Llyswen

Boughrood and Llyswen railway station, in Boughrood Powys, Wales, was opened on 21 September 1864 by the Mid-Wales Railway as Boughrood Station, although excursions ran on 19 September and 20 September. It became Boughrood and Llyswen station on 1 October 1912 while under the ownership of the Cambrian Railways. On a single track main line, it had a passing loop with platforms on either side and a signal box at the northern end of the platform to Moat Lane Junction. The station closed on 31 December 1962.

Boughrood (Welsh: Bochrwyd) is a village in the community of Glasbury in Powys, Wales. Historically in Radnorshire, the village is situated near the River Wye between Hay-on-Wye and Builth Wells. The River Wye passes to the west and north of the village, and a bridge connects Boughrood to Llyswen, a small village south of the river. The village's church, St Cynog's, was built in 1854 on the site of a medieval graveyard. In 2004 the church had a new spire built, to replace one that was declared unsafe and demolished in the 1970s. The first wedding under the new spire took place on 10 June 2006. In the grounds of the church is The Dead house which is the only surviving Parish Mortuary in Wales.Thomas Bingham, Baron Bingham of Cornhill (1933–2010), an eminent judge and jurist, is buried at St Cynog's. Boughrood Castle was in the village, by the 19th century only a moat and part of a wall survived, however a house also called Boughrood Castle was built on the site.Boughrood and Llyswen railway station, on the Mid-Wales Railway, was closed by British Railways in 1962. Boughrood hosts the annual Llyswen & Boughrood Agricultural Show - it is usually held on the 3rd Saturday in August.

Boughrood Brest (Welsh Brest Bochrwyd) is a settlement in Glasbury-on-Wye, Powys, Wales, which is 39 miles (62 km) from Cardiff and 138 miles (222 km) from London. It lies close to the banks of the River Wye, between Boughrood itself and Glasbury.

Llangoed Hall is a country house hotel, near the village of Llyswen, in Powys, Mid Wales. It is known for its decoration in Laura Ashley fabrics and styles, and was owned by Sir Bernard Ashley, the widower of the designer. It is a Grade II* listed building, and its gardens and park are listed at Grade II on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Bronllys Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Bronllys) is a heath facility in Bronllys, Wales. It is managed by Powys Teaching Health Board. The Basil Webb Hall and the Chapel are Grade II listed buildings. The hospital grounds are listed Grade II on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Bronllys is a village and community in Powys, Wales between the nearby towns Brecon and Talgarth. Bronllys is also the name of an electoral ward to Powys County Council. The community includes Llyswen.

Llanstephan is a small rural settlement in the community of Glasbury, Powys (formerly Radnorshire), Wales. Llanstephan is centred around the isolated church of St Stephen (or Ystyffan). Llanstephan is first recorded as Llanytyffaen wen in the 15th century, with the 'wen' probably referring to the whitewash of the church. The church appears to date from the 13th or 14th century, with a two-and-half stage tower. The building was described in 1859 as not in good condition, but was re-roofed and repaired in 1867–68.Llanstephan House was demolished in 1972 and subsequently rebuilt. It was originally a tall, three-gabled house dating from the mid 1800s; it was remodelled in the 1920s. Other buildings of note include two early cruck frame houses. Dolwen is a few hundred yards south east of the church and has a Tudor door; Celyn, a mile north east, is now ruined but was originally a long house. A suspension bridge was built across the nearby River Wye in 1922 by David Rowell & Company.

Bronllys Castle is a motte and bailey fortress standing south of Bronllys, towards Talgarth in Powys, Wales. The original castle, constructed of wood, was founded in or soon after 1100 by Richard Fitz Pons, the owner of the nearby Herefordshire barony of Clifford, who was a supporter of Bernard of Neufmarché.

Llanstephan Halt railway station, in Llanstephan, Powys, Wales, was opened by the Great Western Railway on 6 March 1933. The nameboard stated Llanstephen Radnor Halt. It was closed by British Railways on 31 December 1962.

The farm at Great Porthamel, at Talgarth in Powys, Wales, comprises a range of buildings including the farmhouse, the gate tower and an agricultural building. They form the remnants of a major medieval manor that was the principal seat of the Vaughan family. The complex has been described as "one of the more remarkable mediaeval houses of Wales". The gatehouse is a Grade I listed building, and a scheduled monument, while the farmhouse is listed at Grade II* and the agricultural building at Grade II.

Talgarth railway station is a former railway station on the Mid-Wales Railway. It opened in 1864 and closed in 1962, serving the town of Talgarth in Powys, Wales.

Pipton is a small settlement and former civil parish (or community) in Powys, Wales on the Afon Llynfi near its confluence with the River Wye. It was formerly in the county of Brecknockshire and is now part of the community of Bronllys. The nearest town is Hay-on-Wye some 5 miles (8.0 km) to the east.
