RAAF Bradfield Park

Bradfield, the western portion of which was also known as Bradfield Park, was a suburb on the North Shore of Sydney, Australia between 1924 and 1977, since absorbed by neighbouring Lindfield. The name commemorates Dr John Job Crew Bradfield, who oversaw design and construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge between 1913 and 1932.

West Killara is a locality in the suburb of Killara, a suburb located on the Upper North Shore Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 14 kilometres north-west of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. West Killara is bounded on the north and east by Lady Game Drive, to the south-east by Fiddens Wharf Road and to the south and west by the Lane Cove River and Lane Cove National Park. West Killara has no shops but is close to a small shopping area in Moore Avenue, Lindfield. A bus service runs to Lindfield railway station. Beaumont Road Public School, a government primary school located in Beaumont Road.

Fiddens Wharf or Killara Wharf was a former wharf on the Lane Cove River in Sydney, Australia. Named after the convict Joseph Fidden, the wharf was primarily used for the transport of timber and supplies to and from Sydney in the 19th century. It is unknown whether the original structure was a conventional wharf, or a mooring place with lines connected to a metal ring secured in a nearby rock. Fiddens was one of the three main wharves on the river.

Commandment Rock is a large rock located in the Lane Cove National Park, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The site is home to rock engravings, both Aboriginal and European. An engraving of the Fifth Commandment on the rock gives it its name. It is reputed to have been carved in the late 19th century by a nearby resident, Thomas Tunbridge, as a punishment from his parents. Erosion has caused this engraving to be invisible today. Other engravings included a cannon, anchor, axe, sword, bow and arrow, and a crescent and "sunburst" motif, the only two Aboriginal engravings at the site. A sign posted near the rock depicts the engravings as they used to be. The site is easy to access, located just next to the road, and is adjoined by a covered picnic area. However, it is not recommended to walk on the site, as this will increase the rate of erosion and destruction of the engravings.

In Australia, during winter and spring 2001, low rainfall across combined with a hot, dry December created ideal conditions for bushfires. On the day of Christmas Eve, firefighters from the Grose Vale Rural Fire Service (RFS) brigade attended a blaze in rugged terrain at the end of Cabbage Tree Rd, Grose Vale, believed to have been caused by power lines in the Grose Valley. On Christmas Day, strong westerly winds fuelled more than 100 bushfires across the state, creating a plume of smoke that extended across Sydney. This plume of smoke would not clear for some days as the bushfires continued to burn, creating some of the worst pollution that Sydney has ever experienced, with a regional pollution index reading of: 200 in North-West Sydney; 120 in Central-East and South-West Sydney. The fires mainly burnt in Lane Cove National Park, the Royal National Park and Blue Mountains National Park. Approximately 753,314 hectares (1,861,480 acres) was burnt. 121 homes were destroyed across the state and 36 damaged, mostly in the lower Blue Mountains and west of the Royal National Park around Helensburgh. Arsonists were believed to be responsible for starting many of the fires, leading to harsher penalties for those who start bushfires. The dry conditions that started the bushfires continued well into 2002, resulting in the worst drought in 100 years. The drought was declared a "one in 1000 year event". The drought finally broke with the La Nina event of 2010–2011. Significantly higher than average rainfall began in July 2010, it was Australia's second wettest year on record.An Erickson S-64 Aircrane helicopter became something of a celebrity during this time. Elvis (N179AC) was loaned to NSW by Victoria and proved instantly successful.

Lane Cove River Tourist Park is a caravan park and campground in the Australian state of New South Wales located in the suburb of Macquarie Park within the boundaries of the Lane Cove National Park and about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is operated by the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service. It is located on the western side of national park.

De Burghs Bridge is a road bridge that carries the Lane Cove Road, part of the A3, across the Lane Cove River in Macquarie Park, Sydney, Australia. The bridge stretches from Macquarie Park in the south to West Pymble in the north.

Fullers Bridge, officially called the Fullers Creek Bridge, is a road bridge that carries Delhi Road to Millwood Avenue across the Lane Cove River, in Chatswood West, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The concrete beam bridge is located 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) northwest of the Sydney central business district and connects Chatswood to North Ryde as part of the A38. The main entrance to Lane Cove National Park is located adjacent to the western end of Fullers Bridge.

The Marian Street Theatre is located in the Sydney suburb of Killara. The theatre previously played a significant role in the cultural life of the North Shore and is widely remembered by former patrons and theatre lovers across Sydney.Built in 1906 as a Soldiers Memorial Hall, it was used as a community hall up until 1966. Hosting dances, parties, lectures, drama performances, Polio vaccines and school breakups. In 1948, the actress Vivien Leigh opened a flower show at Marian Street. The building was transformed into a community theatre in 1966 by the English born actor, Alexander Archdale.Seating was increased from 311 to 400 in 1980. In the early 1980s, theatre programs credited the "theatre cat" known as "spunky". Often beset by financial difficulties, the theatre has now evolved into the Marian Street Children's Theatre and Drama School (MSTYP - Marian Street Theatre for Young People). For safety reasons, the theatre temporarily closed in 2013 and work is scheduled to begin in mid-2021 on the renovations. Marian Street Theatre for Young People continues to operate externally from the Marian Street Theatre building, while the site is closed. Artistic directors included Peter Collingwood, Aarne Neeme, John Krummel, Noel Ferrier and Alastair Duncan. Prominent actors who performed at Marian Street include Leonard Teale, Stuart Wagstaff, Ruth Cracknell, Helen Morse, Ron Haddrick, Noel Hodda and Nancye Hayes.

Killara () is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) north-west of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. East Killara is a separate suburb and West Killara is a locality within Killara.

The North Shore Synagogue is a Modern Orthodox Jewish synagogue located in the Sydney suburb of Lindfield, New South Wales, Australia. Founded in 1947, and having built its synagogue in 1950, it is the oldest synagogue on Sydney's North Shore.

Killara railway station is located on the North Shore line, serving the Sydney suburb of Killara. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 North Shore line services. Killara Railway Station has heritage significance at a local level and is set among expansive gardens, rare in the Sydney Metropolitan train network.
