Marronnier Park (Korean: 마로니에 공원) is a park in the Daehangno district of Seoul. The park was designated on April 29, 1982 and is 5,802 square metres (62,450 sq ft) large.

Korea National Open University (KNOU, Korean: 한국방송통신대학교) is a national university of South Korea. The school provides higher education including undergraduate, graduate and non-degree programs as well as distance-learning courses in Korean for more than 180,000 students. It was established in 1972 as a branch faculty of Seoul National University, with 2-year junior college courses. In 1982, KNOU was separated from SNU and established as a national university, launching programs for 4-year undergraduate degrees. As of 2009, the university has 46 offices and regional learning centres nationwide, and domestic cable television channel (OUN) for broadcasting lectures. It provides accredited bachelor's and master's degree for various fields, as well as non-degree qualifications such as diplomas and certificates, or life-long learning units. The school's main campus is located in Daehak-ro, Jongro-gu, Seoul. With more than 180,000 students enrolled, including 700 postgraduate students, KNOU is the first distance and lifelong educational institution of South Korea, and the largest educational institution in the country by enrollment. Since its foundation, more than 500,000 students have been enrolled, and 350,000 students graduated from the university.

Ihwa Mural Village (Korean: 이화 벽화마을), is an area of Ihwa-dong, Seoul near Naksan Park that was revitalized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's public art "Ihwa-dong Naksan Project" in 2006, with paintings and installation art of about 70 artists. It is a popular destination for both locals and international tourists for its murals and scenic setting.

Ihwajang (Korean: 이화장; Hanja: 梨花莊) is a historic home in Jongno District, Seoul, South Korea. It is the former residence of the first President of South Korea, Syngman Rhee. It was designated a historic site of South Korea on April 28, 2009. It is open to visitors as a memorial hall to Rhee.It consists of several buildings in a complex. A number of different people lived in this area, including Joseon scholar Shin Gwang-han in the 16th century and Grand Prince Inpyeong in the 17th century. It has consistently been considered a scenic area to live, with many visitors admiring the scenery.During much of the Japanese colonial period, Rhee lived in exile in the United States. After Korea was liberated in 1945, Rhee returned to the peninsula and took up residence here.

Hakrim Dabang (Korean: 학림다방; Hanja: 學林茶房; RR: Hangnim Dabang) is a historic dabang (cafe) on Daehangno in Jongno District, Seoul, South Korea. It opened in 1956, and is considered among the oldest active cafes in South Korea, and the oldest active one in Seoul. The dabang has been frequented by many prominent figures in South Korean culture and the arts. It has featured in South Korean cinema and Korean dramas such as My Love from the Star, and remains a popular spot for both local students and tourists. It was made a Seoul Future Heritage in 2013.

Hyehwa Station is a station on the Seoul Subway Line 4 in Jongno-gu, Seoul. It is located in the center of the area commonly known as Daehangno, and much of the ridership of this station comes from the nightlife scene. The Seoul National University Yongon campus, housing its Hospital and School of Medicine, is located to the southwest. The station was the center of the 2018-2019 Hyehwa Station protest to rally against discrimination of women and spy camera crimes.

Daehangno (Hangul:대학로 Hanja:大學路, lit. "college street") is a neighborhood in Seoul north of the Han River within Jongno-gu and Seodaemun-gu. Formerly known as Sunggyobang (Hangul:숭교방 Hanja:崇敎坊), meaning "high respect for teaching", its current name was designated when the 1.1 km six-lane road from Hyehwa-dong (혜화동) rotary to Ihwadong (이화동 梨花洞) crossroad was designated as a "street of culture" on May 5, 1985.

Naksan (Korean: 낙산; lit. Camel Mountain) is a mountain in Jongno District, Seoul, South Korea. It is 125 metres (410 ft) tall. It and Namsan are well known for their panoramic views of downtown Seoul. The mountain and its surrounding area is Naksan Park, which is a public park maintained by the city government since 2002. The park was used as the filming location for some dramas.

The Korea Museum of Modern Costume (Korean: 한국현대의상박물관; Hanja: 韓國現代衣裳博物館) is a fashion museum in Seoul, South Korea.

Jin A Chun (Korean: 진아춘; Hanja: 進雅春; RR: Jinachun; lit. arrival of a beautiful spring) is a historic Korean Chinese cuisine restaurant in Jongno District, Seoul, South Korea. It is recognized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government as the second oldest operating restaurant in Seoul, having been founded in 1925.

Seoul National University Hospital (서울대학교병원) is one of the oldest and biggest hospitals in South Korea. It is a general and teaching hospital of Seoul National University's College of Medicine. Its headquarters are in Yongon-dong, Jongno-gu in Seoul (서울특별시 종로구 연건동). Seoul National University Hospital consists of four branches: Except SNUH Healthcare System Gangnam Center, all branches have an emergency department (ED). SNUH is owned and operated by SNUH Special Corporation, independent from Seoul National University. The South Korean government's Ministry of Education and Human Resources partly supervises management of the hospital.

The third Republic of South Korea was the government of South Korea from December 1963 to November 1972. The Third Republic was founded on the dissolution of the Supreme Council for National Reconstruction that overthrew the Second Republic and established a military government in May 1961. Park Chung-hee, the Chairman of the Supreme Council, was elected President of South Korea in the 1963 presidential election. The third republic was presented as a return to civilian government under the National Assembly but in practice was a dictatorship under Park, Supreme Council members, and the Democratic Republican Party. The third republic prioritized South Korea's economic development, anti-communism, and strengthening ties with the United States and Japan. Park was re-elected in the 1967 presidential election, and the National Assembly forced through a constitutional amendment to allow him to seek a third term, and he was re-elected in the 1971 presidential election. Park declared a state of emergency in December 1971 and announced plans for Korean reunification in a joint communique with North Korea in July 1972. Park launched the October Restoration in October 1972, declaring martial law, dissolving the National Assembly, and announced plans for a new constitution. The third republic was dissolved on approval of the Yusin Constitution in the November 1972 constitutional referendum and replaced with the fourth Republic of Korea.
