Margaret Island

The Alfréd Hajós National Swimming Stadium is an aquatics complex located on Margaret Island in Budapest, Hungary.The facility has four floors, covers an area of about 80,000 square meters and has eight indoor and outdoor pools, including training pools, diving pools and competitive swimming pools both for short course and long course.The indoor swimming pool was built in 1930, off the plans of the renowned Hungarian swimmer and architect Alfréd Hajós, of whom the centre takes its name after. Eszter Pécsi, Hungary's first female architect and structural engineer, designing the articulated reinforced concrete arches. The outdoor swimming pool and the diving facility were completed in 1937, since then they have expanded and improved several times.Recently the facility was renovated before the 2006 European Championship, with an additional outdoor 50-meter pool and diving pool, named after Tamás Széchy. This brought the total number of indoor and outdoor pools up to 8 including an international standard diving platform for professional and amateur athletes. The Hajós Alfréd National Sports Club has hosted many world competitions and regularly hosts international water polo tournaments. The venue was the home of the European Aquatics Championships in 2006 and 2010 and the 2014 Men's European Water Polo Championship and 2014 Women's European Water Polo Championship competitions.

The Óbuda Synagogue is a synagogue built in Óbuda, Hungary, in 1820–1821.

The Aquincum Military Amphitheatre is the greater of two amphitheatres in Budapest, Hungary, the other being the Aquincum Civil Amphitheatre. It is located in the Obuda district, just north near the Danube river. It was built around 145, during the reign of emperor Antoninus Pius.

Újlipótváros ("New Leopold Town") is a neighborhood in the 13th district of Budapest, Hungary. It is located north to Lipótváros ("Leopold Town") neighbourhood of the 5th District, with the Szent István Boulevard (Szent István körút) separating it from its southern neighbor, Lipótváros. It lies east of the river Danube, west of Terézváros, and south of Vizafogó. Unlike most other neighborhoods in the 13th district, Újlipótváros is considered part of the Budapest city center.

Árpád Bridge or Árpád híd is a bridge in Budapest, Hungary, connecting northern Buda (Óbuda) and Pest across the Danube. Until the inauguration of Megyeri Bridge in 2008, it was the longest bridge in Hungary, spanning about 2 km (1.24 mi) with the sections leading up to the bridge, and 928 m (0.58 mi) without them. It is 35.3 m (116 ft) wide with pedestrian and bicycle paths and a tramline. At its Óbuda end is Flórián tér, Szentlélek tér (near the Main Square of Óbuda, the Vasarely and Kassák Museums). Margaret Island is connected to Árpád Bridge through an embranchment approximately in the middle of the bridge, and crosses the Southern tip of Óbuda Island as well, although there is no road, pedestrian or any other connection whatsoever between the two. (See Sziget Festival) At the Pest end, the adjoining Line 3 (North-South) metro station was called "Árpád híd" until 31 January 2020.

Frankel Leo Synagogue is located on the Buda side of Budapest, Hungary (2nd district, Frankel Leo street 49). It is a Neolog synagogue which is the local mainstream of the Jewish community. The congregation and prayers similar to the Conservative/Masorti but without being egalitarian. Men and women sit separated but without mechitzah. They follow the Nusach Ashkenaz.

Margaret Bridge or Margit híd (sometimes Margit Bridge) is a three-way bridge in Budapest, Hungary, connecting Buda and Pest across the Danube and linking Margaret Island to the banks. It is the second-northernmost and second-oldest public bridge in Budapest. It was designed by French engineer Ernest Goüin and built by the construction company Maison Ernest Goüin et Cie. between 1872 and 1876, the engineer in charge being Émile Nouguier. Margaret Bridge was the second permanent bridge in Budapest after Széchenyi Chain Bridge. This bridge leads up to Margaret Island, its two parts enclosing 165 degrees with each other at the embranchment towards the island. The reason for this unusual geometry is that the small extension to connect to Margaret Island was hastily inserted into the original design but not built until two decades later due to lack of funds. The bridge's two ends are Jászai Mari tér (northern end of Grand Boulevard) and Germanus Gyula park (stop of Szentendre HÉV; the Lukács and Király Baths are nearby).It is 607.5 metres (1,993 ft) in length and 25 metres (82 ft) in width.

Hableány ([ˈhɒblɛaːɲ]; Hungarian for 'Mermaid') was a 27-metre (89 ft) river cruiser operated on the Danube river in Budapest, Hungary. On the rainy night of May 29, 2019, at 9:05 pm the 135-metre (443 ft) Viking Sigyn collided with Hableány from behind under the Margaret Bridge near the Parliament Building. Hableány sank in 7 seconds. The heavy rainfall and the resulting strong currents hampered rescue efforts, with some bodies found 100 km downstream. With 2 Hungarian crew and 33 South Korean tourists on board, 7 tourists were rescued at the scene; all others were later found to be dead.

The Óbuda University (Hungarian: Óbudai Egyetem, Latin: Universitas Budensis), named after Óbuda, a part of Budapest, is a university in Budapest, Hungary. It was founded in 2000 as Budapest Tech (Budapesti Műszaki Főiskola) with the merging of three polytechnical institutes (Bánki Donát Technical College, Kandó Kálmán Technical College, Light Industry Technical College). With more than 15,000 students it is one of the largest technical universities in the country. Having complied with the requirements, the institution was promoted to university status on 1 January 2010 under the name of Óbuda University.

The Lukács Thermal Bath (Hungarian: Szt. Lukács gyógyfürdő) is a historic indoor/outdoor thermal bath spa in Budapest, Hungary, heated by natural hot springs. All pools and four saunas can be used by all guests except for the optional area of the sauna world, which contains five more saunas, ice cooling pool, igloo and heated roman bench. There are also sauna nights on Fridays from 20:00 to 02:00.

The Columbo statue is a life-sized bronze work on Falk Miksa Street in Budapest depicting Peter Falk in the role of the fictional police detective Columbo. At the Columbo statue's feet is a statue of Columbo's dog, Dog. The statues, by the sculptor Géza Dezső Fekete, were put up in 2014 as part of a state-sponsored urban renewal project.Though Peter Falk and the street's namesake, 19th century Hungarian politician Miksa Falk, were both Jewish, and the actor Peter Falk had ancestors from Hungary, there is no known family relationship between them. The actor's Hungarian connection was not through the Falk family on his father's side, but through his maternal grandfather.
