Abington station

Abington is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States, 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Boston. The population was 17,062 at the 2020 census.

Abington High School is a public high school co-located with middle and pre-kindergarten schools in Abington, Massachusetts, United States. It is located at 201 Gliniewicz Way and has an enrollment of 520 students. The school's mascot is the Green Wave and the school colors are Green and White. Abington High School is known for its football program, which has won 5 state titles and 8 league championships since 2002.

Studleys Pond, known locally as Reed's Pond, is a 29-acre (120,000 m2) pond in Rockland, Massachusetts. The pond is located south of Rockland Center on Route 123, 0.1-mile (0.16 km) west of Route 139. The French Stream flows through the pond. Gideon's Island, named after Gideon Studley, lies in the southern portion of the pond. Thomas V. Mahon Park, a park which is owned by the Town of Rockland and is accessible from Route 123, lies along the southern shore of the pond.

The Rockland Almshouse is a historic almshouse at 198 Spring Street in Rockland, Massachusetts. The large 2+1⁄2-story L-shaped building was built in 1876, and served as a communal poor house until 1979. It is a rare well-preserved example of a 19th-century almshouse. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It is currently used as an educational facility.

North Abington station is a former railroad station in North Abington, Massachusetts. It is located across from the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Railroad Street, along what is today the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's Plymouth/Kingston Line, and is now home to the Abington Depot restaurant.

Whitman Park is a historic park near the center of the town of Whitman, Massachusetts. It is bounded by Maple Street and Park, Whitman, and Hayden Avenues. The park was established in 1880 by a gift of land from Augustus Whitman, whose family gave the town its name. The well-known Olmsted Brothers landscape firm was retained to design a public park on this land, which was implemented in 1900. This gave the park the basic layout of its paths, as well as its general appearance as a woodland park with open fields for passive recreation. Features that were part of the Olmsted design include a wading pool, concrete tennis court (now used as basketball court), bandstand, and a drinking fountain. The Olmsteds were retained again in 1931 to update the design, accounting for the addition in 1908 of the Civil War monument, and to deal with problematic drainage of water from the park's low-lying areas. The major intrusion on the Olmsted design has been the construction of a Little League ballfield in one corner.The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Commonwealth Shoe and Leather Company is a historic factory complex at 7 Marble Street in Whitman, Massachusetts. The Commonwealth Shoe Company was formed in 1885 by the merger of Charles H. Jones & Co. and Bay State Shoe & Leather Co. The company produced the hugely popular Bostonian shoe, known for its high quality and comfort. The Whitman factory complex was its original site. In 1968, Commonwealth Shoe and Leather merged with Kayser-Roth, which later sold the Bostonian shoe brand to British shoemaker Clarks in 1979. Clarks still produces shoes under the Bostonian brand. The factory complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Whitman is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 15,121 at the 2020 census. It is notable as being the place where the chocolate chip cookie was invented.

Whitman station is an MBTA Commuter Rail station in Whitman, Massachusetts. It serves the Plymouth/Kingston Line. It is located off South Avenue (MA 27). Parking is available on the south side of South Avenue on both sides of the tracks. The station opened along with the rest of the Old Colony Lines on September 26, 1997.

Rockland Senior High School is public high school located at 52 MacKinlay Way in Rockland, Massachusetts, United States. The current high school building opened in 1957. Between 2010 and 2012 it underwent an $86 million renovation project.

The Lower Union Street Historic District is a historic district on Union St. from Water St. to Market St. in Rockland, Massachusetts. It is a predominantly residential area, encompassing an area of well-preserved houses from the late 18th to early 20th centuries. The oldest houses are those of David Lane (64 Union Street) and Deacon Reed (132 Union Street), built in 1816 and c. 1818 respectively. The Reed house is distinctive because of its brick end walls and its excellent example of a Federal style door surround, with sidelight windows and an elliptical fanlight.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
