Staverns Fortress

Fredriksvern (also called Friderichsværn (1801), Frederiksværn (1865), Fredriksværen (1900) and abbreviated Frsværn) was an important Norwegian naval base, just south of Larvik in Vestfold. It is named after Fredrik V Denmark-Norway. The town of Stavern has in many ways come to be because of this naval base.

Minnehallen or Hall of Remembrance is a national memorial located outside Stavern in Larvik, Vestfold, Norway. The memorial was commissioned by the Norwegian Parliament after World War I to commemorate the fallen Norwegian sailors of the war. It was unveiled by King Haakon VII and was later converted to the national monument commemorating fallen sailors of both World War I and World War II. The monument itself is a pyramid of locally quarried rock and is designed by two architects from Oslo, Andreas Hesselberg Bjercke (1883–1967) and Georg Christen Eliassen (1880–1964).Nic Schiøll has made a relief describing the lives and fate of the sailors as well as a decoration in the crypt. Copper tablets display the names of 1,892 sailors who died during World War I and 3,456 names of sailors who died in World War II. In addition, three protocols contain the names of 5,667 sailors. The interior of the hall is visited by some 20,000 people every year.Herman Wildenvey wrote Minnehallen, a poem displayed on the rock altar in the hall. Fredriksvern Church (Norwegian: Fredriksvern kirke or historically Stavern Church) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Larvik Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located in the town of Stavern. It is the church for the Stavern parish which is part of the Larvik prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg. The red brick church was built in a cruciform design in 1756 using plans drawn up by the architect Michael Johan Herbst. The church seats about 350 people.

Stavern is a small water-side town in Larvik municipality in Vestfold County, Norway. It is south of the city of Larvik. Currently there are around 3,000 inhabitants in Stavern. It is a small town where tourism is one of the most important sources of income. During summer, the population increases to around 30,000-40,000 people, due to camping sites and cottages around the town centre as well as boats visiting the harbour.Stavern experiences 200 days of sunshine per year. Consequentially, Stavern's population more than doubles during summers. From the mid 1750s until 1864, Stavern was home to the nation's main naval base located in a shipyard in Fredriksvern. A gunpowder tower and commandant's house remain on Citadel Island, a current refuge for artists. The town is also home of Hall of Remembrance, a monument dedicated to seamen killed during World Wars I and II.

Hergisheim is a house in Stavern, Norway. It is classified as an artist's home because the novelist Gisken Wildenvey (1895–1985) and her husband the poet Herman Wildenvey (1885–1959) lived in the house from 1927 onward.The Wildenveys came to Stavern in 1923 in search of a country house. The apartment where they had lived in Copenhagen from 1913 to 1920 had burned down, and the insurance settlement served as initial capital for construction. They moved in for Christmas in 1927, having previously rented in Stavern. The house is described in Gisken Wildenvey's memoirs Kjærlighet varer lengst (Love Lasts Longest, 1975) and in Tom Lotherington's biography of Herman Wildenvey, Wildenvey – et dikterliv (Wildenvey: A Poet's Life, 1993). The Herman Wildenvey Poetry Award is awarded annually at Hergisheim.The name Hergisheim was created by combining the first syllables of the couple's names. The house is owned by the Wildenvey family.

Larviksfjorden is a fjord in the municipality of Larvik in Vestfold, Norway. The fjord has a length of about eight kilometers, and is about three kilometer wide at the mouth. The rivers Numedalslågen and Farriselva both discharge into the fjord. The towns Stavern and Larvik both border to the fjord. The two lighthouses Stavernsodden and Svenner are located near the mouth of the fjord.

Numedalslågen is a river located in the counties of Vestfold and Telemark and Viken in southeastern Norway. It is one of the longest rivers in Norway.

Østre Halsen Church (Norwegian: Østre Halsen kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Larvik Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located in the eastern Halsen area of the town of Larvik. It is the church for the Østre Halsen parish which is part of the Larvik prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg. The white and red concrete church was built in a rectangular design in 1983 using plans drawn up by the architect Roar Tollnes. The church seats about Roar Tollnespeople.

Norsk Soyamelfabrikk ('Norwegian Soy Flour Factory') was a soy flour manufacturing company in Larvik, Norway. It was the first soy flour plant in Norway. The factory was in operation between 1933 and 1977. It was locally nicknamed 'Soyaen' ("The Soy").

Larvik Church (Norwegian: Larvik kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Larvik Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located in the town of Larvik, right along the shore of the Larviksfjorden. It is one of the churches for the Larvik parish amd the seat of the Larvik prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg. The yellow, brick church was built in a long church design in 1677 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 450 people.

Fram Stadion is a football stadium in Larvik, Norway. It is used by IF Fram Larvik.

Tollerodden, spelt Tolderodden until 1917, is a peninsula located in the bottom of the Larvik fjord and a part of Larvik town located on the southeast coast of Norway. The Larvik fjord is open in the southeast, so Tollerodden was the safest place in Larvik harbour, and thus the town started at Tollerodden and the nearby surroundings. As Larvik grew, the commercial harbour was moved further out the fjord, and Tollerodden is preserved near to as it was in the town's early years. Tollerodden has become world known by the naval architect Colin Archer who was born here and had his boatyard here. He became world famous for his seaworthy pilot and rescue boats and the polar ship FRAM.
