Beerse (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbeːrsə] ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Beerse proper and Vlimmeren. In 2021, Beerse had a total population of 18,194. The total area is 37.48 km2 (14.5 sq mi). The pharmaceutical company Janssen Pharmaceutica, founded by Dr. Paul Janssen, has its headquarters in Beerse.

The Arrondissement of Turnhout (Dutch: Arrondissement Turnhout; French: Arrondissement de Turnhout) is one of the three administrative arrondissements in the Province of Antwerp, Belgium. It is both an administrative and a judicial arrondissement. The territory of the Judicial Arrondissement of Turnhout coincides with that of the Administrative Arrondissement of Turnhout and part of the Campine region.

St Joseph College (Dutch: Sint-Jozefcollege) is a Roman Catholic secondary school in Turnhout, Belgium. It was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1845 and was rebuilt in the same style as Xaverius College in Borgerhout.

The Campus Blairon is a business incubator, education site, local government site, medical post and a seminar centre located in Turnhout in the campine region of the Antwerp province (Belgium). Both the Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen and the Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen are located on the Campus.

Gierle is a village of about 4,428 inhabitants in the Antwerp Province in Flanders, Belgium. It is part of the municipality of Lille. Characterised by its 19th-century village centre, which has an unusual circular shape, it is more known for its recreation park called "De Lilse Bergen" and its festival called "Sjock". A famous inhabitant of Gierle was Louis Neefs, who was the Belgian contestant for the Eurovision Song Contest twice. He has a statue in the centre of Gierle. Another famous inhabitant is Walter Meeuws, a retired football player who played for a few clubs in the Belgian first division and also for AFC Ajax. He has 46 caps for the Belgian national team and was in the squad of UEFA Euro 1980 where they reached the final. After his playing career, he has been a coach for teams all over the world. Through history, Gierle was connected to the neighbouring village Tielen because they shared both lord and priest.

Merksplas (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈmɛr(ə)ksplɑs]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises only the town of Merksplas proper. In 2021, Merksplas had a total population of 8,616. The total area is 44.56 km².

Turnhout (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈtʏr(ə)nɦʌut]) is a Belgian municipality and city located in the Flemish province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises only the city of Turnhout proper. In 2021, its population was 45,874. The total area is 56.06 km2 (21.64 sq mi). The agglomeration is much more populous, with 81,473 inhabitants. It is known for its playing card industry, and houses the head office of the world's largest manufacturer of playing cards, Cartamundi. Turnhout is also the capital of the administrative district with the same name. The city council often promotes the city as "the capital of the Kempen area". This designation is entirely unofficial, since the Kempen area is far larger than the Turnhout district and does not form an administrative unit. Turnhout serves as the economic and cultural center for other communities in the immediate vicinity with more than 40 schools. There is also an important services sector with two hospitals, a two-stage theatre, an eight-screen cinema and one of the largest cultural centres of Belgium. Turnhout is located at about 51.3 North and 4.9 East, 42 km (26 mi) from the centre of Antwerp, 30 km (19 mi) from Breda and Tilburg, 40 km (25 mi) from Eindhoven. The football club of the city is K.V. Turnhout.

The Battle of Turnhout (27 October 1789) was a decisive military engagement between Belgian revolutionary and Austrian forces at Turnhout in the Austrian Netherlands (modern-day Belgium). It was the first engagement of the Brabant Revolution and took place shortly after the revolutionary (patriot) army of Jean-André van der Mersch crossed the border from the Dutch Republic where it had previously been in exile. Their unlikely victory in the engagement led to the rapid collapse of Austrian rule across the Southern Netherlands and the temporary withdrawal of Austrian forces in the region to Luxembourg.

Tielen is a village in the province of Antwerp in Flanders, Belgium. It is part of the municipality of Kasterlee. The nearest city is the neighbouring city of Turnhout. Other neighbouring towns are Vosselaar, Lichtaart, Poederlee, Lille and Gierle. The borders of Tielen are marked by two rivers: The Aa and the Kaliebeek. Almost one third of the village is still covered with pine-woods, heath and swamps. Typical for the Kempen area. The rest of this 1,371-hectare (5.29 sq mi) village is mostly used for residential and agricultural purposes.
