Steel Valley School District

The Homestead Historic District is a historic district in Homestead, Munhall, and West Homestead, Pennsylvania that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1990. It is the site of the Homestead Strike of 1892, when the Carnegie Steel Company under the leadership of Henry Clay Frick broke the Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers union.It includes the Homestead Pennsylvania Railroad Station, which is separately listed on the NRHP, and the Bost Building, a U.S. National Historic Landmark. It is located close to Pittsburgh.

The Carnegie Library of Homestead is a public library founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1898. It is one of 2,509 Carnegie libraries worldwide; 1,689 built in the United States. It was the sixth library commissioned by Carnegie in the U.S. and the seventh to open.1 Completed in November 1898, it is the third oldest Carnegie library in continuous operation in its original structure in the U.S. after the Main Branch and Lawrenceville Branch of Pittsburgh.2 The library is an independent entity; it is not a "branch" of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, which operates one main facility and 19 branches within the city of Pittsburgh. The building houses a library with a collection of over 34,000, the 1,047-seat "Carnegie Library Music Hall" and an athletic club with a heated indoor pool.

The Bost Building, also known as Columbia Hotel, is located on East Eighth Avenue (PA 837) in Homestead, Pennsylvania, United States. Built just before the 1892 Homestead Strike, it was used as headquarters by the Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers and for reporters covering the confrontation. It is the only significant building associated with the strike that remains intact. It is a contributing property to the Homestead Historic District. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1999.After some use as a rooming house and hotel, today it serves as the headquarters and visitor center for the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area.

Munhall is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, on the west bank of the Monongahela River, 8 miles (13 km) south of the confluence of the Monongahela and the Allegheny rivers where the Ohio River begins. It abuts the borough of Homestead. A large part of the Homestead Works of the Carnegie Steel Company existed in Munhall. Steel products were the only items made in Munhall in 1910 when 5,185 people lived here. In 1940, 13,900 people lived in Munhall. The population was 11,406 at the 2010 census. Munhall, along with the boroughs of Homestead and West Homestead, is served by the Steel Valley School District.

St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, also known as St. Nicholas Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, is a historic Russian Orthodox church at 903 Ann Street in Homestead, Pennsylvania. It was built between 1936 and 1958. The church serves the local Rusyn community. It is a member of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese. The church's stainless steel domes were built using steel from local mills.

Homestead Steel Works was a large steel works located on the Monongahela River at Homestead, Pennsylvania in the United States. The company developed in the nineteenth century as an extensive plant served by tributary coal and iron fields, a railway 425 miles (684 km) long, and a line of lake steamships. The works was also the site of one of the more serious labor disputes in U.S. history, which became known as the Homestead strike of 1892.

Homestead is a disused railway station located in Homestead, Pennsylvania. The station was built in 1906 by the Pennsylvania Railroad. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 26, 1985, as the Homestead Pennsylvania Railroad Station.Currently, the station is used by Allegheny County District Attorney's Office as its Regional Support and Training Center at the Waterfront.

The Waterfront is a super-regional open air shopping mall spanning the three boroughs of Homestead, West Homestead, and Munhall near Pittsburgh. The shopping mall sits on land once occupied by U.S. Steel's Homestead Steel Works plant, which closed in 1986. It has a gross leasable area of 700,000 square feet (65,000 m2) in "The Waterfront" and 400,000 square feet (37,000 m2) in "The Town Center." The development officially opened in 1999. More development continued into the early 21st century.The Waterfront is accessible from the Parkway East via the Homestead High-Level Bridge, now known as the Homestead Grays Bridge. Pennsylvania Route 837, which runs through the town of Homestead also connects drivers to The Waterfront via Amity Street and Waterfront Drive.

West Homestead is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, 8 miles (13 km) southeast of Pittsburgh, on the Monongahela River. Heavy industries associated with nearby steel mills existed here. Established were axle works, brickworks, and manufactories of machinery, car wheels, etc. The largest concern was Mesta Machinery which was one of the world's leading industrial manufacturers from 1898 until 1983. The population was 1,929 at the 2010 census.

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU) is a branch of the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and is the largest of the 29 intermediate units in Pennsylvania. It was created by the state’s General Assembly in 1971, and is headquartered in Homestead. The AIU provides specialized education services to 42 suburban public school districts and five career and technical centers in Allegheny County. The agency, which has about 1,200 employees at nearly 400 sites throughout the county, also operates 10 family centers and three schools for exceptional children. Funded by federal, state, county and private grants, the AIU coordinates more than 130 programs designed to help infants, young children, students and adults. In 2020, the programs offered by the AIU served more than 113,000 students in public schools.

The Pinkerton's Landing Bridge (officially known as the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad Bridge at Munhall) is a truss bridge that carries CSX Transportation's Pittsburgh Subdivision across the Monongahela River between Munhall, Pennsylvania and Rankin, Pennsylvania, United States. The structure's nickname references the 1892 Homestead strike. It is also known as the Pemickey Bridge, for the Pittsburgh, McKeesport and Youghiogheny Railroad (P. McK. & Y., pronounced "Pemickey") which used to run over the bridge.
