Courier Building, also known as the Frazee Block, Cutlery Block, Fire Engineer Block, and Potter Building, is a historic commercial building located in Downtown Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York. It was built in 1844, and is a four-story, trapezoidal shaped, Greek Revival style painted brick building. It was updated in 1918 with Chicago Commercial style design elements when modified for use as a Moose Lodge (1918-1946). The Courier newspaper occupied the building from 1856 to 1905. It was the site of Daniel Webster's 1851 "Syracuse Speech" in which he equated resistance to the Fugitive Slave Law with treason. In response, crowds in the area freed an escaped slave from the custody of federal marshals, galvanizing opposition to slavery in Central New York.: 5, 11–12 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

The Erie Canal Museum is a historical museum about the Erie Canal located in Syracuse, New York. The museum was founded in 1962 and is a private, non-profit corporation. It is housed in the Syracuse Weighlock Building dating from 1850. The Syracuse Weighlock Building was in operation as a weighlock from 1850 to 1883. In 1883 the canal decided to stop charging tolls. The weighlock building was essentially used as a big, elaborate scale to weigh the boats traveling on the Erie Canal and determine how much each boat would pay for a toll. Today the museum includes not only artifacts from the Erie Canal, but also a gallery of present canal life. It is the mission of the museum to help people to learn the rich history of the Erie Canal and that it is not just a thing of the past, but still very much exists today in different forms. The museum's Weighlock Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The Hills Building is a high-rise office building located in Syracuse, New York.

The State Tower Building is a high-rise building located in Syracuse, New York. Completed in 1928, the building remains the highest in Syracuse. It has around 23 floors and is around 312 feet (95 meters) tall. For several years after the Bastable Theatre burnt down in a 1923 fire, the plot of land was considered as the potential site of a new theatre or an office building. Eventually the plot's owners, Central Offices decided to build an office building. Designed by Thompson & Churchill, work began on the foundation of the State Tower Building in 1927. The tower was completed by late April 1928. It initially functioned as an office building, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing property in the Hanover Square Historic District. In 2016 the building was bought by different owners, who redeveloped the top floors into high-end apartments; retaining just the first eight floors as office space.

The Bastable Theatre was a theatre in Syracuse, New York, from 1893 to 1923, when it burnt down. First built by Frederick Bastable, Sam S. Shubert began his theatre management at the Bastable in 1897. He and his brothers established The Shubert Organization, which became a major theatre owner. During Shubert's early years of management, he competed with the city's Wieting Opera House, which was controlled by The Theatrical Syndicate. The Bastable itself hosted a number of touring companies in the city and became known for hosting stock companies and melodramas. The State Tower Building was constructed on the site of the theatre after it burnt down.

St. Paul's Cathedral in Syracuse, New York was designed by Henry Dudley, who worked with Frank Wills until Wills' early death in 1857.The church is located at 310 Montgomery Street in downtown Syracuse.

Hanover Square in downtown Syracuse is actually a triangle at the intersection of Warren, Water, and East Genesee Streets. The name may also refer to the larger Hanover Square Historic District which includes seventeen historic buildings in the area that was the first commercial district in Syracuse. In the warm weather months, entertainment is common on the plaza around the fountain. Workers in the surrounding office buildings and retail establishments often lunch there.

The Central New York Telephone and Telegraph Building, also known as the Onondaga Historical Association Building, designed by Henry W. Wilkinson, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and is part of the Montgomery Street-Columbus Circle Historic District, listed in 1979. It was the first building in Syracuse designed specifically to house the telephone company, and did so from 1899 to 1905, when the company moved to bigger facilities. In 1905, the Onondaga Historical Association purchased the building.

The Gere Bank Building is a five-story building located on Water Street in Syracuse, New York. It was designed by Charles Colton, and built in 1894. It is distinctive for its facade and use of contrasting materials. The cost of the building was $150,000, including nearly $50,000 for fireproof vaults in a room beneath the sidewalk. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. It is part of the Hanover Square Historic District. The Carnegie Building in Syracuse, New York, previously known as the Syracuse Public Library, is a historic Carnegie library on Montgomery Street at Jefferson Circle in downtown Syracuse. It was built by the City of Syracuse in 1905-06, and came into County of Onondaga ownership in 1976. The building served as a library for 83 years and was the main library of the Syracuse Public Library system, which merged with Onondaga County's library system in 1976 to become the Onondaga County Public Library System. As "Carnegie Library", it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing building in the Montgomery Street–Columbus Circle Historic District in 1980. Following acquisition and renovation by the Carnegie Redevelopment Corp., a local development corporation, the building was leased by the Syracuse city school district for 15 years, from 1996 - 2012 when the school district chose not to renew its lease option. In 2019, after it had sat vacant for eight years, a proposal was floated to renovate it for $4.1 million to hold city and county planning and economic development offices and save on the city's rental costs. The plan was approved in 2021 and work began in 2022, but its current status is unknown as of July 2024.

The Gridley Building, built in 1867 and known previously as the Onondaga County Savings Bank Building, is a prominent historic building on Clinton Square and Hanover Square in Syracuse, New York, United States. It was designed by Horatio Nelson White and was built adjacent to what was then the Erie Canal and is now Erie Boulevard.

The Onondaga County Savings Bank was chartered in 1855 in Syracuse, New York. It was a franchise ahead of its time and had four separate branches by the late 19th century. The Onondaga County Savings Bank Building was constructed in 1897 adjacent to the Erie Canal in Clinton Square.In 1968, the bank shortened its name to Onondaga Savings Bank and in 1987 it changed again to OnBank.
