Couva

Camden Base is a small airstrip in Couva, Trinidad. Crop dusting aircraft use this airstrip; drag racing also takes place on the airstrip. The Camden (Field) Auxiliary Air Base was established in 1942 as an emergency airstrip. It included one paved 3,000 ft (910 m) x 75 ft (46 m) runway with extensive taxiways and dispersed camouflaged parking bays for USAAC, USN and RN. It was defended by US Army infantry and AAA units.On May 24, 2011, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, at the one-year anniversary celebratory rally marking the election of her coalition government to power, announced that the airstrip would be upgraded to a domestic airport to serve the Trinidad-Tobago airbridge. If successful, the airport would be upgraded to a full-scale international airport. If upgraded, the airport will be the third international airport on the islands after Piarco International Airport in Trinidad and the A.N.R. Robinson International Airport in Tobago.

Gilbert Park is a cricket and football ground in California, Trinidad and Tobago.

California is a neighbourhood located south of Downtown Couva, within the Couva–Tabaquite–Talparo regional corporation, Trinidad and Tobago. It is bordered on the west by the Point Lisas Industrial Estate and to the East by the University of Trinidad and Tobago (Point Lisas Campus). Dow Village and Esperanza Village are within California. Its football team are Central F.C.

The Ato Boldon Stadium is an athletics and football stadium located in Balmain, Couva, Trinidad and Tobago. It is currently the home ground of Central and Club Sando.

The National Cricket Centre is a cricket ground in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago, located near the Ato Boldon Stadium and the National Cycling Centre.

Point Lisas is a major industrial centre in Trinidad and Tobago and is host to the Point Lisas Industrial Estate and the Port of Point Lisas, both of which are managed by Plipdeco (the Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Company). Point Lisas is located in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago and on the Gulf of Paria coastline. The Point Lisas Industrial Estate is home to a majority of the heavy industry in Trinidad and Tobago particularly in the downstream energy sector. Industries located there include a steel mill (owned by ArcelorMittal); numerous ammonia plants and methanol plants, melamine manufacturing plants, a urea manufacturing plant; a natural gas to liquids processing facility and it is the site of two power stations and a large reverse osmosis water desalination plant. Most of the industry located at Point Lisas is dependent on natural gas which is produced off the east coast of Trinidad and transported by pipeline across the island. ArcelorMittal Point Lisas is the largest steelmaker in the Caribbean and the largest non-oil industrial complex in Trinidad and Tobago. It is a fully integrated mini-mill, using internally produced high-quality direct reduced iron (DRI) to manufacture billets and a wide range of medium to high quality grades of wire rods. ArcelorMittal Point Lisas uses approximately 90 per cent DRI and 10 per cent scrap as its metallic input. The Port of Point Lisas is the second largest port in the country and is a major cargo port. It also serves the heavy industry located in the area. Point Lisas is administered by the Couva–Tabaquite–Talparo Regional Corporation.

Freeport is a town in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It is located in west-central Trinidad, and is administered by the Couva–Tabaquite–Talparo Regional Corporation. It has a population of 11,850. The estimated terrain elevation above sea level is 27 metres.

Carapichaima is a town in central Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago. Communities and villages in Carapichaima include Orangefield, Waterloo, Brickfield, and Korea Village.

The Indian Caribbean Museum of Trinidad and Tobago is a museum in Waterloo, Carapichaima, Trinidad and Tobago. It is dedicated to preserving the history of Indo-Caribbean culture. It is housed in the Waterloo Carnegie Library, near the Temple in the Sea. The museum, founded in 2006, then was the first of its kind in the Caribbean.

Chickland is a village in the foothills of Central Trinidad, north of the world-renowned cocoa growing region Gran Couva and south-east of one of the earliest settlement areas for freed slaves Freeport. One of the featured sites in Chickland was the Ajoupa Pottery, which produced intricate and colourful ceramic pieces, such as tables and vanity vases that appear in hotels and villas throughout T&T and the Caribbean. Other nearby attractions include the Temple in the Sea and Hanuman, the tallest statue of a Hindu deity outside of India, which is located in Waterloo. One of the oldest structures in Chickland is the Chickland RC Primary School, which is still operational. On Saturday evenings, it is quickly converted into a church, with evening mass for the congregation. The population in Chickland is multi-cultural and very diverse. Every major festival and holiday is celebrated. It is a simple village where everyone knows everyone. Many generations of the same families have settled on the surrounding lands, which contributes to the homely atmosphere and spirit of the village life. Farming and gardening is still an integral part of the village life in Chickland. Visitors to Chickland could see the hills being cultivated with corns, vegetables and fruits trees. There a very little evidence of old life of harvesting sugar-cane, cocoa, coffee and tobacco. Goats and cows can be seen roaming freely, even on the roadside.

The Temple in the Sea, officially known as the Sewdass Sadhu Shiva Mandir, is a Hindu mandir in Waterloo, Carapichaima, Couva–Tabaquite–Talparo, Trinidad and Tobago. Sewdass Sadhu, an indentured laborer from India, constructed the original temple in the Gulf of Paria in 1952. The temple was reconstructed by Randolph Rampersad and reopened in 1995.

Claxton Bay is a community in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It is located in Central Trinidad, south of Couva and Chaguanas and north of San Fernando and is administered by the Couva–Tabaquite–Talparo Regional Corporation. Olympic cyclist Hylton Mitchell was born here.
