Falls Lake

The James Mangum House is a historic home located near Creedmoor, Wake County, North Carolina. Built in 1838, it is an example of Federal architecture. In November 1974, the James Mangum House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.The house stands on the eastern shore of Beaverdam Lake in northwestern Wake County, North Carolina. In the 1970s, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) acquired the house and land for inclusion in the Beaverdam Recreation Area of the Falls Lake State Recreation Area. The house went through extensive rehabilitation as well as an archeological survey of the immediate grounds by the USACE. In 1992, the NC Division of Parks and Recreation took control of the house as part of Beaverdam Recreation Area.

Falls Lake State Recreation Area is a North Carolina state park in Durham and Wake counties, North Carolina in the United States. Near Wake Forest, North Carolina, it covers 5,035 acres (20.38 km2) along the shores of 12,410-acre (50.2 km2) Falls Lake.

The Museum of American Pottery is located in Cedar Creek Gallery in Creedmoor, North Carolina, in a climate controlled room. The museum came into existence after an exhibit called "Old Pots" premièred at Cedar Creek Gallery in the early 1970s. The collection has since grown to over 400 pieces. The museum celebrates the American potter and "the humble pieces of pottery which continue to inspire and enrich our lives today." The Museum of American Pottery seeks to honor family and studio potters who, through their work, have made a significant contribution to the arts; to establish a permanent collection, open to the public, of historic and contemporary pottery by family and studio potters; to establish a library of books, magazines, articles, videos, and photos of pottery and potters from 1700 to the present; to provide funds for research and opportunities for pottery students to further their studies; and to make sure that examples of work by these potters are preserved for future generations.

Rock Cliff Farm, also known as the B.W. Wells Farm, is a historic farm and national historic district located near Wake Forest, Wake County, North Carolina. The property is owned by the Federal government, and part of a large acreage managed by the State of North Carolina as the Falls Lake State Recreation Area. Contributing resources include the Grounds of Rock Cliff Farm, Ray-Wells House (c. 1895, c. 1954), meathouse (c. 1885-1890), Lowery-Ray Cemetery (1901), studio (1954, c. 1955-1960), lumber storage rack (c. 1954-1955), Ray House (c. 1900-1920), and Ray House Outbuilding (c. 1900-1920). Rock Cliff Farm was the retirement residence of Dr. Bertram Whittier Wells (1884-1978), a noted American botanist and ecologist active.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Carr Township is one of six townships in Durham County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 2,441 according to the 2010 census.Geographically, Carr Township occupies 27.25 square miles (70.6 km2) in eastern Durham County. The township is occupied by small portions of the city of Falls Lake. The township was formerly part of Cedar Fork Township in Wake County but was created in a 1911 transfer to Durham County along with parts of Oak Grove Township.

The Doc Nichols House is an early 20th-century Colonial Revival mansion in eastern Durham, North Carolina off of North Carolina Highway 98.

Ellerbe Creek is a tributary of the Neuse River in North Carolina, USA. It is part of the Neuse River Basin, and flows for more than twenty miles through North Durham. The Ellerbe's watershed begins near Orange County north of Interstate 85, near the WDNC radio tower and Bennett Place. The creek flows through many of Durham's most historic and culturally significant areas, including Ninth Street, Downtown Durham, beneath Durham Athletic Park, The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, the Museum of Life and Science, the old Durham Landfill, Duke University East Campus, Trinity Park, Walltown, Northgate Mall, and towards the end crosses Fishdam Road. The Ellerbe eventually flows into Falls Lake, about a mile south of the Eno River. It has been cited as the most polluted creek in The Triangle region of North Carolina. A watershed improvement plan was prepared by the Brown and Caldweld firm for the City of Durham in 2010.Some say Ellerbe is a name derived from a Native American language, while others believe the creek is named after John Ellerby, an early settler.

Gorman is a census-designated place (CDP) in Durham County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,011 at the 2010 census.

Bartons Creek Township (also designated Township 2) is one of twenty townships within Wake County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, Bartons Creek Township had a population of 22,055.The township occupies 38.0 square miles (98.3 km2) in the northwestern corner of Wake County, including portions of the city of Raleigh.The township is bounded by the border with Durham County, Old Creedmoor Rd, Baileywick Rd, Creedmoor Rd, Strickland Rd, Falls of Neuse Rd, the Neuse River, and Falls Lake. The community of Falls is located partially within the township. Notable features include the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, Falls Lake State Recreation Area, and Blue Jay Point County Park. The entire township is within the Falls Lake watershed. I-540 goes through the southern portion of the township.

Leesville Township (also designated Township 8) is one of twenty townships within Wake County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, Leesville Township had a population of 41,850, a 39.5% increase over 2000. Leesville Township, occupying 21.4 square miles (55.4 km2) in northwestern Wake County, includes portions of the city of Raleigh. It is approximately bounded by the Durham County line, Glenwood Ave (US 70), Millbrook Rd (SR 1822), Leesville Rd (SR 1839), Ray Rd (SR 1826), Howard Rd (SR 1828), Creedmoor Rd (NC 50), and Old Creedmoor Rd (SR 1831)

Bayleaf is an unincorporated community in Bartons Creek Township, Wake County, North Carolina, United States. It has an elevation of 427 ft. The center of the community lies at the intersection of Six Forks Rd (SR 1005), Norwood Rd (SR 1834), Possum Track Rd (SR 2002), Bayleaf Church Rd (SR 2003), and Honeycutt Rd (SR 2005). The community is home to a fire station, Bay Leaf Baptist Church, and St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church.

First National Bank Building is a historic bank building located at Creedmoor, Granville County, North Carolina. It was built in 1912, and is a two-story, Beaux Arts style brick building. It features raised bands of brick cross the entire first floor front elevation, exploded in sunbursts over the three round-arched openings, and an ornate metal cornice. It housed a bank until 1977.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
