Stow, Lincolnshire

The Minster Church of St Mary, Stow in Lindsey, is a major Anglo-Saxon church in Lincolnshire and is one of the largest and oldest parish church buildings in England. It has been claimed that the Minster originally served as the cathedral church of the diocese of Lindsey, founded in the 7th century and is sometimes referred to as the "Mother Church of Lincolnshire".It is partly Saxon and partly Norman in date and is designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building and was also included in the World Monuments Fund's 2006 list of the world's 100 most endangered sites. It has the tallest Saxon arches of its time in Britain, the earliest known example of Viking graffiti in England (a rough scratching of an oared Viking sailing ship, probably dating from the 10th century), an Early English font standing on nine supports with pagan symbols around its base and an early wall painting dedicated to St Thomas Becket. Today it is part of the Stow Group of Churches.

Sturton by Stow is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish was 1,369 at the 2011 census.The village is situated on the north-south B1241 and east–west A1500 Tillbridge Road (a Roman road). Nearby to the north is Stow. Sturton falls within the ecclesiastical parish of Stow, consequently the parish church of Sturton is Stow Minster. The Church of England maintained a mission church in Sturton, a brick building dedicated to St Hugh and designed by John Loughborough Pearson. The building was sold in January 2022 and is now in private ownership. The nearest churches are now Stow Minster, St. Botolph's Church in Saxilby and St. Margaret of Antioch Church in Marton. The Sturton by Stow Secondary Modern School closed in the 1980s. There is a primary school on School Lane. The village public house is the Plough Inn on Tillbridge Road. The River Till is 1 mile (1.6 km) to the east.

St Hugh's Church is a redundant parish church in the village of Sturton by Stow in Lincolnshire, England. It was built originally for the residents of the village and was under the demotion of Stow Minster in Stow. It was built originally in 1879 as a mission church and this remained the status of the church until its closure in 2022. The church has since been sold and is in private ownership. The nearest church is now Stow Minster.

Willingham by Stow is a rural village in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish (known as Willingham) at the 2011 census was 488. It is situated on the B1241, 6 miles (10 km) south-east from Gainsborough and 10 miles (16.1 km) north-west from Lincoln. To the north is Kexby, to the south is Stow and to the east is Fillingham. The name 'Willingham' means 'homestead/village of the people of Willa'.

Bransby is a hamlet in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 7 miles (11 km) north-west from the city and county town of Lincoln, 9 miles (14 km) south-east from Gainsborough, and 0.5 miles (0.8 km) from both the A1500 Roman road to the north, and the B1241 to the west. The River Till flows past the village 400 yards (366 m) to the east.

Kexby is a small village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 340. It lies at the side of the B1241 road, and is situated 4 miles (6 km) south-east of Gainsborough and 11 miles (18 km) north-west of the city and county town of Lincoln.

Stow Park railway station was a railway station that served the villages of Marton and Stow in Lincolnshire, England on the line between Lincoln and Doncaster. It closed in 1961. The station and nearby signal box were listed in 1985.

Coates medieval settlement is a deserted medieval village in the civil parish of Stow, in the West Lindsey district, in the county of Lincolnshire, England. It is about 2 miles (3.2 km) east of the village of Stow. It is a Scheduled Monument. Today there is just a farm with a farmyard and a church standing nearby.

Thorpe in the Fallows, also known as Thorpe le Fallows is a small hamlet and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England, approximately 6 miles (10 km) north from the city and county town of Lincoln. It has sometimes been called "West Thorpe", with the nearby parish of Aisthorpe known as "East Thorpe". The population of the hamlet is included in the civil parish of Stow. The area surrounding the existing hamlet is scheduled and includes the earthwork remains of the larger medieval village, which was established before the late 11th century. Documentary evidence for a church first occurs in the mid-12th century. Following the Dissolution in the 16th century, the parish came under the ownership of the Dean of Lincoln, and in the 17th and 18th centuries the village gradually became depopulated. The church, which was dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalen, was demolished early in the 17th century. A war memorial marks the site of the church, located within a rectangular enclosure representing the churchyard, the remains of the church survive as buried building foundations.

Ingleby is a hamlet in the civil parish of Saxilby with Ingleby, in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated less than 1 mile (1.6 km) north from the village of Saxilby, and 6 miles (10 km) north-west of Lincoln. Ingleby comprised three areas, North Ingleby, South Ingleby and Low Ingleby.Ingleby is recorded three times as "Englebi" in the Domesday Book; in 1086 it comprised 38 households, which for the time was considered very large.In North Ingleby there are earthworks of a scheduled manor complex centred on a moated enclosure now occupied by Ingleby Hall Farm. Documents in 1569–70 record a Deer Park in the area. It is also believed there was a church or chapel here – Saxilby church has a list of incumbents for Ingleby church – dating from 1086 to 1416.At South Ingleby there are earthworks for another manor, an island refuge contained within a moat, on the site of Ingleby Grange.

Upton is a small village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 456. It is geographically situated 3 miles (5 km) south-east from Gainsborough.

Broxholme is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The village is situated approximately 6 miles (10 km) north-west from the city and county town of Lincoln. According to the 2001 census, Broxholme had a population of 58. At the 2011 census the population remained less than 100 and was included in the civil parish of South Carlton. Broxholme Grade II listed Anglican parish church is dedicated to All Saints. It was rebuilt in 1857.
