The Alameda-Depot Historic District, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The listing included 271 contributing buildings and a contributing site, on 70 acres (28 ha).It has also been known as the Las Cruces Depot-Alameda Historic District. Las Cruces Catholic School is a private, Roman Catholic PreK, Elementary, and middle school in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It was established in 1927. It is located within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces. It is an affiliate member of the NMAA.

Mayfield High School (MHS) is one of four traditional public high schools in Las Cruces, New Mexico. As of 2009–10, the school has over 2,300 students and 130 teachers, and covers grades 9–12. The school is a part of the Las Cruces Public Schools district.

The Diocese of Las Cruces (Latin: Dioecesis Las Cruces, Spanish: Diócesis de Las Cruces) is the Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in southern New Mexico in the United States. It is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Santa Fe. The mother church of the Diocese of Las Cruces is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Las Cruces. As of 2023, the bishop is Peter Baldacchino.

The Rio Grande Theatre in Las Cruces, New Mexico was opened on July 29, 1926. The theatre was built by Seale and Dyne and operated by the Central Theatres Corporation of Denver. The first movie shown was the silent movie Mare Nostrum, directed by Rex Ingram. Fox West Coast Theatres bought the Rio Grande Theatre in October 1929. The Fox chain installed sound equipment and showed a sound picture for the October 20, 1929 opening night. The theatre survived both an earthquake and a fire in the early 1930s. It remained in operation until 1997, when it closed due to financial hardship. The theatre was purchased by the Dona Ana Arts Council and restored, opening again in 2005.

Thomas Branigan Memorial Library; often referred to as simply "Branigan", is the public library serving Las Cruces, New Mexico and is part of Las Cruces Public Libraries.

Doña Ana County (Spanish: Condado de Doña Ana) is located in the southern part of the State of New Mexico, United States. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, its population was 219,561, which makes it the second-most populated county in New Mexico. Its county seat is Las Cruces, the second-most populous municipality in New Mexico after Albuquerque, with 111,385 as of the 2020 U.S. Census.The county is named for Doña Ana Robledo, who died there in 1680 while fleeing the Pueblo Revolt. Doña Ana County is one of only two counties in the United States to have a diacritical mark in its name, the other being Coös County, New Hampshire. Notably, both Doña Ana County and Coös County lie on short international borders, the former with Mexico and the latter with Canada. Doña Ana County consists of the Las Cruces, NM Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the El Paso–Las Cruces, TX–NM Combined Statistical Area. It borders Luna, Sierra, and Otero counties in New Mexico, and El Paso County, Texas to the east and southeast. The state of Chihuahua, Mexico, borders the county to the south. Construction of an improved barrier on the border was expedited in 2019 with waivers of environmental and other laws. The waivers applied to 27 laws, including protection of endangered species, archaeological sites, and historic places.Being 67.3% Hispanic in 2020, Doña Ana is New Mexico's largest majority-Hispanic county.

The Nestor Armijo House is a historic house in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It was built in 1870 for Bradford Daily and his wife Maricita. In 1877, it was purchased by Nestor Armijo, a merchant and rancher. When his granddaughters were orphaned in 1902, they moved into his house and lived with him until he died in 1911. One of them, Josephine Armijo Gallagher, lived here with her four children, while the other sister, Gertrude Armijo Ascarate, "refurbished the small building containing the old kitchen and dining room for her residence"; she died in the 1970s. The house was designed in the Late Victorian architectural style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 12, 1976.

Las Cruces (; Spanish: [las 'kruses] "the crosses") is the second-most populous city in the U.S. state of New Mexico and the seat of Doña Ana County. As of the 2020 census the population was 111,385. Las Cruces is the most populous city in both Doña Ana County and southern New Mexico. The Las Cruces metropolitan area had an estimated population of 213,849 in 2017. It is the principal city of a metropolitan statistical area which encompasses all of Doña Ana County and is part of the larger El Paso–Las Cruces combined statistical area with a population of 1,088,420 making it the 56th largest combined statistical area in the United States. Las Cruces is the economic and geographic center of the Mesilla Valley, the agricultural region on the floodplain of the Rio Grande which extends from Hatch to the west side of El Paso, Texas. Las Cruces is the home of New Mexico State University (NMSU), New Mexico's only land-grant university. The city's major employer is the federal government on nearby White Sands Test Facility and White Sands Missile Range. The Organ Mountains, 10 miles (16 km) to the east, are dominant in the city's landscape, along with the Doña Ana Mountains, Robledo Mountains, and Picacho Peak. Las Cruces lies 225 miles (362 km) south of Albuquerque, 42 miles (68 km) northwest of El Paso, Texas and 41 miles (66 km) north of the Mexican border at Sunland Park. Spaceport America, which has corporate offices in Las Cruces, operates from 55 miles (89 km) to the north; it has completed several successful crewed, sub-orbital flights. The city is also the headquarters for Virgin Galactic, the world's first company to offer sub-orbital spaceflights.

The Basilica of San Albino (Spanish: Basílica de San Albino), formerly known as San Albino Church of Mesilla, is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces and is located in Mesilla, New Mexico. It has the distinction of having originally been established in Mexico, but it is now located in the United States as a result of a transfer of territory in the Gadsden Purchase. The first church on the site was built in 1852; the current structure was built in 1906, and is one of the oldest churches in the region. Daily Masses are held in both Spanish and English.

Mesilla Plaza is the central plaza in the small town of Mesilla in far southern New Mexico. The plaza and a number of its surrounding buildings are a National Historic Landmark District, significant for its role in the transfers of power that brought first the original New Mexico Territory and later the Gadsden Purchase into United States control. The most notable building facing the plaza is the Basilica of San Albino, which has been on the plaza since its establishment in 1851. The plaza was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961.

The Barela-Reynolds House is a historic adobe and brick building complex on the historic plaza in Mesilla, New Mexico, with a store at the front and a house at the rear. A zaguan (covered entryway) leads to a rear courtyard about 30 by 30 feet (9.1 m × 9.1 m) in plan, enclosed by the buildings, the oldest of which were built around 1850. Two separate parts were merged into one property in 1903. North of the zaguan was a store operated during the 1850s by trader Mariano Yrissari and later by trader Mariano Barela. The front of this portion is topped by a triangular parapet, a Greek Revival style feature adopted into New Mexico's Territorial style, and the triangle is repeated in pedimented lintels of two doorways and two large windows. This part was a silversmith shop, "El Platero", in 1977 (per National Register nomination), which moved to the other part by 2009 (per photo). South of the zaguan is a portion occupied by an antique shop, "Las Viejas", in 1977 (and occupied by "El Platero" in 2009). This part has a cast iron front and a metal, bracketed cornice, with a flagpole centered above. It was the "notions and dry goods department" of the Reynolds and Griggs Co., a firm which operated feed and grocery business in the next building to the south, not part of this property.Part of the complex was built around 1850, the year that the New Mexico Territory was established, for Anastacio Barela and his wife, Maria Rafaela Garcia Barela. It was purchased and remodelled by William Charles Reynolds in 1903–04. From 1913 to 1937, it belonged to Fr. Juan Grange of San Albino Church, who taught catechism here. Part of the present property was purchased and refurbished by J. Paul Taylor in 1953. The building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since January 20, 1978.
