Grünhorn

The Klein Grünhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps in Switzerland, situated north of the Gross Grünhorn in the canton of Valais.

Hinteres Fiescherhorn is a summit of the Bernese Alps and build together with Grosses and Kleines Fiescherhorn the Fiescherhörner. It is located in the Swiss canton of Valais near the border with the canton of Berne.

Kleines Fiescherhorn or the Ochs (English: ox) is a mountain peak of the Bernese Alps, situated on the border between the cantons of Berne and Valais in Switzerland. Together with Grosses and Hinteres Fiescherhorn to the west they build the Fiescherhörner.

Grosses Fiescherhorn is a mountain peak of the Bernese Alps, located on the border between the cantons of Bern and ValaisValais, halfway between the Mönch and the Finsteraarhorn. At 4,049 metres (13,284 ft) above sea level, its summit culminates over the whole Fiescherhorn massif (German: Fiescherhörner), which is also composed of the slightly lower Hinteres Fiescherhorn (4,025 m (13,205 ft)) to the south and Kleines Fiescherhorn (also called Ochs aka ox, 3,895 m (12,779 ft)) to the east. From the north both are well hidden behind other mountain peaks and can only been seen from Isch in Grindelwald (1,095 m). The mountain is shared between the municipalities of Grindelwald and Fieschertal. Ascents are usually made from one of these three popular routes: one starts from the Mönchsjoch Hut, one from the Konkordia Hut, and the third from the Finsteraarhorn Hut.

The Konkordia Hut (German: Konkordiahütte) is a mountain hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, located north of Fieschertal in the canton of Valais. The hut lies above Konkordiaplatz, the point of convergence of several glaciers in the great Aletsch Glacier system of the Bernese Alps. It is located at a height of 2,850 metres above sea level, at the foot of the Fülbärg.

The Lower Grindelwald Glacier (German: Unterer Grindelwaldgletscher) is a Glacier in the Swiss Bernese Alps, situated to the south-east of Grindelwald. It starts below the Agassizhorn and the Strahlegghörner and is connected with the Finsteraar Glacier via the Finsteraarjoch (3,390 m (11,120 ft)). The Lower Grindelwald Glacier yet has a major tributary, the Ischmeer (Swiss German for Ice Sea, formerly known as Grindelwald-Fiescher Glacier, German: Grindelwald-Fieschergletscher), which is the glacier overlooked by the Jungfrau Railway's Eismeer railway station. The Lower Grindelwald Glacier was about 8.3 kilometres (5.2 mi) long and covered an area of 20.8 km2 (8.0 sq mi) in 1973. The glacier has significantly shrunk since, having a length of just 6.2 kilometres (3.9 mi) in 2015, with most of the retreat (1.9 km (1.2 mi)) happening since 2007.In the middle of the 19th century it clearly reached into the valley of Grindelwald as far as Mettenberg at an altitude of 983 m (3,225 ft), an eastern quarter of Grindelwald, near the conjunction of the Schwarze and Weisse Lütschine In 1900, it still reached as far as Rote Fluh (1,200 m (3,900 ft)) and filled the entire valley of its current end, the glacier lake, with a thickness of about 300 metres (980 ft) up to an altitude of 1,700 metres (5,600 ft), just below the current hiking path around the Bänisegg. Around 2000 it still reached into the gorge between the Hörnli (Eiger) and Mättenberg. The Lower Grindelwald Glacier should not be confused with the Upper Grindelwald Glacier, situated to its north-east. The Grindelwald-Fiescher Glacier should not be confused with the like-named Fiescher Glacier, to the south of the Fiescherhorn.

The Konkordiaplatz or Concordia Place (French: Place de la Concorde), is a flat area of snow and ice lying just to the south of the Jungfrau in the Bernese Alps in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is the junction of four large glaciers coming down from the Aletschfirn, the Jungfraufirn, the Ewigschneefäld and the Grüneggfirn. The main Aletsch Glacier originates from Konkordiaplatz. The Konkordiaplatz Charter was signed by the municipalities located in the Jungfrau-Aletsch Protected Area UNESCO World Heritage site, vowing to retain the aesthetic beauty of the region.

The Schreckhorn Hut (German: Schreckhornhütte) is a mountain hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, located south of Grindelwald in the canton of Bern. The hut lies at a height of 2,529 metres above sea level, above the Lower Grindelwald Glacier, at the foot of the Schreckhorn in the Bernese Alps. From Grindelwald and Pfingstegg a trail leads to the hut via Bäregg.

The Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area (officially Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch) is located in south-western Switzerland between the cantons of Berne and Valais. It is a mountainous region in the easternmost side of the Bernese Alps, containing the northern wall of Jungfrau and Eiger, and the largest glaciated area in western Eurasia, comprising the Aletsch Glacier. The Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area is the first World Natural Heritage site in the Alps; it was inscribed in 2001.

The Trugberg is a mountain in the Bernese Alps, located south of the Mönch in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. It is located above the Konkordiaplatz where the névé of the Jungfraufirn on the west side and the Ewigschneefeld on the east side converge to form the Aletsch Glacier. Debris accumulating on both sides of the mountain form one of the two important supraglacial moraines of the Aletsch Glacier. During their ascent of the Jungfrau in 1841, a group of explorers including Pierre Jean Édouard Desor and Louis Agassiz for a while thought that the Trugberg, hiding the Jungfrau from sight, was their destination. Eventually, they realized their error and decided to name the mountain Trugberg, meaning Deceitful Mountain.The Trugberg was first climbed 13 July 1871 by Dr. Emil Burckardt from Basel, with the two local guides Peter Egger and Peter Schlegel. The route they took was by the east flank.

The Bergli Hut (German: Berglihütte or Bärglihütte) is a mountain hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, located south of Grindelwald in the canton of Bern. It lies at a height of 3,299 metres above sea level on a rocky outcrop of the Eismeer, the glacier at the eastern foot of the Eiger and the Mönch. The border with the canton of Valais runs 500 metres south of the hut. The hut is set in a remote area and is accessible only to mountaineers as all accesses involve glacier crossing. The shortest access is from the Jungfraujoch train station.

The Kleines Schreckhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located south of Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland. It lies between the valleys of the Lower Grindelwald Glacier and the Upper Grindelwald Glacier, north of the Schreckhorn.
