Lake Geneva

The Delta de la Dranse National Nature Reserve is a nature reserve located in the delta of the Dranse river. The reserve is located to the east of the commune of Thonon-les-Bains in southeastern France. At 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) long by 500 metres (1,600 ft) wide, it covers a small area of 53 hectares (130 acres) at an elevation ranging from 372 to 380 metres (1,220 to 1,247 ft). Offering a rich botanic biodiversity, the site was declared a national nature reserve in January 1980 and declared a special "zone of protection" since September 1986. The beach of the last river delta along Lake Geneva is constituted of alluvium, sand, stones, and pebbles. The sandy beaches and small islands are constantly being formed by the path of the rising torrential river, which has resulted in the expansion of a rich diversity of flora and wildlife. The reserve shelters: Close to 750 plant species including orchids; More than 200 species of birds, notably the red-crested pochard, the little ringed plover – the reserve is the only nesting site for the common tern in the larger Rhone basin, additionally it is the southernmost point where the common gull nests; Numerous reptiles and amphibian species are equally represented; European beavers are well established along the banks.

The Dranse (French: la Dranse) is a French river in the department of Haute-Savoie, that empties into Lake Geneva between Thonon-les-Bains and Évian-les-Bains. The name "Dranse" comes from the former Drantia, based on the hydronym dur-, dora and the suffix -antia.

The 2017 Evian Championship was played 14–17 September at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France. It was the 24th Evian Championship (the first 19 played as the Evian Masters), and the fifth as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. The event was televised by Golf Channel and NBC Sports in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom. Anna Nordqvist beat Brittany Altomare at the first hole of a sudden-death playoff, after the pair had tied on 204. The event was reduced to 54 holes after the first day's play was abandoned because of bad weather.

The 2013 Evian Championship was played 12–15 September at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France. It was the 20th Evian Championship (the first 19 played as the Evian Masters), and the first as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. The inaugural event was televised by Golf Channel and NBC Sports in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom. Heavy rain before and during the first day of the tournament forced Thursday's played to be suspended and the scores abandoned. The initial plan was to play the first and second rounds on Friday and Saturday and play the final 36 holes on Sunday. The prediction of more heavy rain on Sunday and several following days forced tournament officials to shorten the event to 54 holes.Suzann Pettersen won by two strokes over amateur Lydia Ko.

It was the 22nd Evian Championship (the first 19 played as the Evian Masters), and the third as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. The event was televised by Golf Channel and NBC Sports in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom. Lydia Ko won her first major championship, becoming the youngest major winner, at age 18, and shooting the lowest final round, 63, to win a major.

The 2018 Evian Championship was played 13–16 September at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France. It was the 25th Evian Championship (the first 20 played as the Evian Masters), and the sixth as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. The event was televised by Golf Channel and NBC Sports in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom. At the age of 40, Angela Stanford won her first major championship on her 76th appearance in a major. Four players tied for second place, a stroke behind, including Amy Olson who came to the last hole needing a par to win but made a double bogey.

The Evian Championship, currently known for sponsorship reasons as The Amundi Evian Championship, is a women's professional golf tournament in France, played at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains. It was originally held in June, moved to July in 2003, and moved again to September in 2013. It returned to a July date in 2019. Founded 30 years ago in 1994 on the Ladies European Tour (LET) as the Evian Masters, it is one of two major championships on the LET. Not originally a major on the LPGA Tour, it became an LPGA co-sanctioned event in 2000, which included a significant increase in purse size. The purse was increased from $4.1 million to $4.5 million effective with the 2021 event. The 2022 event saw an increase in the purse to $6.5 million, with the winner earning $1 million.Originally a mid-June event, it was played in late July from 2003 to 2012, then moved to mid-September in 2013 when it became the final major for both tours. The average elevation of the course is approximately 480 metres (1,575 ft) above sea level and overlooks nearby Lake Geneva to the north. In July 2011 it was announced that beginning in 2013, the Evian Masters would be renamed "The Evian Championship" and would become the fifth major on the LPGA Tour schedule and move to September.After the 2017 Evian Championship was reduced to 54 holes, LPGA commissioner Mike Whan admitted it was a mistake to move the major to a September date and vowed to move it back to summer by 2019. Furthermore, major changes in 2019 for the majors in men's golf, which will now be held in consecutive months – April, May, June, July – means the Evian can be held in August and be the final major in professional golf, men's or women's. Ultimately, the new date for the Evian was set as the last full weekend in July, the week after The Open Championship (men's).In February 2021, the tournament organizers and French asset management firm Amundi jointly announced that the firm had become the tournament's title sponsor effective with the 2021 event to run for five years.

The event was televised by Golf Channel in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom. Brooke Henderson won with a score of 267, 17-under-par, a stroke ahead of Sophia Schubert.

The 2014 Evian Championship was played 11–14 September at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France. It was the 21st Evian Championship (the first 19 played as the Evian Masters), and the second as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. The event was televised by Golf Channel and NBC Sports in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom. Kim Hyo-joo, age 19, shot an opening round 61 (−10) and held on to total 273 (−11), one stroke ahead of runner-up Karrie Webb. Trailing by a stroke at the final tee, Kim sank a 12-foot (3.7 m) putt for birdie while Webb failed to par from the same distance to force a playoff. It was Kim's first win on the LPGA Tour and she became the third-youngest in history to win a women's major title.

The 2016 Evian Championship was played 15–18 September at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France. It was the 23rd Evian Championship (the first nineteen were played as the Evian Masters), and the fifth as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. Chun In-gee won her first Evian and second major championship, four strokes ahead of runners-up Ryu So-yeon and Park Sung-hyun. Her 21-under-par score was a record for all women's majors.The event was televised by Golf Channel and NBC Sports in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom.

The 2021 Amundi Evian Championship was played 22–25 July at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France. It was the 27th Evian Championship (the first 20 played as the Evian Masters), and the eighth as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. Minjee Lee won her first major at the first hole of a sudden-death playoff over Lee Jeong-eun.
