Carlton Gardens Primary School

St George's School, Carlton was a Catholic Church school located in Carlton, a suburb of Melbourne and was part of a parish complex which included a church, a hall and a school for boys and one for girls each using the same or similar school name. The school and church opened around May 1856 and operated from a bluestone building which served as both church and school. It was considered a fine example of one of the earliest parish schools established in Melbourne.

Corpus Christi College is the regional seminary (and theologate) of the Roman Catholic dioceses in Victoria and Tasmania, Australia. The seminary is administered by a board of episcopal trustees comprising the archbishops of Melbourne and Hobart, the bishops of Ballarat, Sandhurst and Sale, and the auxiliary bishops of Melbourne. The Archbishop of Melbourne is the permanent chair of the trustees.

The Victorian Health Promotion Foundation is a statutory authority in the Australian state of Victoria, originally funded by hypothecated taxation raised by the Victorian Tobacco Act 1987. The H. L. White Collection is a collection of Australian birds’ eggs originally accumulated by wealthy pastoralist, amateur ornithologist and oologist Henry Luke White (1860-1927). On White's death it passed to the National Museum of Victoria in Melbourne. The eggs of most of Australia's native bird species, including the extinct paradise parrot, are represented in the collection, which comprises some 4200 clutches totalling 13,000 eggs. It is housed in the original custom-built Queensland maple cabinets commissioned by White.

The Melbourne Museum is a natural and cultural history museum located in the Carlton Gardens in Melbourne, Australia. Located adjacent to the Royal Exhibition Building, the museum was opened in 2000 as a project of the Government of Victoria, on behalf of Museums Victoria which administers the venue. The museum won Best Tourist Attraction at the Australian Tourism Awards in 2011.In addition to its galleries, the museum features spaces such as Curious?, which is a place to meet staff and find answers relating to the collections, research and behind-the-scenes work of Museums Victoria; as well as a cafe and a gift shop. The back-of-house area houses some of the Victoria's State Collections, which holds over 17 million items, including objects relating to Indigenous Australian and Pacific Islander cultures, geology, historical studies, palaeontology, technology and society, and zoology, as well as a library collection that holds 18th and 19th century scientific monographs and serials. The world's largest IMAX theatre screen, which is also part of the museum complex, shows movies and documentary films in large-screen 3-D format.

Little Italy in Victoria, Australia (sometimes referred to as the "Italian Precinct" or simply "Lygon Street"), is a "Little Italy" cultural precinct of the Italian community of Melbourne. It is situated along Lygon Street in the inner-Melbourne suburb of Carlton.According to the 2006 Australian census, Victoria has the largest Italian-Australian population in Australia (around 200,000 statewide), with much of its inner-Melbourne population recorded in the suburbs of Carlton and nearby Brunswick.Lygon Street is home to a large concentration of Italian restaurants, and is the birthplace of Melbourne's "cafe culture".Melbourne was also appointed as a sister city to Milan, Italy in 2004.

La Mama Theatre is a not-for-profit theatre in Carlton, Victoria. It has been nationally and internationally acknowledged as a crucible for cutting edge, contemporary theatre since 1967. La Mama produces work by theatre makers of all backgrounds and encouraging works that deconstruct and critique form, content and social issues. The iconic venue was devastated by fire in the early hours of Saturday 19 May 2018, due to an electrical fault. It reopened to the public on 9 December 2021.

The first Australian Exhibition of Women's Work was held for five weeks in 1907 in Melbourne. It featured the decorative arts and those associated with women. Contributors included Susanne Vilhelmine Gether and The Society of Arts and Crafts of NSW, solo violinist Gertrude Healy, painter and potter Flora Annie Landells, designer Eirene Mort, Tasmanian wood carver Ellen Nora Payne, composer and conductor Georgette Augusta Christina Peterson, kindergarten expert Emmeline Pye, and painter and interior designer Daisy Rossi. The exhibition opened on 23 October and closed on 30 November at the Royal Exhibition Building.
