The Everglades Correctional Institution (also ECI) is a Level 5 security prison facility for adult males in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, in the state of Florida, near Miami. Originally planned as a mental health facility, it was converted to a major Correctional institution in 1995.The Total Staff is 302 (as of July 2012) and has a Maximum Inmate Capacity of 1,788. In 2022, Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin recorded the album Kingdom Book One at the facility, with 1,300 inmates participating in the recording. The album aimed to spotlight the injustices around mass incarceration in the United States.

John A. Ferguson Senior High School is a certified magnet and academy high school located at 15900 SW 56th Street in Kendall West, Florida, United States (Miami postal address). This Miami-Dade County public school mainly serves the outer portion of Kendall West, a suburb of Miami. The school's principal was Rafael Villalobos from 2003 to 2021, and Wendy Barnett since 2021.Construction began on Ferguson in March 2002. It was built to alleviate overcrowding at G. Holmes Braddock High School and Felix Varela High School, which had reached populations of over 5,000 students. Classes began in summer 2003 hosting only a freshman class. For the first three nine-week periods, students were housed at G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School. John A. Ferguson High School now has one of the highest student populations in Florida, at over 4,255. The school is named after a local clergyman who graduated from Carver Senior High School in 1941 and served with the United States Navy for 21 years during World War II and the Korean War.

WWFE has a Spanish language talk radio format, with an emphasis on Cuban news and music. The radio studios and offices are on SW 27th Avenue in Miami.By day, WWFE is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM stations. Because 670 AM is a United States clear channel frequency, WWFE must reduce nighttime power to 1,000 watts to prevent interference to the skywave signal of WSCR in Chicago, which is the principal Class A station on 670 AM. (The other Class A station on this frequency is KDLG in Dillingham, Alaska.) WWFE broadcasts from a directional antenna at all times, with a six-tower array used at night. In July 1989 (1989-07), WWFE signed on the air.Effective January 10, 2023, WWFE was purchased by Salem Media Group along with WWFE’s FM translator W276DV (103.1), WRHC (1550) and its FM translator W254DV (98.7).
