The Zinsel du Nord (German: Nördliche Zinsel, also Moderbach), also called the North Zinsel or Northern Zinsel in English, is a left tributary of the river Moder, which is 43 kilometres (27 mi) long from the source of the Moderbach stream. The Zinsel du Nord and its tributaries drain northwest in the North Vosges, especially in the Pays de Bitche in the east of the department of Moselle. Its catchment area is 339 square kilometres (131 sq mi).

Goetzenbruck or Gœtzenbruck (French pronunciation: [ɡœtsənbʁyk]; German: Götzenbrück; Lorraine Franconian: Getzebrikk) is a commune in the Moselle department of the Grand Est administrative region in north-eastern France. The village belongs to the Pays de Bitche and to the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park. As of the 2013 France census, the village's population is 1,608. The inhabitants of the commune are known as Goetzenbruckois and Goetzenbruckoises. The present municipality of Goetzenbruck was originally divided into three municipalities. They underwent several changes before the two remaining municipalities of Goetzenbruck and Sarreinsberg merged in 1947 (the latter had already merged with the third municipality, Althorn, back in 1837).

It is the oldest glass manufacturer in France with roots dating back to 1586 and the first crystal glass manufacturer in continental Europe (1781). The Musée du cristal Saint-Louis exhibits 4 centuries of technical developments and artistic creations of the Saint-Louis factory. It is housed in one of the production halls of the factory, in Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche.

The village is famous for its Saint-Louis Glass Manufacture, as it is the oldest glass manufacturer in France with roots dating back to 1586 and the first crystal glass manufacturer in continental Europe (1781).

Bitche ( BEECH, French: [bitʃ]; German and Lorraine Franconian: Bitsch) is a commune in the Moselle department, administrative region of Grand Est, northeastern France. It is the Pays de Bitche's capital city and the seat of the Canton of Bitche and the communauté de communes du Pays de Bitche. The town belongs to the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park and is rated 4-flowers at the towns and villages in bloom competition. The town's population at the 2013 census was 5,225. The inhabitants of the commune are known as Bitchois and Bitchoises. The town is known for its large citadel originating from a castle built at the beginning of the 13th century. The fortress is noted for its resistance during the Franco-Prussian War. Louis-Casimir Teyssier, its commander and chief, held the place for about eight months with 3,000 men against about 20,000 Prussian and Bavarian soldiers until the French government ordered him to surrender after the ceasefire in 1871. The town became part of Germany after that date until the end of the First World War, when it was given back to France. During the Second World War it was annexed by the Third German Reich (1940–1944).
