Saint-Germain-Nuelles (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ ʒɛʁmɛ̃ nɥɛl]) is a commune in the Rhône department in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France. It is the result of the merger, on 1 January 2013, of the communes of Saint-Germain-sur-l'Arbresle and Nuelles.

Saint-Germain-sur-l'Arbresle (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ ʒɛʁmɛ̃ syʁ laʁbʁɛl], literally Saint-Germain on L'Arbresle) is a former commune in the Rhône department in Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France. On 1 January 2013, Saint-Germain-sur-l'Arbresle and Nuelles merged becoming one commune called Saint-Germain-Nuelles.

The Abbey of Saint-Martin de Savigny was a Benedictine monastery in the Archdiocese of Lyon. Nothing today survives of its buildings other than some stones in the Musée Lapidaire of Savigny-en-Lyonnais.It was founded by Leidradus after he resigned as bishop of Lyon in 816. The first mention of the abbey is in a charter of 817. It also appears in the Notitia de servitio monasteriorum of 819, where it is one of the monasteries owing only prayers (orationes) for the emperor and no other service.In 976, Conrad the Peaceful, King of Burgundy, confirmed the possessions and privileges of the abbey. In 1139, Bernard of Clairvaux wrote to Falco, archbishop of Lyon, indicating that Savigny was in conflict with the abbey of La Bénisson-Dieu over possessions in the Roannais. Bernard was writing in support of La Bénisson-Dieu because its abbot, Alberic, was one of his disciples.Savigny was eventually placed in commendam and lost its spiritual significance. In 1779, King Louis XVI ordered the closure of the abbey by letters patent. This was confirmed by Pius VI through a Papal bull on 22 June 1780. In 1784, the buildings were sold. The archives of the abbey are now part of the archives of the department of the Rhône.

L'Arbresle (French pronunciation: [laʁbʁɛl]) is a commune of the Rhône department, eastern France. Composer Claude Terrasse and inventor Barthélemy Thimonnier were born in L'Arbresle.

The Canton of L'Arbresle is a French administrative division, located in the Rhône department. The canton was established in 1790. Its boundaries are modified by decree of 27 February 2014 which came into force in March 2015.

Nuelles (French pronunciation: [nɥɛl]) is a former commune in the Rhône department in Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France. On 1 January 2013, Nuelles and Saint-Germain-sur-l'Arbresle merged becoming one commune called Saint-Germain-Nuelles.

Sainte Marie de La Tourette is a Dominican Order priory, located on a hillside near Lyon, France, designed by the architect Le Corbusier, the architect’s final building. The design of the building began in May 1953 and completed in 1961. The committee that decided the creation of the building considered that the primary duty of the monastery should be the spiritual awakening of the people and in particular the inhabitants of nearby areas. As a result, the monastery was constructed in Eveux-sur-Arbresle, which is just 25 km from Lyon and is accessible by train or car. In July 2016, the building and sixteen other works by Le Corbusier were inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites because of their outstanding testimony to the development of modern architecture.
