Knaresborough Zoo was a zoo located in the grounds of Conyngham Hall, Knaresborough, a small market town within the district of Harrogate, North Yorkshire. It opened on 29 July 1965 and closed on 13 January 1986.

The viaduct can be seen striking across the Nidd Gorge from the ruins of Knaresborough Castle and is a well-known viewpoint in the town. One writer has stated that it is one of the region's better known landmarks.

Nidderdale was a rural district in the West Riding of Yorkshire from 1938 to 1974. It was created from the combination of most of the disbanded rural districts of Great Ouseburn and Knaresborough. [1] The district covered villages in the lower valley of the River Nidd between Hampsthwaite and York. Despite its name it included only a small part of Nidderdale, most of which was in Ripon and Pateley Bridge Rural District. It bordered Harrogate and Knaresborough urban districts on their west, north and east.Charles Stourton, 26th Baron Mowbray, the premier baron, served on the district council from 1954 until 1959.In 1974 it was merged with other districts under the Local Government Act 1972 to form part of the district of Harrogate in the new county of North Yorkshire.

Jacob Smith Park is a park owned by Harrogate Borough Council in the outskirts of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, England. It is located in Scriven, and was opened in 2008.

The early-fifteenth century Chapel of Our Lady of the Crag is located in an old quarry on Abbey Road beside the Nidd Gorge at Knaresborough and is an early 15th century chapel cut out of the sandstone of the river gorge cliff face. It is a Marian shrine on the old pilgrim's route to the now demolished Knaresborough Priory and close to the ancient stone quarry that was used for building works at Knaresborough Castle, the parish church and elsewhere. It was also once known as Quarry Chapel or Our Lady of the Quarry.

Nidd Gorge makes up a section of the River Nidd in North Yorkshire, England, in which the river enters a deep ravine with sheer, tree covered valley sides. The river as a whole flows from its source near Great Whernside in Nidderdale (part of the Yorkshire Dales), to its confluence with the River Ouse near Nun Monkton. Nidd Gorge makes up approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) of the entire length of the river, and stretches from the now defunct Nidd viaduct at Bilton in Harrogate to Grimbald Bridge, just south of Knaresborough.

Scriven is a village and civil parish in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England, close to the town of Knaresborough. From 1947 to 1998 Scriven was part of the Claro Registration District, until this was abolished. It is situated north-west of the A6055 road from Bond End and situated north-east of the B6165 Ripley Road. Scriven-with-Tentergate was a parish however in modern days it is now known as Scriven due to a boundary change. The name Scriven originally meant "Hollow-place" with pits and could have referred to the quarrying that occurred nearby. Tentergate however contains the derivative "gate", which is the Scandinavian translation for street, and was the place where cloth was stretched for drying.
