Hambach, Moselle

Smartville is a purpose-built factory complex in Hambach, France, established in 1994 as a joint venture of Daimler-Benz and the Swiss watch manufacturer Swatch to produce the Smart car. In 2020 the plant was 100% owned by Daimler AG (at that point comprising both the Mercedes-Benz and Daimler Truck companies) and was taken over by Ineos for production of the Ineos Grenadier 4x4. The "Smartville" production site in Hambach (France) with its 2,000 workers was among the most modern automobile production plants. It had been built for 450 million Euros and started production in 1998. In order to achieve optimized production processes the plant is arranged in the shape of a cross; in each of its four extensions different assembly works are provided. The centre, the so-called market place, serves as a test room for completed vehicles and for refinishing operations. The centre is multi-storied; thereby all the administrative, IT and changing rooms could be implemented in one central place. Approximately 1,300 jobs would be safeguarded following the purchase by Ineos.

The canton of Sarreguemines-Campagne (French: Canton de Sarreguemines-Campagne) is a former French canton located in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region (now part of Grand Est). It was one of the rare French cantons whose capital was not located in the canton. It is now part of the canton of Sarreguemines. The last general councillor from this canton was Jean Karmann (DVD), elected in 1998.

Communauté d'agglomération Sarreguemines Confluences is the communauté d'agglomération, an intercommunal structure, centred on the town of Sarreguemines. It is located in the Moselle and Bas-Rhin departments, in the Grand Est region, northeastern France. Founded in 1999 and modified by the RCT law in 2010, its seat is in Sarreguemines. Its area is 340.5 km2. Its population was 64,271 in 2019, of which 20,635 in Sarreguemines proper.

The Gare de Sarreguemines (German: Bahnhof Saargemünd) is a railway station near the French/German border on the Haguenau–Hargarten-Falck and the Saarbrücken–Sarreguemines lines, located in the town of Sarreguemines in the French department of Moselle. It was opened in 1865 by the Chemins de fer de l'Est. It is now a station of the SNCF, served by regional express trains of the TER Grand Est. The border station is served by regional services running between Saarbrücken and Strasbourg. It is also served by the Saarbahn tram-train service.

Sarreguemines (French pronunciation: [saʁɡəmin]; German: Saargemünd [zaːɐ̯ɡəˈmʏnt] , Lorraine Franconian: Saargemìnn) is a commune in the Moselle department of the Grand Est administrative region in north-eastern France. It is the seat of an arrondissement and a canton. As of 2020, the town's population was 20,555. The inhabitants of the commune are known as Sarregueminois and Sarregueminoises in French.
