Central City, Phoenix

Santa Rita Center, or Santa Rita Hall, is an unoccupied church hall at 10th Street and Hadley Roads, which was placed on the Phoenix Historic Property Register in October 2007, which has the same eligibility criteria as the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of three church halls stemming from the three chapels of the Historic Sacred Heart Church. It was purchased by the Chicanos Por La Causa, non-profit organisation, in 2004 for $71,000.

Sacred Heart Church, or Historic Sacred Heart Church, is an unoccupied church located at or around 16th St and Buckeye Roads in Phoenix, AZ, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the US Department of Interior with the efforts of the Braun Sacred Heart Center Inc., City of Phoenix Historic Preservation Office, and the State Historic Preservation Office in 2012. The lot the Sacred Heart Church sits on is owned by the City of Phoenix, Aviation Department. Sacred Heart Church was the pillar of the Golden Gate Barrio, and the Braun Sacred Heart Center Inc. has been hosting a yearly Christmas Day Mass at noon for former residents since 1987, with the permission of the City of Phoenix. On May 19, 2021, the Diocese of Phoenix published a press release announcing that the Sacred Heart Parish had signed a lease agreement with the City of Phoenix for use of the Church property after selling the property to the City of Phoenix over three decades prior.

Carver High School (Full name George Washington Carver High School, formerly known as Phoenix Union Colored High School) was a high school in Phoenix, Arizona, established for the benefit of African-American ("colored" under the terminology of the day). The school's building was the only one ever built exclusively to serve African American high school students in Arizona.

Chase Field, formerly Bank One Ballpark, is a retractable roof stadium in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. It is the home of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks. It opened in 1998, the year the Diamondbacks debuted as an expansion team. Chase Field was the first stadium built in the United States with a retractable roof over a natural-grass playing surface.

The Calderon Ballroom was a music venue at 1610 E. Buckeye Road in Phoenix, Arizona. It was one of the most popular dance halls in the state in the 1950s and 1960s, hosting the region's top Mexican and Latin bands. During its heyday, some of the top R&B acts performed at the Calderon Ballroom. It was a stop on the "Chitlin' Circuit," a selection of venues considered safe and acceptable for African-American entertainers in the era of racial segregation in the United States.

The Swindall Tourist Inn is the last known surviving African American boarding house in Phoenix, Arizona used during the Jim Crow era. The building itself was built in 1913 and was sold in 1940. Until its selling, it was used as a boarding house, predominantly for African American lodgers. The building has since been converted to office use.

12th Street/Jefferson station and 12th Street/Washington station, also collectively known as Eastlake Park, is a pair of light rail stations on Valley Metro Rail in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. It is the fourteenth stop westbound and the fifteenth stop eastbound on the initial 20-mile (32 km) starter line. This station is split between two platforms, the westbound platform which is located on Washington Street at 12th Street and the eastbound platform located on Jefferson Street at 12th Street, approximately 500 feet (150 m) apart from one another.

The Sun Mercantile Building (or "Sun Merc") is a warehouse building in Phoenix, Arizona designed by E.W. Bacon and constructed by Wells & Son in 1929. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 and has been a locally protected historic landmark since 1987.

The F. S. Baird Machine Shop, located at 632 East Adams Street between North 6th and North 7th Streets in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, is part of Heritage Square, a collection of historic buildings dating from the city's earliest days. It was built in 1928 by Kathryn Baird, who opened a machine shop there with her son Arthur in 1929. After Arthur left the business in 1931, George W. Wilson operated a machine shop business in the building until 1933, followed by various other owners until 1941. Between 1947 and 1964, a variety of industrial shops occupied the space. In 1978, the city of Phoenix purchased the vacant building to add it to Heritage Square, which is anchored by the nearby Rosson House. It is currently the site of a pizza restaurant.The one-bay building has a pitched truss roof with stepped parapet eaves, segmented arch double-hung wood windows and a double-hung entrance in the center. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Arizona Science Center, at 600 East Washington Street in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, is a science museum located in Heritage and Science Park. It was founded in 1984 as the Arizona Museum of Science & Technology in a downtown storefront, Its current building, designed by Antoine Predock, was completed in 1997. Along with daily demonstrations throughout the Center, the Center provides shows in the Dorrance Planetarium and in a five-story, giant screen IMAX Theater.

Pizzeria Bianco is a pizza restaurant in downtown Phoenix, Arizona established in 1987 by Chris Bianco, and has earned very positive reviews by notable food critics. Nationally recognized for its pizzas, the restaurant's small seating capacity can lead to wait times that sometimes surprise casual patrons. The restaurant features a wood-fired oven and homemade mozzarella cheese used in pizzas primarily fashioned by the owner himself. In 2013, the restaurant established a second location in the Biltmore Area of Phoenix. In 2022, the restaurant opened a third location, in Los Angeles.

Golden Gate Barrio was a historic Mexican-American neighborhood in the Eastside of Phoenix, Arizona. The neighborhood was razed due to eminent domain for the expansion of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in the 1970s and 1990s through the West Approach Land Acquisition Project.In 1953 Father Albert Braun helped found Sacred Heart Church in neighborhood. Sacred Heart Church is the only remaining structure in the neighborhood located at 920 S. 17th Street in Phoenix. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 20, 2012. Since 1986, its doors open once per year for Christmas Mass to the former neighborhood residents.
