Furttal is a valley region in Switzerland between Lägern and Altberg in the Dielsdorf district of the canton of Zurich. The area's name stems from the German word for ford, or furt, and is named after the crossing over the Limmat in the community of Würenlos on the west side of the region. The area is bordered in the east near the community of Regensdorf by the Katzensee lakes. The population of the region is expanding rapidly due to its proximity to city of Zurich and its beautiful landscape. Furttal consists of the area of the municipalities: Buchs ZH Dällikon Dänikon Hüttikon Otelfingen Boppelsen Regensdorf including: Watt and Adlikon The old part of Würenlos (including: Oetlikon) in the Canton of Aargau is also considered part of the region

Altberg

Altberg is a range of hills in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland. It runs between the Limmat Valley in the south and the Furttal valley in the north. Its height is up to 631 m above the sea level. In 2020 a 35-meter Altberg observation tower was built.

Otelfingen railway station

Otelfingen is a railway station in Switzerland. The station is situated in the municipality of Otelfingen. The station is located on the Furttal railway line between Wettingen and Zürich Oerlikon stations.Otelfingen is a stop of the Zurich S-Bahn served by trains on line S6, which operate twice-hourly to and from Zürich Hauptbahnhof, with a journey time of just under 30 minutes. The station is linked to the villages of Otelfingen and Boppelsen by Glattalbus bus route 450, which operates twice-hourly on Monday through Saturday.Otelfingen was the junction for the former Niederglatt-Otelfingen railway line, which once connected with Niederglatt station on the Bülach branch of the Bülach-Regensberg Railway but closed to through trains in 1937. A short stretch of the line has been retained as a siding, and joins the main line just to the east of the station.

Lägern

The Lägern (also spelled Lägeren; 866 m) is a wooded mountain of the Jura Mountains, stretching from Baden to Dielsdorf, about 15 km north-west of Zurich. The culminating point is located 1 km west of Hochwacht within the canton of Zurich, the border with the canton of Aargau running on a slightly lower summit named Burghorn (859 m). The Lägern lies in the easternmost part of the Jura Mountains, east of the river Aare. It is the highest summit of the range lying between the Rhine, Aare and Limmat. Its location east of the Aare makes it topographically connected to the Appenzell Alps, by the chain of hills running north of Lake Zurich. The mountain is entirely traversed by a trail following the crest from Baden to Dielsdorf. From Dielsdorf a road also leads to Hochwacht, where a radar is operated by Skyguide (municipality of Boppelsen).
