Lawrence Technological University (Lawrence Tech, LTU) is a private university in Southfield, Michigan. It was founded in 1932 in Highland Park, Michigan, as the Lawrence Institute of Technology (LIT) by Russell E. Lawrence. The university moved to Southfield in 1955 and has since expanded to 107 acres (43 ha). The campus also includes the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Affleck House in Bloomfield Hills. The university offers associate, undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs through its five colleges.

The Southfield Town Center is a cluster of five interconnected skyscrapers forming a contemporary 2,200,000-square-foot (204,400 m2) office complex in the Detroit suburb of Southfield, Michigan. It includes the Westin Southfield Detroit Hotel, restaurants, a fitness center, and a major conference center for up to 1,000 attendees. This office-hotel complex is situated along Town Center Drive off M-10 (Lodge Freeway), across from Lawrence Technological University in Metro Detroit, with many of its tallest buildings named after their addresses along the road. Separately, there is a 33-story luxury residential high-rise at 5000 Town Center. The American Center, another 26-story office tower near the confluence of Interstate 696 (I-696) and M-10, is not part of the complex. The Town Center is across from the Civic Centre, and it is located between West 10 Mile Road and I-696, M-10, and Evergreen Road, as well as being close to the Mixing Bowl. An enclosed two-story garden atrium connects the hotel with the towers of the Southfield Town Center. The atrium area also contains 94,000 square feet (8,700 m2) of retail space.

Plumbrooke Estates, also known as Plum Hollow Estates, is a residential historic district located along Plumbrooke Drive north of Nine Mile Road and west of Evergreen Road in Southfield, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.

Southfield is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. An inner-ring suburb of Detroit, Southfield borders Detroit to the north, lying roughly 15 miles (24.1 km) northwest of downtown Detroit. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 76,618.Southfield is notable as the home of multiple business districts, including the Southfield City Centre (an edge city which contains the tallest building in Detroit's suburbs) and the area surrounding the former Northland Center shopping mall. It is also home to Lawrence Technological University. The city was originally part of Southfield Township before incorporating in 1958. The autonomous city of Lathrup Village is an enclave within Southfield.

Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology is a public high school located in Southfield, Michigan. The school was founded in 1951. It serves grades 9–12 for the Southfield Public Schools.

WSHJ (88.3 FM) is a high school radio station broadcasting an Urban Contemporary format. Licensed to Southfield, Michigan it first began broadcasting in 1967.

The Southfield Public Library is a public library in Southfield, Michigan. The library serves the communities of Southfield and Lathrup Village.

The Southfield Pavilion is a convention center in Southfield, Michigan. It was built in 1978. The pavilion features 28,152 square feet (2,615 m2) of space and can seat up to 2,000 for banquets, lectures and other special events. Adjacent are seven meeting rooms seating up to 250.

The Islamic American University (Arabic: الجامعة الإسلامية الأمريكيّة) is located in Southfield, Michigan. They offer correspondence and online courses.

Plum Hollow Country Club is a country club located in Southfield, Michigan, a suburb northwest of Detroit The club is privately owned and was established in 1921. Plum Hollow was designed by architects Harry Colt and Charles Hugh Alison of the British firm Colt and Alison. The PGA Championship was held at its golf course in 1947; then a match play event, it was won by Jim Ferrier. Plum Hollow also hosted the 1957 Western Open which was won by Doug Ford, and also hosted the 2015 Michigan Amateur. The club is currently managed by PGA Pro Richard Burkardt.

The 1947 PGA Championship was the 29th PGA Championship, held June 18–24 at Plum Hollow Country Club in Southfield, Michigan, a suburb northwest of Detroit. Jim Ferrier won the match play championship, 2 & 1 over Chick Harbert in the Tuesday final; the winner's share was $3,500 and the runner-up's was $1,500. The match was tied after the first round, and again after 22 holes. Ferrier won the next three and local resident Harbert could get no closer than two holes down for the rest of the match. It was the only major title for Ferrier, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Australia. Defending champion Ben Hogan was defeated 3 & 1 in the first round by Toney Penna, who was seven-under for the 17 holes, but then lost in the next round. Jimmy Demaret earned $250 as the medalist in the stroke play qualifier at 137 (−7), but was also eliminated in the first round. Sam Snead lost in the second round to three-time champion Gene Sarazen. Hogan regained the title the next year. The last three majors were held within several weeks in 1947: the U.S. Open was concluded several days earlier in St. Louis, Missouri. Lew Worsham defeated Sam Snead by a stroke in an 18-hole playoff on Sunday, June 15. The British Open was played the first week of July in England. This was the first PGA Championship scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, which continued through 1956. Two-time champion Byron Nelson did not compete; his final PGA Championship was the previous year.
