Classical High School, founded in 1843, is a public magnet school in the Providence School District, in Providence, Rhode Island. It was originally an all-male school but has since become co-ed. Classical's motto is Certare, Petere, Reperire, Neque Cedere, a Latin translation of the famous phrase taken from Tennyson's poem "Ulysses", "To Strive, to Seek, to Find, and Not to Yield". It has been rated "High Performing and Sustaining" by its performance in 2005 on the New Standards Reference Exam, placing third in the state. The school also made Newsweek's America's Best High Schools of 2012 with a 99% graduation rate, 95% college bound, an average SAT score of 1578, and an average AP score of 2.8. Classical High School stands roughly at the intersection of the Federal Hill, West End, and Upper South Providence neighborhoods.

The Providence Public School Department is the administrative force behind the primary public school district of Providence, Rhode Island. As of July 2022, it serves about 21,700 students in pre-K through 12th grade. It has 21 elementary schools, seven middle schools and nine high schools, along with two public charter schools.The Providence Public School District includes magnet schools at the middle and high school level, Nathanael Greene and Classical respectively. There are two separate centers for students with special needs. Two public charter schools, Time Squared Academy High School (K–12) and Textron Chamber of Commerce (9–12), are funded by GTECH Corporation and Textron respectively. Overall, the public high school graduation rate as of 2019 is 74%, which is below the statewide rate of 84% and the national average of 87%.Providence Public Schools rank third when compared to public schools in New England. Worcester Public and Boston Public are ranked 1st and 2nd.

Westminster Street Historic District is a commercial historic district consisting of six buildings along the north side of Westminster Street in Providence, Rhode Island, a short way west of Interstate 95. Three of the buildings are located just west of Dean Street, while the other three are just to its east. Five of the six buildings were constructed between 1870 and 1900, and the sixth in 1933. These five, the most prominent of which is the Burrows Block are uniformly built of brick and masonry, while the Chiapinelli Block, at the eastern end of the district, is an Art Deco office building with a concrete main facade and brick sidewalls.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Central High School is a public high school in the Providence Public School District, Rhode Island, United States. Central High School stands roughly at the intersection of the Federal Hill, West End, and Upper South Providence neighborhoods.

All Saints Memorial Church is a historic Episcopal church at 674 Westminster Street in Federal Hill, Providence, Rhode Island. The current church building, a large brownstone structure with a flat-topped tower, was designed by architect Edward Tuckerman Potter in a Gothic, Tudor Revival style, and built from 1869 to 1872. It is the largest Episcopal church building in the state, and its only known Potter-designed church. The accompanying (now-demolished) parish house is a Tudor Revival structure designed by Gorham Henshaw and built in 1909.The church building added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Aylesworth Apartments is a 19th century apartment building in the Upper South Providence neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. Since 1982, the building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Louttit Laundry was at one time the largest laundry business in Rhode Island, with 150 employees and 16 outlets throughout the state. Their historic building at 93 Cranston Street (previously home to What Cheer Steam Laundry) was on the National Register of Historic Places. The company was sold in 1985 and closed in 1987. The Cranston Street building was built in 1906, expanded in 1925, damaged by fire in 2001, and demolished in 2008.

The New England Butt Company is a historic factory building at 304 Pearl Street in Providence, Rhode Island. It is a 3+1⁄2-story brick structure with a monitor roof, built in 1865 to designs by Spencer P. Read. The New England Butt Company originally manufactured cast iron butt hinges, but later changed to producing machinery for braiding and stranding wire. Many of the machines are still used today by wire companies throughout the world. The New England Butt Company factory building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The drawings for all of the stranding machinery were sold to Watson Machinery International in Paterson, New Jersey in the mid 1980s. The drawings for all of the braiding machines were sold to Wardwell Braiding Company in Central Falls, Rhode Island, at the same time.Watson went out of business in 2001 and the drawings were purchased by Kinrei of America, LLC. Today, information about the older stranding machines is available through Kinrei of America, LLC, in Wayne, New Jersey.

The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the Cathedral Square neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island, United States. It is the mother church of the Diocese of Providence. The Neo-Romanesque church was designed in 1873 by Patrick Keely and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

The First Universalist Church is a historic church at 250 Washington Street in Providence, Rhode Island. The brick Gothic church was designed by Edwin L. Howland, a prominent local architect, and built in 1871–72. It is the third sanctuary for a congregation that was founded in 1821 through the efforts of Reverend John Murray, "the founder of American Universalism". It is one of the few remaining church buildings in central Providence, an area that once housed a large number of churches.The church building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence (Latin: Dioecesis Providentiensis) is a diocese of the Catholic Church in the United States. The diocese was erected by Pope Pius IX on February 17, 1872 and originally comprised the entire state of Rhode Island and the counties of Bristol, Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket in the state of Massachusetts. On March 12, 1904, those four counties were separated from the Diocese of Providence to form the Diocese of Fall River, Massachusetts, leaving the Diocese of Providence with just the state of Rhode Island. The diocese is suffragan to the Archdiocese of Hartford and a part of the ecclesiastical province that includes that archdiocese and the suffragan dioceses of Bridgeport and Norwich. The Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul in Providence is the mother church of the diocese of Providence. The Most Reverend Thomas Joseph Tobin, former Bishop of Youngstown, Ohio, is the eighth, and current, Bishop of Providence.

The Jones Warehouses are an historic industrial area at 49–63 Central Street in Providence, Rhode Island. It is a complex of five buildings, of which four were built as storage facilities. The fifth building is a 3+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure with a clerestory roof, built 1861–1865 by Winsor and Brown as a munitions factory; it was converted into a storage facility in the 1890s. This building is one of the oldest factory buildings in the city, its historic structure clearly visible despite the addition of storage vaults. Between 1890 and 1900 three brick buildings, respectively two, five, and seven stories in height, were built behind the old factory building, and are among the oldest purpose-built warehouses in the city. The second of these was designed by the local firm of Gould, Angell & Swift, and exhibits modest Richardsonian Romanesque styling. A five-story reinforced concrete structure was added to the complex around 1927.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
