Stroxton

Royal Air Force Harlaxton or more simply RAF Harlaxton is a former Royal Air Force station near the village of Harlaxton, 3 mi (4.8 km) south west of Grantham, Lincolnshire, England. The airfield was located in a triangle of flat fields midway between Harlaxton Manor (now the University of Evansville's British campus) and the nearby village of Stroxton. Originally constructed as a Royal Flying Corps aerodrome in November 1916 it closed between the wars, reopening in 1942 as a Royal Air Force flying training establishment until its final closure in 1957. During the Second World War Harlaxton Manor was requisitioned by the Royal Air Force as the station's officers' mess and later to temporarily house the headquarters of the 1st Airborne Division.

Harlaxton Manor is a Victorian country house in Harlaxton, Lincolnshire, England. It was built for Gregory Gregory, a local squire and businessman. Gregory employed two of the leading architects of Victorian England, Anthony Salvin and William Burn and consulted a third, Edward Blore, during its construction. Its architecture, which combines elements of Jacobean and Elizabethan styles with Baroque decoration, makes it unique among England's Jacobethan houses. Harlaxton is a Grade I listed building on the National Heritage List for England, and many other structures on the estate are also listed. The surrounding park and gardens are listed Grade II* on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. It is now the British campus of the University of Evansville.

Little Ponton and Stroxton is a civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. According to the 2001 Census it had a population of 135 across 62 homes, increasing to 235 at the 2011 census. The civil parish contains the villages of Little Ponton and Stroxton, the Nature reserve of Woodnock Valley, The site of a Roman settlement, and part of the Roman road of Ermine Street (known locally as the High Dyke).

Gorse Lane is a cricket ground in Grantham, Lincolnshire. It was constructed from scratch when the London Road ground was sold to Safeway. Opened for junior cricket in 1991, the club began using the field a year later. Lincolnshire first played at the ground in the 1994 MCCA Knockout Trophy against Northumberland. The ground has held five MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. In 1996 they played their first Minor Counties Championship match at the ground against Cumberland. From 1996 to present, the ground has hosted 20 Minor Counties Championship matches.The ground has also held a single List-A match in the 2000 NatWest Trophy, which saw Lincolnshire play the Netherlands, a match which Lincolnshire won by 95 runs.The ground was scheduled to host its second List A match with a Royal London One Day Cup match between Nottinghamshire and Durham in the North Group on 3 May 2019 however the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent heavy rain and a wet outfield.Gorse Lane is the home ground of Grantham Cricket Club.

The Ponton Heath Barrow Cemetery is a group of at least eleven Middle Bronze Age round barrows south of Grantham, in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. Five of the barrows were destroyed by ironstone quarrying in 1959; the remaining six are scheduled monuments. The sites have been placed on the Heritage at Risk Register.

Great Ponton is an English village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, 3 miles (5 km) south of Grantham on the A1 trunk road, which bisects the village. The tower of the parish church is a roadside landmark. The 2001 census recorded a population of 333, of whom all were of white ethnic origin and 87 per cent described themselves as Christian. The average age was 40. The population of the civil parish had risen to 379 at the 2011 census. It was estimated at 369 in 2019.

Walton Academy, formerly Walton Girls' High School is a co-ed secondary school, in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England. It is situated in the south-west of the town near the A607 junction with the A1. The school accepts approximately 135 girls a year. In September 2019, the school saw its first boys enter in year 7, previously boys were only in the sixth form.

Ellys Manor House (pronounced "Ellis"), or the Old Rectory is a late-fifteenth to early sixteenth century manor house in Great Ponton, Lincolnshire, England. It was built by Anthony Ellys (or Ellis), a wool merchant, and member of the Staple of Calais, who also built the tower of the village church. The house was restored as a Rectory (it had previously been divided up as two cottages), by the Grantham architect Wilfred Bond. The house is now privately owned, but the house and garden are open to the public at certain times; it is a member of the Historic Houses Association.

West Kesteven was a rural district in Lincolnshire, Parts of Kesteven, England from 1931 to 1974. It was formed under a County Review Order, by the merger of most of the Grantham Rural District, part of the Sleaford Rural District and much of the Claypole Rural District. It was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, being merged into the new South Kesteven.

Little Ponton is a village in the civil parish of Little Ponton and Stroxton, in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It lies 2 miles (3 km) south of Grantham, about 60 metres (200 ft) above sea level.
