St. Charles Borromeo Church Complex (Woonsocket, Rhode Island)

Woonsocket ( wuun-SOK-it, wən-), is a city in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 43,240 at the 2020 census, making it the sixth largest city in the state. Being Rhode Island's northernmost city, Woonsocket lies directly south of the Massachusetts state line and constitutes part of both the Providence metropolitan area and the larger Greater Boston Combined Statistical Area. The city is the corporate headquarters of CVS Health, a pharmacy services provider. It is home to Landmark Medical Center, the Museum of Work and Culture, and the American-French Genealogical Society.

The First Universalist Church is a former Universalist church at 78 Earle Street in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Built in 1924 and enlarged in 1957, it is a good example of 20th-century Gothic Revival architecture. The congregation for which it was built was established in the 1820s, in part through the efforts of Hosea Ballou, an influential early Universalist minister who also had business interests in Woonsocket. The congregation was disbanded in 2007, and the building now houses the American-French Genealogical Society. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

The Cato Hill Historic District is a residential historic district (United States) in central Woonsocket, Rhode Island. It consists of about 2-1/2 blocks of Church and Cato Streets, as well as the streets crossing them (Clarkin Lane and Boyden Street). The area, located on a hill just above Woonsocket's downtown area, is a densely populated area built primarily between 1838 and 1875, during Woonsocket's growth as a major textile processing center. Cato Hill is named for Cato Aldrich, an African American who purchased the land from the Arnolds who founded Woonsocket. The houses of the district exhibit vernacular forms of the architectural styles popular in the mid-19th century.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The Pothier House is a historic house in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. This modest L-shaped 1+1⁄2-story cottage is notable as the longtime home of Woonsocket Mayor (and later Governor of Rhode Island) Aram J. Pothier. Pothier's father purchased the house c. 1881, and it was the younger Pothier's home until his death (while serving as governor) in 1928.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Linton Block was a historic site in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. It was a 4-storey office and domestic accommodation block built by Robert Linton in 1888 to house his drug store. Built in a Queen Anne/Romanesque style, the brick facade was ornamented with brickwork patterning and terra cotta panels and the side elevations embellished with cut shingles.It was badly damaged by fire in 1890. It was added to the National Historic Register in 1982. It was destroyed by fire on March 22, 2000.

The Woonsocket Civil War Monument is a historic site at Monument Square in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. It was built to memorialize thirty-nine fallen soldiers from Woonsocket who took part in the Civil War.Built in 1868 by James G. Batterson, this Civil War memorial was the first Civil War monument constructed in Rhode Island. The monument is made out of granite and is topped with a statue of a Civil War soldier. The names of the battles in which Woonsocket soldiers fought are inscribed on the monument. The monument was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Stadium Theatre Performing Arts Centre & Conservatory is a historic movie theater and concert venue and commercial building at 28 Monument Square in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The complex consists of two connected sections, one housing the theater, the other offices, both with retail spaces on the ground floor. The theater was designed by Perry and Whipple of Providence and built in 1926. Initial funding came from Mrs. Norbert Champeau, a widow with interest in the theater, but the project was soon taken over by Arthur I. Darman, a local industrialist. Although it lacked the opulence of theaters in larger cities, it was one of the most elaborately decorated performance spaces in Woonsocket.The theatre's name comes from the "stadium" style of seating, which allowed everyone in the audience a good view of the stage.

The L'Union Saint Jean-Baptiste d'Amerique is a historic building at 1 Social Street in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Built in 1926, it housed a fraternal benefit society for French Canadian Roman Catholic immigrants for many years, serving a significant immigrant population in the community. The building is also a prominent example of Classical Revival architecture, designed by a French Canadian immigrant architect, Walter F. Fontaine. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.

The U.S. Post Office (now known as the Woonsocket YMCA) is a historic former post office building at 295 Main Street in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The single-story masonry building was built 1910-12 and served as Woonsocket's main post office until 1975.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is now part of the Woonsocket YMCA.

World War II Veterans Memorial State Park is a public recreation area located in the city of Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The park occupies land known as the Social flatlands where textile mills operated along the banks of the Mill River until the early years of the 20th century. Since 1979, the park has hosted the three-day Autumnfest celebration held annually on Columbus Day Weekend.

The Harris Warehouse is an historic storage facility on 61 Railroad Street in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The 3-1/2 story stone structure, built in 1855, by Edward Harris, a leading Woonsocket industrialist, rises abruptly from the street opposite the railroad tracks. The building is distinctive for its rubble stone construction, and its curved facade, designed to match the layout of the railroad spur on which it is located.The warehouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Woonsocket station is a former railroad station located at Depot Square in downtown Woonsocket, Rhode Island. It was built by the Providence and Worcester Railroad in 1882 to replace a previous station built in 1847.
