The Garfield water wheel, sometimes referred to as the Forrest Creek Mine water wheel, was a large water wheel used to power a stamper battery at a gold mine near Chewton, Victoria, Australia. Constructed in 1887, the water wheel was used until 1903 and then was dismantled in 1904. There are some remnants at its location.

Chewton is a town in central Victoria, Australia in the Shire of Mount Alexander local government area, 116 kilometres north west of the state capital, Melbourne. At the 2016 census, Chewton had a population of 1313.

North Central Province was an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Council (Australia). Barkers Creek is a locality in central Victoria, Australia. The locality is in the Shire of Mount Alexander, 125 kilometres (78 mi) north west of the state capital, Melbourne. It is essentially an extension of the larger town of Castlemaine, nearby to the south. At the 2016 census, Barkers Creek had a population of 457.

HM Prison Loddon is an Australian low-medium security prison, located in Central Victoria, Australia, approximately four kilometres from the centre of Castlemaine and 128 km north-west of Melbourne. Loddon is a campus style prison, within a secure perimeter, providing accommodation for 468 medium security prisoners. The landscaped grounds, modern buildings and wide range of programs and activities provide an environment and facilities which, as closely as possible, resembles those available in the general community.In July 2014 Loddon prison expanded adding a new unit Middleton which is a restricted-minimum rated men's prison. Prisoners at Middleton live in self-catered, cottage style accommodation where they are responsible for cooking their own meals. Middleton has a capacity of 248.

Harcourt is a closed station located on the Bendigo line. It served the township of Harcourt and was closed to passenger traffic on 4 October 1981, as part of the New Deal timetable for country passengers.A 10-ton crane at the station was abolished in 1973.The station building on the former down platform housed the studios of Goldfields Community Access Radio (3CCC) from 1982 to 2006.

Mount Alexander is a mountain located approximately 125 km north-west of Melbourne, near the town of Harcourt. It rises 350 metres above the surrounding area to a level of 744 metres above sea level. Being a prominent local landmark, the mountain has its name associated with the surrounding district once known as the Mount Alexander goldfields, and presently defined as the Shire of Mount Alexander, centred on Castlemaine. Most of the mountain is included within the boundaries of the Mount Alexander Regional Park managed by Parks Victoria. The Djadjawurrung name for the mountain is Lanjanuc.

Harcourt is a small town in the Central Highlands of the state of Victoria, Australia. It is about 8 kilometres (5 miles) north-east of Castlemaine, where the Midland Highway meets the Calder Highway. At the 2021 census, Harcourt had a population of 1,038. The town was named after Sir William Harcourt.

Buda is a heritage-listed historic house and garden located in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia. It was added to the Victorian Heritage Database on 15 October 1970, when it was purchased by the Trustees of the Castlemaine Art Gallery and Historic Museum (CAGHM) which oversees its management. Since 1981 the house (museum) and garden are open to the public Monday to Sunday 12pm to 4pm, except Good Friday and Christmas Day.

3BPH is a radio station based in Bendigo, Victoria. It is part of the Vision Australia Radio network, a reading and information service for those persons unable to read or easily access information in print. The station is run and operated by volunteers.When not broadcasting local programs, the station is a relay of 3RPH in Melbourne.

Castlemaine Post Office is a heritage-listed post office at 202 Barker Street, Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia. It was added to the Australian Commonwealth Heritage List on 8 November 2011.

Castlemaine ( KASS-əl-mayn, non-locally also KAHSS-) is a town in west central Victoria, Australia, in the Goldfields region about 120 kilometres (75 miles) northwest by road from Melbourne and about 40 kilometres (25 miles) from the major provincial centre of Bendigo. It is the administrative and economic centre of the Shire of Mount Alexander. The population at the 2021 Census was 7,506. Castlemaine was named by the chief goldfield commissioner, Captain W. Wright, in honour of his Irish uncle, Viscount Castlemaine. Built on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung, Castlemaine began as a gold rush boomtown in 1851 and developed into a major regional centre, being officially proclaimed a City on 4 December 1965, although since declining in population.It is home to many cultural institutions including the Theatre Royal, the oldest continuously operating theatre in mainland Australia.
