The 1968 Eisenhower Trophy took place 9 to 12 October at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Black Rock, Victoria, Australia. It was the sixth World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 26 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. The United States won the Eisenhower Trophy for the third time, finishing a strokes ahead of the silver medalists, Great Britain and Ireland. Canada took the bronze medal while Australia finished fourth. Michael Bonallack and Vinny Giles had the lowest individual scores, six-under-par 286. Great Britain and Ireland led by 7 strokes after three rounds but the Americans scored 73, 73 and 75 in the final round to Great Britain and Irelands 76, 76, and 77 to win by a stroke. At the last hole, Ronnie Shade missed a 6-foot putt, after which Dick Siderowf holed from 3 feet to give the United States the victory.

The tournament was a stroke play team event, shortened from 72 holes, after the second round, scheduled on Friday, was cancelled due to bad weather, to 54 holes with 43 teams. Each team consisted of two players from a country. The combined score of each team determined the team results. The Republic of China team of Hsieh Min-Nan and Lu Liang-Huan won by two strokes over the Japan team of Takaaki Kono and Takashi Murakami. The individual competition was won by Hsieh two strokes ahead of Kono. This was the first team victory for the Republic of China, also known as Taiwan, in the history of the World Cup, founded in 1953 and until 1967 named the Canada Cup.

The 1959 Canada Cup took place 18–21 November at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia. It was the seventh Canada Cup event, which became the World Cup in 1967. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 30 teams. These were the same teams that had competed in 1958 but without Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela and with the addition of Indonesia. Each team consisted of two players from a country. The combined score of each team determined the team results. The Australian team of Kel Nagle and Peter Thomson won by 10 strokes over the American team of Cary Middlecoff and Sam Snead. The individual competition was won by Canadian Stan Leonard, who beat Peter Thomson at the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.

The 2013 ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf is a golf tournament that was played 21–24 November at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia. It was the 57th World Cup. The format changed from being a team event to being primarily an individual event with a team component. Sixty players from 34 countries competed in the individual tournament and 26 teams (two-player combined score) competed for the team prize. The total purse was US$8 million, $7 million for the individual competition and $1 million for the teams. The event was a 72-hole stroke play tournament. Official World Golf Ranking points were award for the first time in the World Cup.Australia's Jason Day shot a final round 70 to win the individual tournament. Day teamed with Adam Scott to win the team prize.

The 1988 World Cup took place 8–11 December at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia. It was the 34th World Cup event. It was a stroke play team event with 32 teams. Each team consisted of two players from a country. 22 teams were qualified through the 1987 tournament and another 10 teams were invited. The combined score of each team determined the team results. The United States team of Ben Crenshaw and Mark McCumber won by one stroke over the Japan team of brothers Masashi "Jumbo" Ozaki and Tateo "Jet" Ozaki The individual competition was won by Crenshaw.

The 1998 Presidents Cup was held 11–13 December in Australia at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Black Rock, Victoria, a suburb southeast of Melbourne. The International team won the competition by a margin of 201⁄2–111⁄2. This was the first time the International team won the competition, and through 2022, is their sole victory. The honorary chairman was Australian Prime Minister John Howard. It was the third Presidents Cup competition and the first held outside the United States. The competition returned to Royal Melbourne in 2011 and 2019

The 2022 Presidents Cup was the 14th edition of the Presidents Cup golf competition, held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, from September 22–25, 2022. This was Quail Hollow's first time hosting the Presidents Cup. The matches were originally scheduled for fall 2021. The USA won the competition and retained the cup.

The 2019 Presidents Cup was the 13th edition of the Presidents Cup golf competition, held at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Victoria, from 12 to 15 December 2019. Royal Melbourne previously hosted the tournament in 1998, at which the International team had their only victory, and 2011. It is the only international venue to have held the tournament more than once. The United States retained the cup, winning the competition 16–14. Trailing before the final day singles matches, they won six and tied four of the 12 matches.

The 2011 Presidents Cup was the ninth Presidents Cup, held 17–20 November in Australia at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Black Rock, Victoria, a suburb southeast of Melbourne. The United States team won by a score of 19 to 15 over the International team. Jim Furyk won all five of his matches.

Founded 132 years ago in 1891, it is Australia's oldest extant and continually existing golf club. Unlike many metropolitan golf venues, The Royal Melbourne Golf Club has a capacity for 15,000 spectators.Royal Melbourne has hosted numerous national and international events. Its 16 Australian Opens are surpassed by only the 17 hosted by The Australian Golf Club. It hosted the 1959 Canada Cup (now Mission Hills World Cup), and the 1972 World Cup. Royal Melbourne hosted the Bicentennial Classic, a tournament to celebrate the Australian Bicentenary in 1988. It was selected by the PGA Tour to hold the Presidents Cup, for the first time outside the United States, in December 1998. The match was convincingly won by the International team, captained by Peter Thomson, an honorary member of Royal Melbourne. The course hosted the Presidents Cup again in November 2011, won by the United States and December 2019. It was the site of the Women's Australian Open for the first time in February 2012, now an LPGA Tour event, and it returned three years later in 2015.
