Bournville School

The Serbian Orthodox Church of the Holy Prince Lazar (Serbian: Српска православна црква Светог кнеза Лазара, romanized: Srpska pravoslavna crkva Svetog kneza Lazara), also known as Lazarica (Лазарица), is a Serbian Orthodox church located at Cob Lane in Bournville, Birmingham, England and was built for political refugees from Yugoslavia after World War II, with the support of the exiled Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia. Serbs have been associated with Bournville since Dame Elizabeth Cadbury sponsored thirteen Serbian refugee children of World War I. Built in traditional 14th-century Byzantine form by Yugoslavian architect Dr Dragomir Tadic and Bournville Village Trust, it is a replica of a church in Serbia using the same materials from sacred places of worship. Completed in 1968, it is of brick and stone with three sets of bronze doors and a candelabrum from Serbia. It has no seats, which is the usual thing for traditional Orthodox churches. Moreover, the interior has a full scheme of traditional Byzantine decoration. The dome contains the image of Christ Pantocrator, and the hemi-dome of the apse contains that of the Virgin Mary. At the bottom of the walls are the warrior saints, above these are patriarchs and priestly saints, and at the top are the apostles and scenes from the twelve major Christian feasts. These murals are painted fresco, meaning that the paint was applied meticulously to wet walls. The cultural centre is a Grade C locally listed building.

Northfield Manor House is a Manor House, on Bristol Road South, Northfield, Birmingham, England. It was formerly known as Manor Farm, and under that name was home to George and Elizabeth Cadbury. On 30 July 2014, the building suffered extensive damage caused by a severe fire, confirmed as arson. On 28 July 2021 almost seven years after the fire, it was reported that the building had been repaired after undergoing a two year reconstruction.

Weoley Hill United Reformed Church is at the junction of Bryony Road and Green Meadow Road in Birmingham. It is notable architecturally for its unusual Scottish gable. Other sources refer to it as a Danish-style gable.

Woodbrooke Study Centre is a Quaker college in Selly Oak, Birmingham, England. The only Quaker Study Centre in Europe, it was founded by George Cadbury in 1903 and occupies his former home on the Bristol Road. Woodbrooke's first Director of Studies was the biblical scholar J. Rendel Harris. Other early staff included Horace Gundry Alexander and Leyton Richards, a prominent pacifist who was appointed as Warden in 1916.The college was extended between 1907 and 1914 by the addition of a new wing, a new common room and Holland House, a men's hostel. By 1922 it was estimated that 1,250 British students and 400 foreign students had attended the college.It was federated with eight other nearby colleges, known collectively as Selly Oak Colleges. Woodbrooke provides short courses on personal spiritual growth, theology, creative arts, and training for Quaker roles. Its Centre for Research in Quaker Studies offers postgraduate taught and research degrees through the Universities of Birmingham and Lancaster. It is also available for conferences.

The BBC Drama Village is a television production facility run by the BBC. It is operated by their BBC Birmingham branch and based largely at the Selly Oak campus of the University of Birmingham in Birmingham, England. The centre consists of five buildings. Archibald House and Melville House are Grade II listed arts and crafts-style former college buildings on the university campus. There are then three units on an industrial estate in nearby Stirchley. Facilities include studios and sets, wardrobe and technical departments and extensive post-production suites.

Northfield Town Football Club is an amateur football club based in the Selly Oak area in the South of the City of Birmingham, England. The senior first team play in the Birmingham and District Football League, the over 35s play in the Central Warwickshire Over 35's Football League, the overs 50s team play in the Worcestershire Over 50s League and the youth and junior teams play in the Central Warwickshire Youth Football League and the Midland Junior Premier League. History Although Northfield Town F.C. came into being in 1966, its origins go back to the early 1950s. After spells in the Kings Norton League, Warwickshire & West Midlands Alliance and the Mercian League, they joined the Combination in 1957 (then the Worcestershire Combination). Playing under the name of Allen's Cross they won the League Challenge Cup in their first year and the League Championship in 1961–62. Following amalgamation with another successful local side, Castle Rovers, the club played briefly as Cross Castle United before adopting the present title of Northfield Town. In 2013 Northfield Town F.C. amalgamated with Shenley Radford Youth F.C. to create a youth system. This was the beginning of Northfield Town Juniors F.C., with the teams competing in the Central Warwickshire Youth Football League. The 2013-14 season was the last season in the Midland Football Combination, in which Northfield Town finished 13th before entering the newly formed Midland Football League for the 2014-15 season. For the 2021-22 season the club went through some major changes and made the decision to join the Birmingham and District Football League, with the hope this will help the clubs growth in the long term. During the 2016/17 the club twice broke its record for largest attendance, firstly Vs Paget Rangers, when 101 people attended the game, and then again on the last league game of the season Vs Montpellier with an attendance of 124 people.

Dame Elizabeth Cadbury School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Bournville area of Birmingham, West Midlands, England. The school was named after Dame Elizabeth Cadbury. The school was established in 1955, and the author and folklorist Roy Palmer was headmaster of the school from 1972 to 1983. Later, the school gained specialist status as a Technology College and was renamed Dame Elizabeth Cadbury Technology College. Previously a foundation school administered by Birmingham City Council, in October 2016 Dame Elizabeth Cadbury Technology College converted to academy status and was renamed Dame Elizabeth Cadbury School. The school is now sponsored by the Matrix Academy Trust. The sixth form provision is offered as part of the 'Oaks Sixth Form College', a consortium of 7 secondary schools in South-West Birmingham.

Fircroft College is a specialist adult residential college based in Selly Oak, Birmingham, England. The college was founded by George Cadbury Junior, son of George Cadbury Senior, in 1908 and offers over 150 short residential courses throughout the year, most of which last three days. Fircroft was founded with a strong ethos of social justice which continues to this day, with many learners coming to Fircroft with no or few prior qualifications. The short course programme covers subject areas such as English, Maths, ICT, Gardening, Personal and Social Development, Counselling and Mentoring. These courses are aimed at helping adults improve their skills and confidence and work towards reaching their own personal or work goals. The college also runs a number of professional short courses and qualifications aimed at adults working or involved in the voluntary and community sectors. As well as the short course programme, there is a 30-week Access to Higher Education programme for adults wishing to progress to university - this course has non-residential as well as residential places available. Fircroft College is located in George Cadbury Junior's family home, originally called Primrose Hill, set in six acres (24,000 m2) of gardens and woodland. An adjoining teaching centre housing a new library, conference rooms, IT facilities and teaching rooms was opened in 2005. The college uses these facilities to host a number of conferences, training events, meetings, away days and team building sessions during the course of the year. Fircroft was rated as an ‘outstanding’ college by Ofsted in its last inspection and has also been awarded Beacon Status in recognition of its academic excellence. It was federated with eight other nearby colleges, known collectively as Selly Oak Colleges.

University of Birmingham School is a mixed free school that occupies a new, purpose-built building located on the University of Birmingham's Selly Oak campus. The University of Birmingham School opened in September 2015, and is sponsored by the University of Birmingham and managed by an Academy Trust. The university obtained twenty million pounds for the school's building, but later supplemented this with three million pounds of its own money to pay for expanded features such as wider corridors and very large classrooms. The curriculum includes a commitment to teaching virtue and empathy as part of curricular as well as extra-curricular activities.In 2016, the school had 1768 applications for 150 places, and was considering expanding its intake.
