sweaters, cardigans, dress pants, walking shorts, capris, and gym apparel as well. Students are only allowed to wear plain black or white t-shirts or long sleeved shirts under their uniforms. Black jeans, yoga pants and or any other bottoms that are not school issued dress pants are not permitted. To avoid this problem St. Peters dress pants are fashioned with a yellow paw print sewn into the side of the right pant leg to help staff identify which students are wearing the proper pants. Annual events include Monsignor Clair Cup, Halloween dress up day, Spirit week, Clash of Colours, PJ Day, Christmas assembly, Talent show, sears festival, locker clean-out, Ash Wednesday, Catholic Education Week, Ecuador Mission Trip, Film Festival, and Pride week. These events help to solidify a strong school community and help build teamwork skills as most of these events you participate as groups, teams, or grades.

Barrie is a city in Central Ontario, Canada, about 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Toronto. The city is within Simcoe County and located along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay. Although it is physically in the county, Barrie is politically independent. The city is part of the extended urban area in southern Ontario known as the Greater Golden Horseshoe. As of the 2021 census, the city's population was 147,829, while the census metropolitan area had a population of 212,667 residents. The area was first settled during the War of 1812 as a supply depot for British forces, and Barrie was named after Sir Robert Barrie. The city has grown significantly in recent decades due to the emergence of the technology industry. It is connected to the Greater Golden Horseshoe by Ontario Highway 400 and GO Transit. Significant sectors of the city's diversified economy include education, healthcare, information technology and manufacturing.
