Ermysted's Grammar School is an 11-18 boys' voluntary aided grammar school in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England.It was founded by Peter Toller in the 15th century and is the seventh oldest state school in Britain. The first official record of the school was seen in Peter Toller's will in 1492; the school records its establishment as the same year, though its history could possibly be dated to 1468. The school operates a house system. The four houses — Toller, Ermysted, Petyt, and Hartley — are named after key figures in the school's history; when the school operated a boarding house, its boarders were members of School House.There are 840 currently enrolled students. The Sixth Form is formed from boys graduating Key Stage 4, as well as 20 additional boys. The current headmaster is Michael Evans; his predecessor, Graham Hamilton, retired at the end of the 2015-2016 school year.

Skipton railway station is a Grade II listed station which serves the market town of Skipton in North Yorkshire, England on the Airedale Line, which gives Skipton access to destinations such as Leeds, Bradford, Carlisle, Lancaster and Morecambe. The station is operated by Northern Trains and is situated 27 miles (43 km) north-west of Leeds. The station has four platforms. It is staffed on a part-time basis and a ticket office is available at most times (along with automatic ticket machines). Ticket barriers are in operation and a Penalty fare scheme was implemented on the Airedale Line routes in December 2017. Step-free access is available to all platforms from the station entrance (platforms 3 and 4 via subway). Skipton comes under the Dales Railcard. There are three seated waiting rooms available, luggage trolleys, a small café, toilets, a post box and a pay-phone. There is a taxi rank immediately outside the station, bus links nearby and the car park has spaces for 100 vehicles. The station is located on Broughton Road.

Dewhurst's Mill, also known as Belle Vue Mill, is a historic mill complex in Skipton, a town in North Yorkshire, in England. John Dewhurst ran a spinning business in the Yorkshire Dales from the 1790s. In 1829, he constructed a worsted mill in Skipton, but it burned down in 1831. It was rebuilt before the end of the year, and reopened as a cotton mill. A large extension was added in 1852, and again between 1859 and 1860. Between 1863 and 1864, a warehouse was constructed nearby, on the site of the town's old workhouse. The largest mill building was constructed between 1867 and 1870. By this time, the mill employed 800 people working over a total floor area of 20,000 square yards (17,000 m2). In 1897, the business was taken over by the English Sewing Cotton Company, which continued to use the mill to produce Sylko, marketed as a silk substitute. The mill closed in the early 1980s, and its prominent main chimney was demolished. The building was converted to manufacture greetings cards, then later turned into offices, including the headquarters of Craven District Council. The complex has been collectively grade II listed since 1978. It is built of stone with hipped roofs in slate and glazing. The main block has five storeys and 20 bays, with rusticated quoins, dentilled sill bands and casement windows. The east range has a U-shaped plan, with five storeys and ranges of ten and 15 bays, and the third building has four storeys and seven bays. At the rear is a chimney, and there are two water towers, the larger with a hipped roof, an iron belvedere and a bracketed cornice.

Victoria Mill is a historic mill complex in Skipton, a town in North Yorkshire, in England. The corn mill was constructed in 1847, by the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. From the start, it was powered by steam. It suffered a fire in 1868, though water from the canal was used to put it out, and only the roof was seriously damaged. In the early 20th century, it was converted into a paper mill. Between 1988 and 1990 it was converted into apartments, to a design by Wales, Wales and Rawson, which won a National Design Award in 1997. The main building was grade II listed in 1978, along with the detached chimney. The main building of the mill is built of stone with quoins and a slate roof. It consists of two parallel four-bay ranges with an H-shaped roof, and a main block of five storeys and an attic and seven bays. The ranges have coped gables, raised in the centre and containing chimneys. To the west is a detached octagonal chimney on a square base, rising higher than the mill.

St Stephen's Church is a Roman Catholic Parish church in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England. It is situated next to Ermysted's Grammar School close to the town centre. It was built in 1836 and was founded by the Tempest family and originally administered by the Society of Jesus. It is a Grade II listed building.

The Skipton Academy (formerly Aireville School) is a small rural 11–16 coeducational secondary school located in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England.Previously a community school administered by North Yorkshire County Council, Aireville School converted to academy status in September 2014 and was renamed The Skipton Academy.

The Water Street Wesleyan Methodist Church is a closed church in Skipton, a town in North Yorkshire, in England. The first Methodist church in Skipton is what is now The Old Chapel. By the 1860s the Wesleyan Methodist Church congregation had grown, and a larger building was needed. They initially planned to use a site in Wesley Place, but ultimately picked a location on Water Street. It was built between 1864 and 1865, at a cost of around £4,000, and an organ was installed in 1867. The church closed in 1952, the congregation moving to the Gargrave Road Methodist Church. The building was converted into offices for the Education Department of North Yorkshire County Council, which remained in the property until 2011, since when it has accommodated other businesses. The building has been grade II listed since 1978. The former chapel is built of stone, with rusticated quoins, sill bands, a cornice and a central dentilled pediment. There are two storeys, the front has five bays, and contains giant Ionic columns and pilasters. The outer bays contain segmental-arched windows on the ground floor. The other openings, including the central doorway, have moulded round arches with imposts and keystones. Along the sides are six bays with segmental-arched windows on the ground floor and round-arched windows above.

The Cock & Bottle is a historic pub in Skipton, a town in North Yorkshire, in England. A building on the site, on Swadford Street, was first recorded in 1689, and Nikolaus Pevsner claims a 17th-century date for the front part of the building. The rear section of the pub has a plaque dated 1729, and the "Cock & Bottle" pub was first recorded in 1731. The front of the building was redesigned in a neo-Gothic style in the 19th century. In the 1980s, the small rooms on the ground floor were opened out to form a single, large, bar area. The pub has been grade II listed since 1978. The building is constructed of painted stone with a stone flag roof. It has three low storeys and two bays. The ground floor contains a doorway and casement windows, and on the middle floor are two oriel windows with chamfered mullions and a cornice on concave-arched brackets. The top floor is gabled and contains three-light mullioned windows, the middle lights higher and arched. At the rear is a long two-storey wing with sash windows.

Craven College is a further education college based in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England. Craven offers a variety of further and higher education courses, including bachelor degrees. Craven College started life in the early 1800s as the Skipton Mechanics Institute on the High Street, Skipton, England. During the Second World War the Skipton Art School and the Skipton Technical Institute were established along with two Evening Institutes and in 1954 the Skipton Art School and Technical Institution became the Craven Institute for further education. In 1974 the college was renamed The Craven College of Adult Education and full time courses flourished mainly in courses leading to secretarial work, hotel and catering, social work and management of small institutions. The Aireville Campus was developed in 1989 adjoining The Skipton Academy (Aireville School). In 1994, the Old Fire Station was opened as the Hair and Beauty Annexe followed by the Auction Mart Campus to accommodate all land-based courses and The Aviation Academy at Leeds Bradford Airport. Tyro Training was established in 2003 on the High Street, Skipton as the business arm of Craven College. In response to demand new premises were secured in Scarborough. Tyro Training, Skipton moved to new premises at the Auction Mart, Skipton in October 2018. The Animal Management Centre was open for students in 2018 with specialist rooms for aquatics, invertebrates, nocturnals, reptiles, amphibians and small mammals. Ripon Evolve is the latest addition to the Craven College group.

Skipton bus station serves the town of Skipton, North Yorkshire, England. It is situated in the town centre, just off Keighley Road, and has eight stands. The main bus operators are Transdev Blazefield (operating as the Keighley Bus Company), Burnley Bus Company, Stagecoach Merseyside & South Lancashire and Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire. Services that are not sustainable on a commercial level are provided by North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) minibuses.National Express and Megabus also serve the bus station.
