Lake Tuscaloosa

Byler Road is the oldest public road in Alabama still in use today. Constructed in the mid-1820s, it connected Courtland near the Tennessee River with Tuscaloosa near the Black Warrior River. The road spurred development in Lawrence, Winston, Walker, and Fayette counties, and was traveled by both Union and Confederate armies during the Civil War. A half-mile section of the road in Tuscaloosa County was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

NorthRiver Yacht Club is a private golf club in Tuscaloosa, Alabama which officially opened in 1978. The course was originally designed by professional golfer Gary Player but was redesigned in 1997 and 2015 by architect Bob Cupp. The course features tifeagle bermudagrass greens. and is set up to both challenge expert players while being forgiving to beginners still new to the game. The club also contains the Wee Links, which is an area for players to work on shorter shots, and practice greens for putting. The course is owned and Operated by Troon, who officially took ownership in 2015.The signature hole at NorthRiver is the 17th, which is a par 3 hole featuring a green on a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by water.Besides golf, NorthRiver offers 11 fully lighted tennis courts, a large outdoor pool open during the summer, and a smaller heated indoor outdoor pool that is open year-round. There is also dining at The Warner Lodge, a hotel.

Ol' Colony Golf Complex is a municipal public golf course in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The 18-hole course opened in December 2000 on 597 acres that was once a farm plantation for a mental institution named Cain's Colony. Ol' Colony was designed by professional golfer Jerry Pate, who played golf for The University of Alabama. The University of Alabama made Ol’ Colony its home course and constructed a training facility, The Jerry Pate Center, on the grounds in 2005. In 2008, Golf Digest ranked Ol’ Colony as one of the Top 100 "Best Places You Can Play" and recently a "Top 10 in Alabama Course."Ol’ Colony also operates the Tuscaloosa chapter of The First Tee program, a youth golf program designed to promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.

Northport is a city in Tuscaloosa County in the west central part of the State of Alabama. Located on the Black Warrior River across from downtown Tuscaloosa, it is currently the 17th largest city in Alabama with an population of 31,125 in the 2020 US Census. It incorporated in 1871. It is part of the Tuscaloosa Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Northridge High School is a public high school in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States, enrolling just over 1000 students in grades 9–12 as of spring 2021. It is one of three high schools in the Tuscaloosa City School District. It offers technical and academic programs, as well as joint enrollment with Shelton State Community College and the University of Alabama. Northridge High School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Founded in 2003, Northridge is one of the two youngest public high schools in Tuscaloosa. After the retirement of Central High School East, the Tuscaloosa City School system divided the city into three schools: Northridge High School, Paul W. Bryant High School (both of which were opened in 2003), and Central High School. Northridge High School is located on the north side of the Black Warrior River on Northridge Road.

The North River is a 77-mile-long (124 km) river in the western portion of the state of Alabama, United States. It is a tributary of the Black Warrior River, joining it just north of Tuscaloosa.

Tuscaloosa County High School original building was completed in 1926. The first graduating class was summer of 1927. The Principal was Dr. Houston Cole, who later became President of Jacksonville State University. The first student government for the school was organized in 1928. Hiram Darden was the first president. Secretary for that class was Inez Deal. The treasurer was Dan Whitson. Built as a high school for the county, many rural county schools were closed. Due to this school being built, a county wide school busing system was enacted. Students were bused from many miles away in the county to the school. Students came from south, north and west rural sections of the county. Many of them from south Tuscaloosa County were bused across the City of Tuscaloosa to get to County High. During the 1940s, the school building was the high point in local political rallies. Political rallies were held all across the county and only a few days before the election, a big county wide political rally was at County High Alabama’s first female Governor, Lurleen Burns Wallace, was a student. County High was last used in December 2000. A new school about five miles north was completed and all functions of the school were transferred to the new school over the school break.

The Paul Bryant Bridge is a four-lane, 150-foot-tall (46 m), $28 million bridge spanning the Black Warrior River along Alabama State Route 297 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Construction of the 3,785-foot-long (1,154 m), twin-span bridge commenced in March 2000. Originally slated to open in December 2003, construction delays resulted in its opening on April 23, 2004.Serving as the fourth crossing of the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa County, this was the first phase of the larger Warrior Loop project slated for completion by 2012. Constructed by the R.R. Dawson Bridge Company, during the course of its construction, two workers died while on the job in October 2001 and again in April 2003. In January 2003, then Governor Don Siegleman ordered state transportation director Paul Bowlin to name the bridge in honor of long-time University of Alabama head football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant.

The Woolsey Finnell Bridge is a four-lane, girder bridge spanning the Black Warrior River along U.S. Route 82 (McFarland Boulevard) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama that opened in 1961. The bridge takes its name from the former state director of highways for Alabama, Woolsey Finnell. This is one of only four vehicular bridges spanning the Black Warrior in Tuscaloosa. Due to both the age of the structure as well as the bridge operating well above its designed capacity by the 1990s, calls for a new span across the river to alleviate some of the congestion were proposed. Both the Warrior Loop and the Paul Bryant Bridge are expected to absorb some of the 55,000 daily trips made across the bridge upon their respective completions.

The Northport Historic District comprises the central business district of Northport, Alabama. The district comprises 20 blocks and 134 structures, dating mainly to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly 1920–1925, when the town was rebuilt after a period of decline caused by an 1850 fire and the American Civil War. The earliest structures date to 1840. Most commercial buildings are brick one and two story buildings with flat roofs. Seven wood frame warehouses remain.The Northport Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 1, 1980.
