Mount Houston is a community in north central Harris County, Texas. It is east of U.S. Highway 59, near the Dyersdale oil field.Mount Houston was established along the Houston, East and West Texas Railway. At that time it was 10 miles (16 km) away from Houston. A post office opened in 1910. In 1914 Mount Houston had 100 people. It featured several market gardeners. It included two churches, a sawmill, and a lumber company. The post office closed in 1918. By the 1980s Mount Houston did not significantly increase in size. Within 1 mile (1.6 km) of Mount Houston, three schools and three churches had been established.

East Aldine is a state management district in Harris County, Texas, United States, mostly in unincorporated areas, with some territory in the City of Houston. The East Aldine Improvement District, also known as the Aldine Management District, governs the area. Portions of the district coincide with the boundaries of the Aldine census-designated place. One park owned by the City of Houston, Keith-Wiess Park, is within the district limits.

The Golf Club of Houston is a private golf club in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, near Humble and northeast of Houston. The club contains two 18-hole courses; the Member Course is private, while the Tournament Course is open to the public. The Tournament Course was designed by Rees Jones and tour pro David Toms. The club hosted the Houston Open from 2003–2019.

The Texas Children's Houston Open is a professional golf tournament in Texas on the PGA Tour, played in November. As a part of a restructuring of the schedule, the event moved to the fall in 2019. Because the tour year starts the previous fall, the event was not a part of the 2019 PGA Tour, but was one of the first events of the 2020 PGA Tour. It is held at the Memorial Park Municipal Golf Course in Harris County near downtown Houston and the Galleria.

Dyersdale is an Unincorporated community in Harris County, Texas, United States. The name originates from Clement C. Dyer, one of the "Old Three Hundred" of Stephen F. Austin's colonists.A post office opened in 1913. In 1914 the community, with 250 residents, had a lumber company. The post office closed in 1917. An oilfield opened in the mid-1930s. In 1936 the community had scattered residences and a school. By 1946 the oilfield was still in production. In the 1980s Dyersdale had an abandoned railroad station, a church, and a trailer park.

Scenic Woods is a neighborhood located in northeast Houston, Texas, United States, near Homestead Road and Parker Road. The community is populated by working class African Americans. The community is a quiet family oriented place with manicured lawns and well maintained homes.Scenic Woods is a traditionally African-American neighborhood. Fontaine Place adjoins Scenic Woods.

M.B. Smiley High School was a public secondary school in Houston, Texas, United States. Smiley, which served grades 9 through 12, and was a part of the North Forest Independent School District. M.B. Smiley was featured in the film Fighting the Odds: The Marilyn Gambrell Story, which aired on Lifetime. The campus later was used as the main campus for North Forest High School. As of 2022 it is used as the Houston Independent School District Education Learning Center. Marilyn Gambrell, a parole officer who became a teacher, started a program called "No More Victims", which was designed to prevent children of incarcerated individuals from going to prison. The library, the Carole M. Anderson Library, was named after Carole Mae Anderson, a Smiley English teacher who donated books to the school's previous library facility.

The Aldine Independent School District is a public school district based in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States. It serves portions of Houston and unincorporated Harris County. Aldine ISD serves the communities of Aldine, most of Greenspoint, most of East Aldine, and portions of Airline, Acres Homes, Kinwood, Bordersville, and Inwood Forest. The district is part of the taxation base for the Lone Star College System. As of 2020, Dr. LaTonya Goffney serves as superintendent of schools.

The M.O. Campbell Educational Center is an indoor arena in Houston, Texas. The facility serves as the home basketball and volleyball court for the five high schools in the Aldine Independent School District (AISD). The Campbell Center is also used for graduations, theatrical performances, meetings, conferences, banquets and community events. The arena seats 7,000 people and is located on Aldine-Bender Road just south of Beltway 8, a short distance from George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Greenspoint Mall. It is named for M.O. Campbell, who served as AISD superintendent from 1973 to 1986 and who is credited with moving the district to a cash-basis operation.The Campbell Center has hosted many events in its history, including the men's and women's Southland Conference collegiate basketball tournament, the Houston vs. the Nation high school basketball tournament (formerly the Academy National Invitational), the Texas Class 4A and 5A Region III high school basketball playoffs, the Class 5A high school Region III volleyball playoffs, and the University Interscholastic League state powerlifting tournament.
