The Madon (French pronunciation: [madɔ̃]) is a 96.9-kilometre (60.2 mi) long river in the Vosges and Meurthe-et-Moselle départements, northeastern France. Its source is near Vioménil. It flows generally north. It is a left tributary of the Moselle into which it flows at Pont-Saint-Vincent, near Nancy.

Neuves-Maisons (French pronunciation: [nœv mɛzɔ̃], literally New Houses) is a commune in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in North-Eastern France, on the banks of the Moselle. The city had a great steel industry during the 19th and 20th century. Neuves-Maisons erected a plaque in the memory of Émilie Busquant, a feminist, anarcho-syndicalist and an anti-colonial activist born in the area, on the fiftieth anniversary of her death in 2003. A 2015 documentary by director Rabah Zanoun introduced a French audience to her forgotten story.

The canton of Neuves-Maisons is an administrative division of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department, northeastern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Neuves-Maisons.It consists of the following communes:

Messein (French pronunciation: [mesɛ̃]) is a commune in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in north-eastern France.

Frolois (French pronunciation: [fʁɔlwa]) is a commune in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in north-eastern France. It is the site of the former fortified castle of Acraignes. The counts of Vaudémont were the first owners of Frolois, from the 13th century. The castle passed through numerous hands; Nicolas de Haraucourt acquired it in 1553; at the beginning of the 18th century it was rebuilt by Anne-Marie-Joseph de Lorraine-Harcourt, prince de Guise; after the revolution the castle was sold as a national asset in 1795. No remains can be seen today. On 10–11 September 1944, the bridge across the river Moselle near the commune was the site of a fierce battle between American soldiers of the 134th Infantry Regiment and German soldiers of the 15th Panzergrenadier Division.

The École Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie et des Industries Alimentaires (ENSAIA) is a French engineering school located in Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy near Nancy in the Meurthe-et-Moselle département that specialises in biological and agricultural engineering. Students can enter the school in different ways, but the most common is by a two-year preparation class.
