Soldier Hollow

Soldier Hollow is a small hollow in the Wasatch Range that is located within the Wasatch Mountain State Park in northwestern Wasatch County, Utah, United States.The hollow was formerly a Native American encampment and was later used by a group of Army surveyors in the 1850s. While the hollow is fairly small, it is most notable for the Soldier Hollow winter sports venue that is located at the mouth of the hollow (and that was named after the hollow). The venue was created for the 2002 Winter Olympics and hosted the biathlon, cross-country skiing, and the cross country skiing portion of the Nordic combined events and is still in use.

Summit County (home to Park City) is one of the wealthiest counties in the United States.Originally a mining and agricultural region, the Wasatch Back has experienced rapid residential growth through the 1990s and continuing into the 2000s. Local recreational activities include skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, hiking, boating, and horseback riding. Park City is the site of numerous concerts and festivals, including the Sundance Film Festival.

Snake Creek is a 11.7-mile-long (18.8 km) southeastward-flowing stream tributary to the middle section of the Provo River in Wasatch County, Utah.

The Watkins–Coleman House was designed and built by John Watkins in 1869 in Midway, Utah. Watkins, trained as an architect in England, emigrated to the United States in 1856 to house his polygamist family. In 1903 the house was sold to Henry T. Coleman. The 2+1⁄2-story Carpenter Gothic house was built in red brick, with extensive scroll-cut ornamentation on the eaves. Corners are accented with contrasting white sandstone quoins. The steeply-pitched roof is covered in green-stained wood shingles.The Watkins–Coleman House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 14, 1971.

The Schneitter Hotel, at 700 N. Homestead Dr. in Midway, Utah, was built around 1886. Also known as Virginia House, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.It is a two-story central passage plan house with brick walls on a stone foundation, and is the only example of Federal style in the area.It was built as the guest house and principal building of Schneitter's Hot Pot Resort, which later became the Homestead Resort. This "was one of the two most successful and long-lived of the several bathing resorts developed in the Midway area in the nineteenth century to take advantage of the natural hot springs, many of which are surrounded by large, conical mineral deposits, or 'pots.' The Schneitter Hotel is one of the few remaining historic buildings that represent the recreational industry that was important in the early (and current) economy of the area."
