Écija (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈeθixa]) is a city and municipality of Spain belonging to the province of Seville, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is in the countryside, 85 km east of the city of Seville. According to the 2008 census, Écija had a total population of 40,100 inhabitants, ranking as the fifth most populous municipality in the province. The river Genil, the main tributary of the river Guadalquivir, runs through the city. The economy of Écija is based on agriculture (olives, cereals and vegetables), cattle (cows and horses) and textile industry. The most distinctive feature of the urban landscape of Écija are the city's Baroque bell towers.

The Battle of Écija (Arabic: معركة الدونونية) was a battle of the Spanish Reconquista that took place in September 1275. The battle pitted the Muslim troops of the Nasrid Emirate of Granada and its Moroccan allies against those of the Kingdom of Castile and resulted in a victory for the Emirate of Granada.

Convento de la Santísima Trinidad y Purísima Concepción (Écija)

Convento de la Santísima Trinidad y Purísima Concepción (Convent of the Holy Trinity and Immaculate Conception) is located in Écija, Province of Seville, Spain. It is governed by the Franciscan Conceptionists. Popularly known as Marroquies, it is located a few meters from the Iglesia de la Limpia Concepción de Nuestra Señora. In 1582, the Marroquí sisters, Luisa, Catalina, Ana and Francisca, descendants of one of the oldest families of Ecija, decided to found a monastery of nuns. The blessing of the new church and convent complex occurred on May 21, 1596. It was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural site on November 17, 2009. The simple structure contains its original angular belfry and a collection of paintings, altarpieces, sculptures, and jewelry, featuring Moorish and Andalusian Baroque art.

Real Monasterio de Santa Inés del Valle (Écija)

Real Monasterio de Santa Inés del Valle (Royal Monastery of Saint Agnes of the Valley) is located in Écija, Province of Seville, Spain. The convent is served by Poor Clares. Founded in the late 15th century, its church is designed in Baroque style and dates to the early 17th century. Reports in 2002 stated that the building was in serious disrepair.
