The Swan River is in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York. It flows into Swan Lake from the north, and then south out of the lake into the mouth of Patchogue Bay, which then becomes the Great South Bay. Originally, the headwaters reached as far north as Medford, New York, near the vicinity of the Long Island Rail Road's Medford station. Swan River is a relatively clean, cold, free flowing, freshwater stream, generally less than 15 feet wide, with a sandy substrate. This segment of the river flows through much undeveloped forested wetland, but has also been encroached upon by residential development, road construction, and a commercial sand mining operation. Below Montauk Highway, the river is tidal, and is bordered by undeveloped marshland and limited development of boat docking facilities. The fish and wildlife habitat encompasses the entire river, including an approximate one and one-half mile tidal segment, and an approximate two and one-half mile freshwater segment, which extends from Swan Lake, above Montauk Highway, to the headwaters of the stream, above Swan Lake, flowing southward into Patchogue Bay. Swan River is one of only a few free-flowing, spring-fed streams on Long Island that have remained in a relatively natural state. Above Swan Lake, this creek provides habitat conditions suitable for natural reproduction by brook trout, and supports one of approximately 6 known wild populations of this species on Long Island. In addition to native fish populations in Swan River, concentrations of sea-run brown trout occur in the tidal segment below Montauk Highway, during their fall spawning period (September–November). The concentrations of salmonids in Swan River support a recreational fishery of county-level significance. However, no formal public access to the area has been developed. No unusual concentrations of any wildlife species are known to occur in the area. A few local marinas and untouched wild life are spread throughout its almost 2 mile run There are residential homes spread throughout the river's edge.

Smith-Rourke House is a historic home located at East Patchogue in Suffolk County, New York. It was built in 1837 and is a large two story, five bay, generally square dwelling that measures approximately 32 by 40 feet. The house features a low sloping hipped roof of tin with a central cupola and cross gables on all four sides, characteristic of the Italianate style. It also features a profusion of heavy, bold Greek Revival style ornamentation. Also on the property is a small carriage shed.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

East Patchogue is a census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 22,469 at the 2010 census. The CDP is a proximate representation of the East Patchogue hamlet used for statistical purposes of the Census Bureau.

Swan Lake Park is located on East Main Street, East Patchogue, in the township of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York. Swan Lake is nestled between Swan Lake drive on the west side of the lake and Lake drive to the east of the lake. The park has a variety of Long Island ducks, swans, birds, fish, etc., and a natural flowing lake that empties into the Swan River. The park has a small community civic house on the lake which is overseen by the Swan Lake Park Civic Association. Local resident feed the many species of ducks that make this lake their home.

Shorefront Park and the Patchogue Village Band Shell are located on Smith Street at the south end of Rider Avenue, Patchogue, New York.Since 2007, the Park has undergone updates by the village of Patchogue. There has been replacement of the older Band shell to a more contemporary style has been replaces. The new venue served as the geographical host for the Great South Bay music festival in 2010. 'Rider Avenue Park' is located directly opposite or north of Shorefront Park. This park has 3 baseball diamonds, basketball courts, hiking trails, bleacher stands, and serves local sports activities. The park is surrounded by tall beach grass with a natural lake.

Mascot Dock & Marina are a village marina and dock stretching out into the waters of the Patchogue Bay at the end of South Ocean Avenue, in Patchogue, Suffolk County, NY.[1] The Patchogue Village marina serves many local village functions, in conjunction with Shorefront Park which is adjacent to the Mascot Dock. There have been numerous events that have used the dock's location, such as fireworks displays and boat races, as well as crabbing and fishing off the long L-shaped dock. They serve the south shore of the central Long Island area with waterfront seating overlooking Great South Bay.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church Complex is a historic church on Rider Avenue at the intersection of Terry Street in Patchogue, New York. Though the official address is listed as being at 31 Rider Avenue, the actual church is located between two houses owned by the church, the southernmost of which is actually located at 31 Rider Avenue.It was built in 1883 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

The U.S. Post Office in Patchogue, New York is located at 170 East Main Street in the Suffolk County village. It serves the ZIP Code 11772, covering the entire Village of Patchogue, as well as the hamlets of North Patchogue and East Patchogue. Patchogue Post Office was built 1930 to the designs by architect John Vredenburgh Van Pelt of Van Pelt, Hardy & Goubert, and combines Art Deco & Classical Revival architecture. The front building facade is boldly scaled in limestone, and is highlighted with relief sculpture and large monumental windows with decorative aluminum grillage. A matching analog clock sites over the front entrance doors. The rest of the building is made primarily of brick. Long Island-based stamp collectors have often considered the Patchogue Post Office to be one of several sources for stamps with obscure denominations. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 11, 1989. Three other post office buildings in Suffolk County were listed on the NRHP on the same day, but neither of them were designed by the same architect, nor were they designed in the same style as the one in Patchogue. In 2005, the United States Congress enacted legislation renaming the building the Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy Post Office Building, commemorating the heroism of Medal of Honor recipient Michael P. Murphy.

Sandspit Park Beach & Marina is located on the Patchogue River in the Village of Patchogue in Suffolk County, New York. Sandspit is on Brightwood Street off Ceder Ave directly south of the Patchogue Long Island Rail Road Station. Sandspit is home to the Patchogue and Davis Park Ferry terminal to the Atlantic Ocean Beach and bayfront communities of Davis Park, Leja Beach/Ocean Ridge. The Park & Marina offer Long Island Bay and riverside views, with shaded park benches and restrooms. There is a large parking lot which is free for Brookhaven residents. Non-residents must pay a parking fee. In the summer season this park facility may reach full parking capacity;, however, many recreationalists and visitors alike can find ample parking on the village side streets. This Long Island Village park and marina has a small Bay beach area, and there is a private river-front restaurant at the corner of the Patchogue River and Brightwood Street called On the Waterfront. There is a fenced-in playground, a fishing pier on the southeast section of the park, a fairly large village Marina. The Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island or simply MoCA Long Island is a Contemporary art museum located in Downtown Patchogue, New York. The museum is managed by the Patchogue Arts Council (PAC), Its granting agencies are The New York State Council on the Arts and The National Endowment for the Arts.

The Long Island Community Hospital (LICH) formally, Brookhaven Memorial Hospital is a community hospital in East Patchogue, New York in the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County. It's one of the 11 major hospitals in the county.

Congregational Church of Patchogue is a historic church at 95 East Main Street in Patchogue, New York. Though the current church building was built in 1892, the church itself dates back to 1793 in a small building, approximately 25 by 20 feet, that was shared with some local Methodists. Even after constructing a new building in 1820, the Congregationalists and Methodists shared the church building until 1832. A third location for the Congregationalists was built on the corner of Lake Street and North Ocean Avenue in 1854. The fourth and present building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
