Oyster Harbour is a permanently open estuary, north of King George Sound, which covers an area of 15.6 square kilometres (6 sq mi) near Albany, Western Australia. The harbour is used to shelter a fishing fleet carrying out commercial fishing and the farming of oysters and mussels via a dredged channel around Emu Point to the Emu Point Boat Pens. A significant number of waterbirds use the harbour for feeding. The place is currently a family tourist center. Oyster Harbour is fed by the King and Kalgan Rivers and discharges into King George Sound. A planned locality of Oyster Harbour on the Lower King Road is under construction with 2,300 home sites.At the north eastern end near the mouth of the Kalgan River mouth are the Albany Fish Traps, a site of great significance to the local Mineng peoples, constructed over 7,500 years ago.

Lady Lyttleton was a barque that sunk in the Emu Point Channel in Oyster Harbour near Albany in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. The ship was built as Sultan, with a female figurehead and a single deck. It was registered in Sydney in 1861 by the owners Alex Young and John Howard.In 1866 the vessel was sold to Harold Selwyn Smith in Melbourne and registered at the port there.On the ship's final voyage, in the command of John McArthur, it departed Adelaide on 29 May 1867 with three passengers and a cargo of 18 tons of bran, 10 tons of pollard, 443 tons of barley and other goods. It entered King George Sound on 16 June and was leaking badly. The crew had already jettisoned part of the cargo with the rest being unloaded in Albany before it sailed to Emu Point for repairs. Lady Lyttleton was hove down to the shore by tackles from the masthead but the ship slipped and then foundered and sank on 17 July 1867. It was later abandoned. The wreck was rediscovered by divers in 1971. The Western Australian Museum surveyed and partially excavated the site in 1978 and in 1990 with several artefacts being retrieved.

Bayonet Head is an outer north-eastern suburb of Albany, Western Australia, on the west bank of Oyster Harbour. Its local government area is the City of Albany. Until the 1980s, it was known as Flinders Park.

Collingwood Heights is a north-eastern suburb of Albany, Western Australia, between the Albany city centre and Emu Point within the local government area of the City of Albany. It was gazetted in 1981, prior to which it was known as Collingwood.

Australian Christian College – Southlands is a co-educational school, located in Albany, Western Australia. The school has grades ranging from Kindergarten to Year 12. As of 2013, Year 12 students will be able to complete their WACE at the school.

Collingwood Park is a north-eastern suburb of Albany, Western Australia, just west of the Emu Point holiday resort along King George Sound on the west bank of Oyster Harbour. Its local government area is the City of Albany. It was gazetted in 1979.

Lower King is a town in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. It is located 385 km (239 mi) south-east of Perth; the closest populated town is Albany. Located along the lower reaches of the King River on the western shore of Oyster Harbour, both the town and the river were named after Captain Philip Parker King, who first visited the area in 1818 aboard Mermaid. The area around Lower King was a known haunt for sealers in 1831; it was settled in the 1830s with the townsite not being gazetted until 1959.It had a population of 1604 in 2006, which increased to 1738 in 2011.

Collingwood Park is a stadium located in the suburb Collingwood Park in the city of Albany, Western Australia. Collingwood Park is Albany's largest sport and recreational ground, and has hosted such events as the 2007 Crusty Demons West Coast Carnage Tour and the 2008 the AFL NAB Cup match between the West Coast Eagles and Collingwood Magpies.

The North Albany Football and Sporting Club, more often referred to as North Albany, is an Australian rules football club located in Albany, Western Australia. Nicknamed the Kangas, the club play in the Great Southern Football League, with home games being hosted at Collingwood Park. Since being formed in 1897, netball and association football teams have played under banners of North Albany or Kangas.

King George Sound (Nyungar: Menang Koort) is a sound on the south coast of Western Australia. Named King George the Third's Sound in 1791, it was referred to as King George's Sound from 1805. The name "King George Sound" gradually came into use from about 1934, prompted by new Admiralty charts supporting the intention to eliminate the possessive 's' from geographical names.The sound covers an area of 110 square kilometres (42 sq mi) and varies in depth from 10 to 35 metres (33 to 115 ft). Situated at its western shore is the city of Albany. The sound is bordered by the mainland to the north, by Vancouver Peninsula on the west, and by Bald Head and Flinders Peninsula to the south. Although the sound is open water to the east, the waters are partially protected by Breaksea Island and Michaelmas Island. There are two harbours located within the sound, Princess Royal Harbour to the west and Oyster Harbour to the north. Each receives excellent protection from winds and heavy seas. Princess Royal Harbour was Western Australia's only deep-water port for around 70 years until the Fremantle Inner Harbour was opened in 1897.
