Fort Point Light (Maine)

Fort Pownall was a British fortification built during the French and Indian War, whose remains are located at Fort Point State Park in Stockton Springs, Maine. The fort was named for Governor Thomas Pownall, who oversaw its construction. It never saw action, and was destroyed during the American Revolutionary War by the actions of both colonists and the British military to prevent its further use. The fort's remains were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

Fort Point State Park is a public recreation area that overlooks Penobscot Bay from the easternmost tip of Cape Jellison in the town of Stockton Springs, Maine. The state park's 156 acres (63 ha) feature the Fort Point Light and the site of historic Fort Pownall. The park offers hiking trails, picnicking, and fishing.

Its drainage basin contains 8,610 square miles (22,300 km2). It arises from four branches in several lakes in north-central Maine, which flow generally east. After the uniting of the West Branch with the East Branch at Medway (45°36′14″N 68°31′52″W), the Penobscot flows 109 miles (175 km) south, past the city of Bangor, where it becomes navigable. Also at Bangor is the tributary Kenduskeag Stream. It empties into the Atlantic Ocean in Penobscot Bay. It is home to the Penobscot people that live on Indian Island, and considered to be The People's lifeblood.

Sandy Point is an unincorporated village in the town of Stockton Springs, Waldo County, Maine, United States. The community is located along U.S. Route 1 on the west bank of the Penobscot River estuary, 4.1 miles (6.6 km) south of Bucksport. Sandy Point has a post office with ZIP code 04972, which opened on January 1, 1795.

Sears Island, known as Wassumkeag or shining beach by the indigenous Wabanaki tribes of northern New England, is located off the coast of Searsport in Waldo County, Maine, at the top of Penobscot Bay. The island is the largest undeveloped, uninhabited, causeway-accessible island on the eastern coast of the United States. It is 940 acres (3.8 km2) in area. It is part of the Town of Searsport.

Verona Island is a town located on an island of the same name in the Penobscot River in Hancock County, Maine, United States. The population was 507 at the 2020 census.

The Orland River is a 3.5-mile-long (5.6 km) river in the town of Orland in Hancock County, Maine. It is part of the Penobscot River watershed.

West Brooksville Congregational Church is an historic church in West Brooksville, Maine on the east side of Maine State Route 176, 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of the junction with Varnum Road. Built in 1855 for a congregation established in 1812, the present church building is a fine local example of Greek Revival architecture, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. The congregation is affiliated with the United Church of Christ; worship is held every Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. Sunday School begins at 9 a.m. Communion is served the first Sunday of every month.

Searsport Terminal is a port in Searsport, Maine. Searsport provides tanker offloading and temporary storage services for crude oil transportation. The terminal is also home to the beginning for the Searsport-Loring Pipeline.

The Penobscot Narrows Bridge is a 2,120-foot-long (650 m) cable-stayed bridge that carries US 1/SR 3 over the Penobscot River. It connects Verona Island to Prospect, in the U.S. state of Maine. It opened in December 2006, replacing the Waldo–Hancock Bridge, built in 1931.

The Marsh School is an historic school at 930 Bangor Road in Prospect, Maine. Built about 1880, it is the only surviving one-room schoolhouse in the rural community, and also served for a time as its town hall. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.
