New Royals Stadium is a proposed baseball stadium to be constructed in Kansas City, Missouri. It will be home to the Kansas City Royals of MLB. It will have a capacity of 34,000. Opening is planned for 2028. It will be owned by Jackson County, Missouri.

South Loop Park is a 5.5-acre (2.2 ha) public park under construction in Kansas City, Missouri. The project involves building a structural deck, or lid, above a four-block section of the below-grade Interstate 670 (I-670) to create what its designers describe as a multi-functional, highly programmed urban green space. Its stated purpose is to reconnect the city's Central Business District with the Crossroads Arts District, addressing a significant urban divide created by the highway's construction in the late 1960s according to the controversial nationwide Urban Renewal era. Project leaders estimate the total cost between US$200 million and $217.2 million. It is financed through a public-private partnership that combines federal, state, and municipal funding with private contributions. The project is a collaboration between the City of Kansas City, the Downtown Council of Kansas City, and Port KC. It was designed by the same company that did Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, with plans for programmed event spaces, inclusive play areas, and gardens. The park was officially named Roy Blunt Luminary Park on April 11, 2025, after former U.S. Senator Roy Blunt for his role in securing $28.6 million in federal funding. After a federal environmental review concluded with a Finding of No Significant Impact, the project was cleared for construction. An original goal to finish the park before Kansas City hosts 2026 FIFA World Cup matches was delayed by the regulatory process, and the revised plan focuses on completing the foundational deck structure before the event.

T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center) is a multi-purpose arena in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. It is located at the intersection of 14th Street and Grand Boulevard on the east side of the Power & Light District. It has effectively become the city's primary indoor arena, a role previously held by Kemper Arena, which had been built in 1974 a few miles away in the West Bottoms neighborhood.

It was designed by architect Louis Curtiss and served as his studio. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1972.Curtiss died in 1924 at his studio residence in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

The College Basketball Experience is a 41,500-square-foot (3,860 m2) fan-interactive facility located downtown in Kansas City, Missouri, which includes the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. It cost $24 million to build, was opened in October 2007, and is owned and operated by the National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation.

The National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, located in Kansas City, Missouri, is a hall of fame and museum dedicated to men's college basketball. The museum is an integral portion of the College Basketball Experience created by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), located at the T-Mobile Center. The hall is meant as a complement to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, with a focus strictly on those who have contributed greatly to college basketball. On November 17, 2006 the NABC honored around 180 players, coaches and other notable contributors to college basketball by inducting them into the founding class of the Hall of Fame. Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell, Dean Smith, John Wooden, and the family of James Naismith, were selected to represent the inaugural class.The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts has indicated it will help with the exhibits. The other interactive portions of the College Basketball Experience are called 'The Entry Experience,' 'The Fan Experience,' and 'The Game.' The NABC recently renamed the Guardians Classic college tournament the CBE Classic to help promote it.

The Mainstreet Theater, also commonly referred to as The Empire Theater, is a historic theater in downtown Kansas City, Missouri in the Power & Light District. The theater was landmarked and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in February 2007.

The Kansas City Star is a newspaper based in Kansas City, Missouri. Published since 1880, the paper is the recipient of eight Pulitzer Prizes. The Star is most notable for its influence on the career of President Harry S. Truman and as the newspaper where a young Ernest Hemingway honed his writing style. The paper is the major newspaper of the Kansas City metropolitan area and has widespread circulation in western Missouri and eastern Kansas.

On January 5, 1935, a man who had given his name as Roland T. Owen, later identified as Artemus Ogletree, died at a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, United States from beating and stabbing injuries. His death was preceded by a two-day stay in Room 1046 at the Hotel President in what is now the city's Power & Light District marked by communication with someone named "Don", and unusual behavior and incidents noted by the hotel's staff, before he was found wounded in his room the morning of his death. When no next of kin could be located, leading to suspicions that his name was an alias, his body was stored in a local funeral parlor for almost two months. A planned burial in the city's potter's field was averted when an anonymous donor provided funds for a funeral and a floral arrangement signed "Louise". The man's true identity remained unknown for a year and a half until Ruby Ogletree, an Alabama woman who had seen a photo of a distinctive scar on his head in the news, identified him as her son Artemus. She said he had left Birmingham in 1934 at the age of 17 to hitchhike to California. Later she received two letters purportedly from him, some from as far away as Egypt. In August 1935, a caller claiming to be from Memphis, Tennessee told her that Artemus was in Cairo. The letters had also been sent after Artemus' death. Records kept by shipping companies found no records that Ogletree had gone to Egypt. No other suspect has ever been identified. The letters later were used to link the killing to a 1937 murder in New York, but no charges were filed against the man arrested in that case, one of whose aliases had been "Donald Kelso". The FBI later investigated but was unable to produce any new leads. In 2012, a historian at the Kansas City Public Library wrote two posts on the library's blog about the case. At the end of the last one he revealed that in 2003 or 2004, he had taken a call from someone out of state related to the case. The caller said that they had been helping to inventory the belongings of a recently deceased elderly person when they found a box with newspaper clippings about the Ogletree case and an item mentioned repeatedly in the stories, but they refused to say what that item was. The Kansas City police continue to investigate.

The Hotel President, formerly the President Hotel, is a historic hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. It is now operated as the Hilton President Kansas City by Jury Hotel Group of Overland Park Kansas, and is located at 1327-35 Baltimore Avenue.

The Jenkins Music Company Building is a historic building in the Kansas City Power and Light District in Kansas City, Missouri. Built in 1911, it is a significant example of unaltered, Modernistic style commercial architecture, combining Late Gothic Revival and Art Deco decorative elements. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.The building was constructed in two phases. A six-story building, built in 1911-12, was enlarged in 1931-1932 with an eight-story, south unit. As part of the enlargement, two additional stories were added atop the 1911-1912 unit. The building, constructed on level grade, faces west onto Walnut Street. Modernistic in style, the building is an amalgam of Late Gothic Revival and Art Deco design elements. The most ornate area of the building's exterior; is the west facade, with embellishments and eighth story step-backs creating a strong vertical and rectilinear effect.The building is currently controlled by Kansas City-based real estate firm Copaken Brooks and is planned to be used as a mixed commercial and residential property sometime in the future.
