WPGO (820 kHz) is a non-commercial AM radio station licensed to Horseheads, New York, serving the Elmira-Corning radio market. It is owned by Montrose Broadcasting, Corporation and airs a Christian radio format, mixing Christian talk and teaching programs with Christian music. Much of the programming is simulcast from sister station WPEL-FM 96.5 FM in Montrose, Pennsylvania. The stations hold periodic fundraisers on the air to support the ministry. The studios are on High Street in Montrose. By day, WPGO is powered at 4,100 watts non-directional. But 820 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A station WBAP Fort Worth. So at night, to avoid interference, it reduces power to 850 watts and uses a directional antenna with a three-tower array.National religious leaders heard on WPGO and WPEL-FM include Jim Daly, Alistair Begg, Chuck Swindoll, Michael Youssef, Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, David Jeremiah, Joni Eareckson Tada, John MacArthur and J. The Mark Twain Golf Course is a public 18 hole golf course in the Town of Horseheads that is owned and operated by the City of Elmira, New York. It was designed by the famous golf course architect Donald Ross. It was built in 1937 as a public works project during the Great Depression by the Works Progress Administration. The course was named after Mark Twain, who lived nearby.

Horseheads is a historic railway depot located at Horseheads, Chemung County, New York. It was built in 1866 by the Northern Central Railway (NCRY). The train station was operated by the NCRY and its successor, the Pennsylvania Railroad, until 1956. The Italianate style building is significant architecturally and historically as a representative of a 19th-century railroad depot.After being closed by the railroad, the depot was purchased by the local feed mill, where it was used for storage for many decades until it was sold to be used as a retail location in 1994. The interior space has been slightly modified and the original wood floors have been replaced by cement ones, but it remains mostly as built. The Horseheads Historical Society purchased the depot in 1995 and started the restoration process in 1997. The new depot museum officially opened on September 18, 1999. The Historical Society now operates a museum and small rental space in the station. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 as the Chemung Railway Depot--Horseheads.

Horseheads 1855 Extension Historic District is a national historic district located at Horseheads in Chemung County, New York. The residential district includes a rich variety of exceptionally well preserved examples of the vernacular architectural styles once popular in such communities. The included structures reflect the diversity of architectural styles popular between 1860 and 1920.It is adjacent to Hanover Square and Horseheads High School. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Zimmerman House, also known as Zim House, is a historical structure located in Horseheads, New York. It was the home of cartoonist Eugene Zimmerman, also known as "Zim". The architectural and historic significance of the house led to its listing in the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.Zimmerman designed the house in 1890 in a Queen Anne style. It was built by his father-in-law, Alvah Beard. Zimmerman also designed the Zim Bandstand in nearby Teal Park. Both are in Horseheads's1855 Extension Historic District. The house is open for tour by appointment with the Horseheads Historical Society and features some of Zimmerman's works on display.

The Hanover Square Historic District is a downtown business district in Horseheads, New York. Most of the buildings in the district were built between 1862 and 1882 in the Romanesque Revival style. The homogeneity of the district is owed to the fact that a fire levelled the town in 1862, allowing for redevelopment in this manner. The brick buildings, with their decorative corbelling, are remarkably intact. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Arnot Mall is a shopping mall located in Big Flats, New York, in Chemung County. The mall features JCPenney and Burlington, in addition to a 10-screen Regal Cinemas and a Planet Fitness. Arnot Mall is a super regional mall, serving mainly New York's Southern Tier and Finger Lakes Region. The mall is located at 3300 Chambers Road (Chemung County Route 35) and operated by Spinoso Real Estate Group. Arnot Mall is located along the Southern Tier Expressway (Interstate 86/NY Route 17) at exit 51A between Corning and Elmira. It is open seven days a week and has over 100 stores in all.

It is part of the Elmira, New York Metropolitan Statistical Area.
