Thomas and Mary Hogan House is a historic home located near Carrboro, Orange County, North Carolina. It was built about 1860, as a 1+1⁄2-story, Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It was enlarged to two-stories and updated with Queen Anne style design elements about 1890. The farmhouse is sheathed in plain weatherboard, has a gable-and-wing form, one gable end brick chimney, one interior brick chimney, and a one-story wraparound porch.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Carrboro is a town in Orange County in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 21,295 at the 2020 census. The town, which is part of the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill combined statistical area, was named after North Carolina industrialist Julian Shakespeare Carr (who never lived in Carrboro). Located directly west of Chapel Hill, home of the University of North Carolina's flagship campus, Carrboro has a reputation as one of the most progressive communities in the Southeastern United States. It was the first municipality in North Carolina to elect an openly gay mayor (Michael R. Nelson in 1995) and the first municipality in the state to grant domestic-partner benefits to same-sex couples. In October 2002, Carrboro was among the first municipalities in the South to adopt resolutions opposing the Iraq War and the USA PATRIOT Act.

Chapel Hill High School is part of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools district which contains two other high schools, Carrboro High School and East Chapel Hill High School.

Eubanks is an unincorporated community in Orange County, North Carolina, United States, located north of downtown Chapel Hill and south of Blackwood Station. The Orange County landfill is part of the Eubanks area; however, most of the area is rural.

Formerly Abby Court, and previously Old Well, is a complex of over 300 residences in North Carolina. Formerly advertised as a complex of “condominiums,” however only a few units are still privately owned. It was purchased in 2013 by an affiliate of Aspen Square Management and underwent extensive renovations along with its new name.

University Lake is a manmade freshwater lake in Carrboro, North Carolina. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill created the lake in 1932 by building two dams, at the confluence of the Morgan Creek, Phil's Creek, Neville Creek, Price Creek, and Pritchard's Mill Creek. Marshes occur where the creeks meet with the lake, and this serves as environment for wildlife such as various species of waterfowl. It was originally built to act as a water reservoir for UNC's campus, and the neighboring communities of Carrboro and Chapel Hill. Severe droughts in the 1960s and 1970s lowered the water level, and it soon became necessary for a new reservoir to be built to complement University Lake. It was the sole source of water to the Orange Water and Sewer Authority until the Cane Creek Reservoir was built. The lake is open in the summer for public fishing and recreation. The UNC women's rowing team also trains on the lake.

Carr Mill Mall is a small, local shopping mall located in Carrboro, North Carolina. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Alberta Mill Complex. It is also a host for numerous local live performances and other cultural events.

Weaver Street Market is a worker- and consumer-owned cooperative selling natural and organic food with a focus on local and fair trade products. The original market is situated in the heart of Carrboro, North Carolina in Carr Mill Mall and plays host to many community events. It occupies a central location in the town of Carrboro and serves as a "community gathering place."Besides the original Carrboro location, Weaver Street Market has expanded into three additional locations in Southern Village in Chapel Hill, historic downtown Hillsborough, North Carolina, and at The Dillon in Raleigh, North Carolina. Weaver Street Market previously operated a restaurant, Panzella, which features local food. In late December 2013, Panzanella officially ceased business operations.

Carrboro Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Carrboro, Orange County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 12 contributing buildings in the central business district of Carrboro. The district's buildings date from about 1910 to the mid-1920s and are primarily one- and two-story brick commercial buildings. Notable buildings include the "Flatiron Building" (c. 1920), Hearn's Grocery (1924), a Bank and Jewelry Store (c. 1920-1924), the Miles Andrews House (c. 1910), Western Auto Store (c. 1924), and the building at 118-120 East Main Street (c. 1917-1920).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Thomas F. Lloyd Historic District is a national historic district located at Carrboro, Orange County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 25 contributing buildings developed as housing for textile mill workers associated with the 1910 Thomas F. Lloyd Manufacturing Company. The district's buildings date between 1910 and 1915 and are primarily one- and two-story frame mill worker dwellings. A notable dwelling is located at 214 Maple Avenue, which was reportedly built by Thomas Lloyd as a "guest house" for the mill.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Cat's Cradle is a music venue and nightclub located in Carrboro, North Carolina, less than a mile from the University of North Carolina campus. It has two floors with a capacity of 750 people. In the early 1990s, it contributed to the Chapel Hill region being called the "Next Seattle" by the music press, given that the club hosted upcoming regional and national alternative and grunge acts such as Nirvana (who last performed there just 10 days after the release of Nevermind), Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Ween (who documented their December 9, 1992, performance with At the Cat's Cradle, 1992). In later years, the venue also saw performances by John Mayer, Iggy Pop, Sonic Youth and Joan Baez. In August 2009, The Cosmopolitans played their reunion concert at Cat's Cradle following a 27-year hiatus.

Franklin Street Arts Collective is an art gallery, art collective, and non-profit organization located in Carrboro, North Carolina. Franklin Street Arts Collective is commonly called FRANK. FRANK features a wide variety of art by local and regional artists including painting, mixed media, ceramics, furniture, jewelry, and sculpture. FRANK is a contemporary fine arts gallery, featuring work by local artists and enriching the community through exhibitions, events, and arts education.
