Villa Pisani, Bagnolo

The Certosa di Pontignano (Pontignano Charterhouse), also known as the Certosa di San Pietro, is a Carthusian monastery and church in the neighborhood of Pontignano, within the town limits of Castelnuovo Berardenga, a few kilometers north of the city of Siena, in the region of Tuscany, Italy. The monastic complex, after the expulsion of the monks in 1810, passed through various hands, until it was acquired in 1959 by the University of Siena, and used for academic meetings, conventions, and also hotel and restaurant for events such as weddings and celebrations.

Zimella is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verona in the Italian region Veneto, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) west of Venice and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southeast of Verona. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 4,626 and an area of 20.1 square kilometres (7.8 sq mi).The municipality of Zimella contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) S. Stefano (capoluogo), Zimella, and Bonaldo e Volpino. Zimella borders the following municipalities: Arcole, Cologna Veneta, Lonigo, and Veronella.

Cologna Veneta is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verona in the Italian region Veneto, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) west of Venice and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southeast of Verona. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 8,207 and an area of 43.0 square kilometres (16.6 sq mi).The municipality of Cologna Veneta contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Baldaria, Sabbion, Sant'Andrea, Spessa, and San Sebastiano. Cologna Veneta borders the following municipalities: Asigliano Veneto, Lonigo, Orgiano, Poiana Maggiore, Pressana, Roveredo di Guà, Veronella, and Zimella.

Rocca Pisana is a 16-century patrician villa in the comune of Lonigo, province of Vicenza, northern Italy, designed by the architect Vincenzo Scamozzi for the Pisani family. In Italy there are several villas called Villa Pisani, which take their name from this powerful Venetian family. This villa is also known as "La Rocca" or "La Rocca Pisana". Lonigo is also the home of Palladio's Villa Pisani (Bagnolo). Dominating a hill-top site, the exterior of Rocca Pisana shows the influence of Palladio's Villa Capra "La Rotonda", but has differences, for example, the recessed portico. The internal layout is different from Villa Rotonda. Rocca Pisana itself has been imitated, e.g. at Nuthall Temple, and possibly, for the octagonal dome at Chiswick House.

Veronella is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verona in the Italian region Veneto, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) west of Venice and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southeast of Verona. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,946 and an area of 20.8 square kilometres (8.0 sq mi).The municipality of Veronella contains the frazione (subdivision) San Gregorio. Veronella borders the following municipalities: Albaredo d'Adige, Arcole, Belfiore, Bonavigo, Cologna Veneta, Minerbe, Pressana, and Zimella.

Sarego is a town and comune in the province of Vicenza, Veneto, north-eastern Italy. It is 20 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of Vicenza. SP500 goes through the town of Sarego.

Villa Arnaldi is an historical edifice in Meledo di Sarego, Province of Vicenza, northern Italy, designed by Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio in 1547. It remains unfinished. The modest, incomplete Villa Arnaldi may seem like an unusual candidate for the list of Palladio's villas. It provides evidence, however, of the process usually only visible in final results, the transformation of a pre-existing building into a new architectural style. In 1547, Vincenzo Arnaldi, one of Vicenza's richest and most influential citizens, commissioned the architect Andrea Palladio to restructure the 15th century (Quattrocento) agricultural complex upon its acquisition. Arnaldi wished to improve the property in order to increase its value in a legal action with one of its previous owners. However, when Arnaldi reached an agreement in 1565, he stopped the reconstruction and simply rented it out. A series of signed drawings allow us to follow the architect's ideas for remodelling the irregular Quattrocento complex. He proposed reconfiguring the buildings into regular shapes to define its farmyard and creating a symmetry within the spatial layout of the house. He organized the house itself around a loggia with three arches and minor, rectangular openings on its flanks (still extant though now blocked), and framed its windows with his usual mouldings.

Villa Trissino is an incomplete patrician villa designed by Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, situated in the hamlet of Meledo in the comune of Sarego in the Veneto, north-eastern Italy. It was intended for the brothers Ludovico and Francesco Trissino. It is not to be confused with Villa Trissino at Cricoli, which is 20 km away, just outside Vicenza.

Arcole (pronounced [ˈarkole]), historically also known as Arcola, is a comune with 5,274 inhabitants in the province of Verona. It is known as the site of the Battle of the Bridge of Arcole.

The Battle of Arcole or Battle of Arcola (15–17 November 1796) was fought between French and Austrian forces 25 kilometres (16 mi) southeast of Verona during the War of the First Coalition, a part of the French Revolutionary Wars. The battle saw a bold maneuver by Napoleon Bonaparte's French Army of Italy to outflank the Austrian army led by József Alvinczi and cut off its line of retreat. The French victory proved to be a highly significant event during the third Austrian attempt to lift the siege of Mantua. Alvinczi planned to execute a two-pronged offensive against Bonaparte's army. The Austrian commander ordered Paul Davidovich to advance south along the Adige River valley with one corps while Alvinczi led the main army in an advance from the east. The Austrians hoped to raise the siege of Mantua where Dagobert Sigmund von Wurmser was trapped with a large garrison. If the two Austrian columns linked up and if Wurmser's troops were released, French prospects were grim. Davidovich scored a victory against Claude-Henri Belgrand de Vaubois at Calliano and threatened Verona from the north. Meanwhile, Alvinczi repulsed one attack by Bonaparte at Bassano and advanced almost to the gates of Verona where he defeated a second French attack at Caldiero. Leaving Vaubois' battered division to contain Davidovich, Bonaparte massed every available man and tried to turn Alvinczi's left flank by crossing the Adige. For two days the French assaulted the stoutly defended Austrian position at Arcole without success. Their persistent attacks finally forced Alvinczi to withdraw on the third day. That day Davidovich routed Vaubois, but it was too late. Bonaparte's victory at Arcole permitted him to concentrate against Davidovich and chase him up the Adige valley. Left alone, Alvinczi threatened Verona again. But without his colleague's support, the Austrian commander was too weak to continue the campaign and he withdrew again. Wurmser attempted a breakout, but his effort came too late in the campaign and had no effect on the result. The third relief attempt failed by the narrowest of margins.
