The school started as Thomas Sumpter School, before amalgamating with South Leys Business & Enterprise College in September 2007 to form Melior Community College. In 2011 the school was rebuilt as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme. The school was called Melior Community College until January 2013. The school converted to academy status in January 2013 and was renamed Melior Community Academy.

It is operated by Outwood Grange Academies Trust, and the current principal is Mr. Darren Smith.

The building served as the headquarters of Scunthorpe Municipal Borough Council and later of North Lincolnshire Council, but is now used as a university campus. It is a Grade II listed building.

The Pods is a leisure centre in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, England. The leisure centre offers a wide range of modern facilities, including two swimming pools, a gym, a café and a Sports Hall. The leisure centre is located in the town's Central Park near Ashby Road.The Pods is reported to be built the highest environmental standards and is aiming for a ‘excellent' BREAAM environmental rating. It has grey water recycling, a bio-mass boiler, and the roof is partly covered with the sedum plants. Hexagonal panels and panes of glass have been used to create the building's dome shaped roofs, which is of a similar style to Cornwall's Eden Project. North Lincolnshire have provided a large pond and car park built next to the leisure centre. The park and children's play areas around The Pods have also been refurbished in a two million pound restoration, completed in January 2011. Around it there is a park and tennis courts.

Bottesford Preceptory was sited at Bottesford, just to the south of Scunthorpe, in Lindsey, England. It was on low-lying land, near the Bottesford Beck, about 3 miles (5 km) to the west of the escarpment of the Lincoln Cliff limestone upland, and about the same distance to the east of the River Trent. A preceptory was a community of the Knights Templar who lived on one of that order's estates in the charge of its preceptor. A preceptory also referred to the estate and its buildings. The present Bottesford Manor is believed to have been the gatehouse to the preceptory. Templars Bath, a spring in the field behind Bottesford Manor, is now hardly discernible, being simply a gathering of stones. The bath has been attributed to the Romans but others believe it was a dipping bath or well used by the Templar workers. It was once used as a "magic" health-giving spring. Travellers would drink its waters and leave cloth offerings (a "rag well"). This healing property was probably associated with its position near a Templar hospital. The only distinctive Templar artefact found here was an ancient gravestone with a large cross upon it. It was covering a body buried in a grave that had been placed at the angle formed by the north wall of the chancel and the east wall of the north transept, though this description is inconsistent with a normal Templar round church. Archaeologists excavated the Templar fields nearby in 1983, but little was found and the land was back-filled.

Scunthorpe and Appleby Frodingham Works Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1925 when Lincolnshire first played at the ground in the Minor Counties Championship against the Nottinghamshire Second XI. From 1925, the ground hosted 49 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which came against Staffordshire. In addition, the ground has also hosted a single MCCA Knockout Trophy match, which came in 1987 when Lincolnshire played Durham.The ground also held a single List-A match in 1975, when Minor Counties North played Yorkshire in the Benson and Hedges Cup.In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home of Appleby Frodingham Cricket Club who play in the Yorkshire ECB County Premier League. The cricket club is part of a larger body called the Appleby-Frodingham Works Athletic Club, which is associated with Corus Group and was originally created by Appleby-Frodingham Steel Company.
