Old Swan is a Liverpool City Council Ward in the Liverpool Wavertree Parliamentary constituency. The boundary was changed for the 2004 Municipal elections losing a small area to the new Tuebrook and Stoneycroft ward and gaining part of the former Broadgreen ward.

St Edward's College, England is a co-educational Catholic school with academy status in the UK located in the Liverpool suburb of West Derby. Founded in 1853 as the Catholic Institute, the college was formerly a boys grammar school run by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, known widely as the Irish Christian Brothers. The school was converted from a Local education authority school to academy status on 1 September 2012.The current school building, located on West Derby Road, Liverpool, opened in September 2010, a single-sited school built under the Building Schools for the Future programme, having previously been based on two sites on Quarry and Bankfield roads.West Derby School is twinned with Gyanodaya Secondary School in Palpa, Nepal. After the April 2015 Nepal earthquake the school raised over £2000 to help with essential rebuilding work.

West Derby railway station was located on the North Liverpool Extension Line to the south of Mill Lane, West Derby, Liverpool, England. It opened on 1 December 1879. The station closed to passengers in November 1960 closing completely five years later. The line through the station site continued in use by freight trains until 1975, with the tracks being lifted in early 1979. The station was about 2 miles away from Croxteth Hall which was the home of Lord Sefton. The platforms are extant with the station building converted to a private residence and shop. The trackbed through the station site forms a part of the Trans Pennine Trail.

The Old Library, formerly known as Lister Drive Library, is a Grade II listed former Andrew Carnegie library in Tuebrook, Liverpool, England. Opening in June 1905, it is now used as a community centre and charity hub for childcare services and start-up businesses. The current tenants are Lister Steps.
