St. Joseph's Academy (SJA) was a Catholic school for girls in St. Paul, Minnesota, United States, from 1851 to 1971. Its origins trace to 1851, when the Sisters of St. Joseph opened a school for girls in a log cabin in the frontier settlement. In 1863 the school relocated to a new building, which was expanded over the following decades into a complex that still stands today as the oldest extant Catholic school building in the state of Minnesota.The school complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 for its local significance in the themes of architecture, education, and religion. It was nominated for being the state's oldest known Catholic school, a longstanding local landmark, and a symbol of a religious group's early educational efforts on the American frontier.

The St. Paul Curling Club (SPCC) is an historic curling club located in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, on Selby Avenue. It is the curling club with the largest active membership in the United States at over 1200 members. It was first established in 1885, and the present St. Paul CC was established when the Capitol City Curling Club and Nushka Curling Club merged in 1912. It is the oldest curling club in Minnesota. The club hosted the 2011 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship and the 2011 World Senior Curling Championships in April 2011.

The College of Visual Arts (CVA) in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, was a private, accredited, four-year college of art and design offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in fine arts, graphic design, illustration, and photography. The fine arts degree offered concentrations in drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. CVA began as one of the first learning environments in the Twin Cities specifically designed to ignite the creativity of artists and designers. CVA was one of a handful of art and design colleges in the U.S. that provided an arts education steeped in the liberal arts. With an enrollment of approximately 200 students and a faculty of 50, CVA offered a low student-teacher ratio. The college was one of only two private art and design colleges in Minnesota. The college announced in January 2013 that its doors would be closing forever effective in June. President Ann Ledy resigned on January 23, 2013, and Dr. Susan Short served as Acting President until the college closed on June 30, 2013.

The Burbank–Livingston–Griggs House is the second-oldest house on Summit Avenue in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. It was designed in Italianate style by architect Otis L. Wheelock of Chicago and built from 1862 to 1863. The work was commissioned by James C. Burbank, a wealthy owner of the Minnesota Stage Company. Later, four significant local architects left their mark on the landmark structure.The building was one of the first Minnesota properties nominated to the National Register of Historic Places, in 1970. It was listed for its state-level significance in the theme of architecture. It was nominated for being one of Minnesota's most elaborate examples of mid-19th-century Italianate architecture. In 1976 it was also included as a contributing property to the Historic Hill District.

One of the most distinctive cathedrals in the United States, it sits on Cathedral Hill overlooking downtown St. Paul and features a distinctive copper-clad dome. It is dedicated to Paul the Apostle, who is also the namesake of the City of St. Paul. The current building opened in 1915 as the fourth cathedral of the archdiocese to bear this name. On March 25, 2009, it was designated as the National Shrine of the Apostle Paul by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Vatican. It is the third-largest Catholic cathedral and sixth-largest church in the United States.

The James J. Hill House in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, was built by railroad magnate James J. Hill. The house, completed in 1891, is near the eastern end of Summit Avenue near the Cathedral of Saint Paul. The house, for its time, was very large and was the "showcase of St. Paul" until James J. Hill's death in 1916. It is listed as a U.S. National Historic Landmark, operated by the Minnesota Historical Society. It is also a contributing property to the Historic Hill District.The home has 36,000 square feet (3,344 square meters) of living area and 44,552 square feet of total space.
