Whitehouse, Ipswich

Whitehouse Ward is a ward in the North West Area of the town and district of Ipswich in the English county of Suffolk. It returns three councillors to Ipswich Borough Council. It is designated Middle Layer Super Output Area Ipswich 003 by the Office of National Statistics. It is composed of 5 Lower Layer Super Output Areas.

Westbourne Academy is a secondary school with academy status located in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. It is a co-educational school for students aged 11–16 with post-16 provision accommodated at the Suffolk One sixth form centre. The principal is Bark Mouckley . The field used to be home of Ipswich Phoenix Football Club, and is now used by Ipswich Valley Rangers. The school has been known by many different names since 1939, such as, Western Senior Girls' School, Westbourne School, Westbourne High School and Westbourne Sports College before becoming an academy in February 2013. It is now part of the Academy Transformation Trust.

Whitton United F.C. is an English football club based in the Whitton area of Ipswich, Suffolk. The club are currently members of the Eastern Counties League Premier Division and play at the King George V Playing Fields. The club is affiliated to the Suffolk County FA.

The North West Area, Ipswich is one of five administrative areas in Ipswich, through which Ipswich Borough Council divides its spending and enables feedback from local residents, businesses and community groups.The area is composed of three wards, each represented by three councillors. Each ward is also a Middle Layer Super Output Area (MSOA). Bramford Meadows is a nine hectare Local Nature Reserve in Bramford, on the western outskirts of Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned by Bramford Parish Council and managed by Bramford Openspaces Ltd.This site on the east bank of the River Gipping has grassland and scrub, and it is crossed by wet ditches and the former course of the river. Flora in the ditches includes: water forget me not, water mint, brooklime and water figwort.There is access from Ship Lane.

Whitton is an area of Ipswich and once a separate village. It is now a ward of Ipswich Borough Council in Suffolk, England. The civil parish of Whitton in Mid Suffolk district doesn't include the suburb. The site of a Roman villa, the village is thought to have been a Saxon colony, possibly dating from the Saxon invasion of around 430 AD. It appears in the Domesday Book as Widituna, possibly meaning Hwita's farm or White's farm.

The Church of St Mary Magdalen is a Roman Catholic church in Ipswich dedicated to Jesus' companion Mary Magdalene. It was founded in 1956 and is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia. It was originally a part of the parish of Saint Pancras.

Bramford is a village in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. It is three miles west of Ipswich of which it forms part of the wider Ipswich Built-up area. It was recorded in the Domesday Book as "Brunfort" or "Branfort". The River Gipping (the source of the River Orwell), runs at the bottom of the village and was a busy navigable waterway during the 19th century. A lock is still on the east of side of the village. The village has two churches; (one Anglican, St Mary the Virgin viewable from Bramford Bridge in the southeast of the village and one Methodist) in the north west of the village on the B1067 road. Bramford railway station was originally on the Eastern Union Railway but closed in 1955. The village is served by a variety of shops and services; a primary school (southwest), a pub (the Cock), a sports ground, a bowls club and other social groups, including a football club which has a first and reserve team. There is a private care village which is called Cherryfields made up of several bungalows and flats situated up Gippingstone Road in the centre of Bramford, opposite the Co-op. Bramford also has its own Royal British Legion club, and is also home to a St. John Ambulance station, with space for up to 10 vehicles. Nearby villages include Sproughton, Somersham and Little Blakenham.

Whitton is a civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district, in the county of Suffolk, England. The parish does not include the Ipswich suburb of Whitton. In 2011 the parish had a population of 172. The parish touches Akenham and Claydon. Whitton shares a parish council with Claydon and Barham.

Westbourne is a suburb of Ipswich, on the northwestern fringe of the town, in the Ipswich district, in the county of Suffolk, England. It borders the suburbs of Whitton and Castle Hill to the east and the villages of Bramford and Sproughton to the west. Whitehouse is a large estate occupying the northern part of the suburb. It is named after the West Bourne, a former stream and tributary of the River Gipping that ran east through the north of the suburb then south alongside Westbourne Road. It was diverted in the early twentieth century to supply the town with water. The former stream bed can still be seen on the eastern perimeter of the Bramford Lane Allotments and its waters can be heard flowing beneath the manhole covers on the site. Westbourne Academy (formerly known as Westbourne High School and Westbourne Sports College) takes its name from the district. Westbourne Library in the south of the suburb was renamed Broomhill Library following consultation with local residents after the running of the county's libraries passed from Suffolk County Council to Suffolk Libraries in 2012. The Suffolk Punch is a public house in the area, a notable 'Tolly Folly', styled on the Tollemache stately home, Helmingham Hall. A number of artists and writers live in the district.

Papermill Reedbed is a 6 hectare nature reserve in Bramford in Suffolk. It is owned by Blakenham Farms and managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust.The Trust has restored this area of dry grassland of low ecological value by installing water control measures to create wetland. Several species of dragonfly and damselfly have colonised the water-filled ditches, and they are used by water voles and otters.The Gipping Valley river Path goes through the reserve.
