Belluno

The province of Belluno (Italian: provincia di Belluno; Austrian German: provinz Belluno; Ladin: provinzia de Belum) is a province in the Veneto region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Belluno. It has an area of 3,610 square kilometres (1,390 sq mi) and a population of about 205,000.

Belluno Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Belluno, Basilica cattedrale di San Martino) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the historic centre of the city of Belluno, Veneto, Italy, dedicated to Saint Martin. It is the episcopal seat of the diocese of Belluno-Feltre. It was elevated to the status of a minor basilica on 18 June 1980 by Pope John Paul II.

The Diocese of Belluno-Feltre (Latin: Dioecesis Bellunensis-Feltrensis) is a Latin diocese of the Catholic Church located in the Veneto, northern Italy, organized in its current form in 1986. From 1197 to 1762, and again from 1818 to 1986, the Diocese of Belluno and the Diocese of Feltre were united under a single bishop, with the name diocese of Belluno e Feltre. The current diocese is a suffragan of the Patriarchate of Venice.

Belluno railway station (Italian: Stazione di Belluno) serves the town and comune of Belluno, in the Veneto region, northeastern Italy. Opened in 1912, it forms part of the Calalzo–Padua railway. The station is currently owned by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). The commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Train services to and from the station are regional trains operated by Trenitalia. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company.

Limana (Venetian: Łimana) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Belluno in the Italian region of Veneto, located about 70 kilometres (43 miles) north of Venice and about 5 kilometres (3 miles) southwest of Belluno. As of 31 December 2010, it had a population of 5 027 and an area of 39.2 square kilometres (15.1 sq mi).Limana is situated in the middle of Valbelluna, at the foot of prealpi and in front of the dolomites massif, crossed by the river Piave in the north side. The lower point is situated in the shore of the river at 320 metres (1,050 feet) above sea level, while the highest is on the top of Monte Pezza at 1,468 metres (4,816 feet). The commune belongs to the mountain union called Val Belluna. Limana borders the following municipalities: Belluno, Revine Lago, Sedico, Trichiana, Vittorio Veneto.

The Schiara (Italian: Monte Schiara) is a mountain in the southern Dolomites of Veneto in northern Italy. It is located just north of the town of Belluno, approximately 50 miles north of Venice. Monte Schiara has an elevation of 2,565 metres.

The Giardino Botanico delle Alpi Orientali (6.25 hectares), also known as the Giardino Botanico di Monte Faverghera, is an alpine botanical garden located in the Corpo Forestale dello Stato die Belluno on Monte Faverghera, southeast of Nevegal, Province of Belluno, Veneto, Italy. It is open daily except Mondays in the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The garden was founded in 1969, and located at 1400-1600 metres altitude on a site of sub-alpine scrub, swamps, bogs, pastures, valleys, and limestone cliffs. It contains about 800 plant species including Arenaria huteri, Moehringia glaucovirens, Paederota bonarota, Paederota lutea, Physoplexis comosa, Rhodothamnus chamaecistus, Wulfenia carinthiaca, and plants native to the oriental alps.

Soverzene is a comune (municipality) in the province of Belluno in the Italian region of Veneto, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Venice and about 10 kilometres (6 mi) northeast of Belluno. Soverzene borders the following municipalities: Erto e Casso, Longarone, Alpago, Ponte nelle Alpi.

The Bellunes Alps (German: Belluneser Alpen, Italian: Prealpi Bellunesi) is the now obsolete name of a mountain range on the southern edge of the Eastern Alps. They lie in the Italian regions of Venetia and Trentino-South Tyrol. They cover the provinces of Treviso, Pordenone and part of Vicenza. The name is derived from the town of Belluno. Their highest peak is Col Nudo at 2,472 m s.l.m.. They are part of the Southern Limestone Alps, and are mainly made of the chalk limestone of the Southern Alps with summit region made of main dolomite. The Bellunes Alps used to be an independent group in the Alpine Club Classification of the Eastern Alps (AVE) and had the number 55. In 1984 they were divided; the northern part being assigned to the Dolomites, and the southern part to the Southern Carnic Alps – the latter also appeared as the Bellunes Prealps (Belluneser Voralpen) in the Partizione delle Alpi where it formed Group 55d of the Venetian Alps (55). The northern part is also called the Bellunes Dolomites or Schiara Group, after its highest peak, Monte Schiara (2,565 m s.l.m.). In 1990, the northern, dolomitic part was declare a national park: the Bellunes Dolomites National Park.

Sedico is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Belluno in the Italian region Veneto, located about 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Venice and about 9 km (6 mi) west of Belluno. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 9,143 and an area of 91.4 square kilometres (35 sq mi).Sedico borders the following municipalities: Belluno, Gosaldo, La Valle Agordina, Limana, Longarone, Mel, Rivamonte Agordino, Santa Giustina, Sospirolo, Trichiana.
