Boston Common and Public Garden

A statue of author, historian, and minister Edward Everett Hale by Bela Pratt is installed in Boston's Public Garden, in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. The bronze sculpture was dedicated on March 3, 1913. It was surveyed as part of the Smithsonian Institution's "Save Outdoor Sculpture!" program in 1993.

Boston Public Garden Flagpole Base is a 1921 flagpole base, memorial, and sculpture by William D. Austen, installed in Boston Public Garden, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The bronze base measures approximately 6 x 4 x 4 ft., and rests on a granite plinth that measures 3.5 x 7 x 7 ft. It has four facades with reliefs depicting American eagles holding branches and spreading their wings, and serves as a World War I memorial. The base replaced another destroyed by lightning in 1920. It was originally installed at the site of the original base, at the intersection of Boylston Street and Arlington Street, but was relocated to its present location in 1933. The work was surveyed by the Smithsonian Institution's "Save Outdoor Sculpture!" program in 1993.

Triton Babies Fountain is a fountain and sculpture by Anna Coleman Ladd, installed in Boston's Public Garden, in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. It features a bronze sculpture, cast in 1922, that depicts a boy and girl and measures approximately 2 ft. 3 in. x 19 in. x 39 in. The statue rests on a granite base measuring approximately 2 ft. 6 in. x 18 in. x 31 in. The work was surveyed as part of the Smithsonian Institution's "Save Outdoor Sculpture!" program in 1993.

The Swan Boats are a fleet of pontoon pleasure boats which operate in a pond in the Public Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The Swan Boats have been in operation since 1877, and have since become a cultural icon for the city. They operate beginning the second weekend of April and ending the third weekend in September.

The Boston Public Garden Foot Bridge is a pedestrian bridge crossing the lagoon in Boston Public Garden, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Built in 1867, it was the world's shortest functioning suspension bridge before its conversion to a girder bridge in 1921.A plaque reads, "Public Garden / Foot Bridge / Opened June 1, 1867 / Designers / Clemens Herschel, Civil Engineer / 1842 - 1930 / William G. Preston, Architect / 1842 - 1910 / Tablet Placed June 1, 1936 / Boston Society of Civil Engineers".

The Public Garden, also known as Boston Public Garden, is a large park in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts, adjacent to Boston Common. It is a part of the Emerald Necklace system of parks, and is bounded by Charles Street and Boston Common to the east, Beacon Street and Beacon Hill to the north, Arlington Street and Back Bay to the west, and Boylston Street to the south. The Public Garden was the first public botanical garden in America.

Make Way for Ducklings is a sculpture by Nancy Schön, which recreates the duck family in Robert McCloskey's children's classic Make Way for Ducklings. The original set of bronze statues was installed in Boston Public Garden in 1987, and a copy was installed in Moscow at Novodevichy Park in 1991.

Japanese Lantern is a 1587 lantern sculpture, installed in Boston Public Garden, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The lantern was given to the city by Bunkio Matsuki in 1904.

The Parkman Bandstand is a landmark bandstand located on the eastern side of the Boston Common in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It was built in 1912 from a design by Derby, Robinson & Shephard at a cost of $1 million on the site of the Cow Pond (also known as the Horse Pond), which had been filled in 1838 after cattle-grazing had been outlawed on the Common. Named for George F. Parkman, the bandstand was constructed following his death in 1908, in honor of a $5 million donation he had willed for the care of the Boston Common and other city parks. Parkman was the son of George Parkman, a doctor who had donated land for Harvard Medical School's first campus. The site quickly became noted for the autumnal colonial-themed puppet shows that occurred there starting in 1922. Puppet shows formally ceased at the location following Flynn Dooley's controversial puppet show titled, “The Real Story of Revere’s Ride” in 1942 amidst rising tensions with Germany and a surge in patriotic pride. In 1996, the bandstand was restored and is used today for concerts, rallies, and speeches. Recent notable gatherings include the Boston Freedom Rally and a 2007 Presidential Primary rally in which both Barack Obama and Deval Patrick gave speeches from the bandstand.
